Sure they built the Tsar Bomba, but no one else was trying at that point. Russia have an economy 10 times smaller than the US. Hell, even India, with it's 40% poverty and 1.7 trillion GDP, have a bigger economy than the Russians. Even the UK has a larger economy than Russia at 2.25 trillion. Not forgetting Russia has 140 million people and UK has 62.
Russia is spending $770B over this decade to "upgrade" its military. The US spends ~$600B each year on its military. Russia can't compete.

Russia has China as an ally, but most of China's trading partners are European and American and therefore, could not risk attacking them. An attack on any NATO country is an attack on them all; Russia cannot rely on China. Who else have they got of respectable size and power? India? No. Japan? No. USA, Canada, Europe and Australia would fight together, unstoppable by Russia.

Japan is 2nd largest and they side with the US and EU. Any attack on an EU country would be war in return from most rich members the EU, very sure about that. However, who knows who's turning the gears of the unions of the world? Perhaps the EU would let the USA become weak in war as part of a larger plan?

1] In regards to Russian equipment dominating the skies, the first real test was between MIG-21 vs. F104 Starfighter (India vs. Pakistan respectively). MIGs kicked ass (see the score).
2] Speaking of economy, India does not have a bigger "economy". Russia has a lot of true wealth from oil/gas. Much of India's "wealth" is just debt and will some day default.
3] Speaking of the UK, when was the last time they built an air-superiority fighter? 1942?

Hell, even India, with it's 40% poverty and 1.7 trillion GDP, have a bigger economy than the Russians. Even the UK has a larger economy than Russia at 2.25 trillion. Not forgetting Russia has 140 million people and UK has 62.

Japan is 2nd largest and they side with the US and EU. Any attack on an EU country would be war in return from most rich members the EU, very sure about that. However, who knows who's turning the gears of the unions of the world? Perhaps the EU would let the USA become weak in war as part of a larger plan?

American aircraft have always had the edge in detection, acquisition and pin-point accuracy at long-range. I nerd out. :B
That is why the PAK-FA is not as serious a threat as the O.P. thinks. It's stealth capabilities simply aren't on-par with its main competitor, nor are its avionics. The only advantage it would have is in close-quarters with its cheeky (but brilliant) maneuvers and large cannon

You should know that while the F22 fighter program has delivered the worlds most capable air superority fighter in the world 20 years ahead of Russia (India) and China. Leaving the Americans with the only true 5th generation fighter that leaves the rest of the world without. The F22 was designed in the 80s! The PAK-FA and J-20 are 10 years away at best, you are naive to think America has not countered these threats in the 30 year gap allowed to them. Peace and Love from the UK

@Trillios not quite the B2 has never been detected in 12 years of active service, no other plane has ever achieved that, and its not like its been sat in a shed either its been used against enemy's with advanced radar systems. However the paint does cost more than if the entire aircraft was built from gold so your probs right about this being cheaper =)
