@Wallflower. Do you have the album version of Cowboy Country? There is a great live performance on YouTube but I would love to hear the original. Thanks
Daughter came to me today (age 11) to say that she "LOVES " that song where they sing, "The Monochrome Set, Monochrome Set, Monochrome Se-e-e-e-t" and asked me who sings this song. I told her that it WASN'T TAKE THAT......That's her brainwashed now!!!! She's off to learn The Mouse Trap now!!!!
Wallflower!!! Thanks so much for the words to these songs. Bid's lyrics are not always easy to understand due to the complexityy and sheer brilliance of them.
I subscribed to you immediately!! A special request to you if I may...the words to
B-I-D spells Bid. I well have my eye out and thanks once again!!
Love these guys.I wish they'd made it to the U.S, during their heyday,or anytime for that matter. This reminds me a bit of a less diabolical early Sex Gang Children-the drums and guitar anyway.
I love the way that The Monochrome Set and Josef K were doing very similar things 350 miles apart, and both seem to have no obvious reference points. They have stood the test of time realy well,,A mark of true genius, shame it was never properly recognised.
What a peculiar coincidence! Good luck with your new business. Are you a sole trader in the private sector or have you formed a partnership? (Hopefully that served as undeniable evidence that I listen in Business Studies class!)
Really? Wow. I wish I could have lived through the 80's to see The Monochrome Set perform live (and meet Bid backstage like my father did!) Bid gave him his plectrum and the drummer gave him his drumsticks!
I'm not sure if i met Bid personally (possible) but i did know Andy Warren reasonably well, as i used to follow the early Ants ..... Saw the Monos an awful lot back then, best band around ..... I'm guessing your Dad must be my age (ish !) Sorry being vain, I'm 46 (yesterday in fact) So ask your Dad if he remembers a band called Martian Dance ? they used to support the Monos quite a lot, especially in London .....
Two tracks that would have the crowd going mental back in the day was this one and 'The Strange boutique' ..... I remember a gig at the YMCA London May 1980 and the crowd went wild, smashed the place up, not what you might have expected from the Mono's following, but it happened a fair bit back then ...... Oh the passion the passion ......
the clash 1985,iggy pop 1988,bauhaus 1983,the ramones 1988 etc...the monochrome set l i v e??[it was 1982]just the 'c o o l e s t' band in the world..ennio morricone,east,west,rock n roll.thank you.scarlet's well[bid's band]they have quality too......
