Just want to plug the video of my grips real quick... The only problem I found w/ the 21a after I found the ammo it liked (CCI minni-mags) was the grips... That has all changed :)
@1991ncw Seriously? Yikes. No, thanks. If it's a dud round that's still sitting in the barrel, I'd much sooner poke it out with a small dowel rod or chop stick or something, or use the method demonstrated in this video. The only time a person should be putting their lips around the muzzle of a pistol is if they've been bitten by a zombie and they intend to blow their own brains out before they join the undead. :-)
Hello - we spoke before - quite a while ago. Well, a miracle happened. I finally found a Bobcat .22LR (brand new never fired). So I did a private party transfer which here in California is the ONLY way you can get one of these as they are not of the California approved List. So, I purchased 5 extra mags (expensive)!! Question - what is the best type/brand of ammo to use. I used Blazer lead as it was the only one I had that worked well I'm breaking it in. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.
@buzzclark Hello again & yes it has been awhile. Well, I test fired the gun & the ONLY ammo it likes & fires well is the CCI mini mags. Now taking into account it is a brand new gun & needs to be broken in - but for now Mini Mags is th e ONLY ammo it will fire at all. What kind of ammo do you shoot in yours?? THX. JAMES.
@buzzclark Use CCI minni mags... Not the hollow points... Minni-mags... They come 50 in a box and are under $15. NO JAMS EVER! I even talk about them briefly in my vid...
i use cci mini mags and when i rack the slide the tip of the bullet wont go in the chamber..........would that be because im racking the slide wrong or would it have something to do with the clip
I bought one of these used Berettas a couple of months ago and have enjoyed shooting it. With mine, the only reliable ammo has been CCI MiniMags and Remington Golden Bullets. I can't seem to get any other 0.22LR brands to work, so perhaps the firing pin spring assembly needs replacing.
Someone asked about the firing pin replacement. There's a small hole at the top of the slide that holds a pin, which in turn holds the firing pin assembly. Remove that & the firing pin may be replaced.
I bought one of these little guns about a month ago too. Mine has functioned flawlessly with all High Velocity rounds. Trigger pull is much lighter in SA. At 20 feet will group the size of a coke can bottom. A lot of fun to shoot too. I have found the key to reliability with this little gun is to keep it clean. As long as it is clean it functions everytime. Since it doesn't have an extractor a little dirt can cause problems.
Oh! Ok. I'm sorry I didn't know that. I've just gotten so used to people making rude comments on my videos for no apparent reason. I hope I didn't offend. And yes I made this video. I'm just commenting right now using my directors account. Is there anything in particular you would like to learn?
It doesn't have an extractor. It just uses the inertia of the round and the round beneath it in the magazine to pop the spent casing out. And yes it is both single and double action.
If you will let the barrel flip up rapidly when you release it, the casings tend to flip out on their own about a third of the time. I usually have a couple of q-tips in my shooting bag for cleaning. They are just long enough to push the casing out and you can brush away loose foulings when you are done.
how do you change the firing pin in it? i think the pin on mine broke off.. but i noticed theres no way to take it out..its all internal in the slider...so what should i do?
Love this little gun. Sometimes I'm not wearing enough to conceal my larger carry weapon, or even a makarov. This little zip gun fits in the coin pocket on a pair of jeans. Not sure I trust it's reliability, but 8 stingers is better than nothing if your life depended on it.
If 8 shots don't do the job, the other guy will be in such shock, that's when you use your 2 fists and knock the shit out of 'em. And if you kick 'em in the balls better be ready to get urine on your shoes:-)
Mine does but only because I modified it to do so. I shaved the edges down on my mag follower so it would extend further up between the feed lips and hold the slide back. That way I would dry fire it less.
Thanks for that, it's been so long since I've disassembled mine, I couldn't remember how to do it. I jammed the slide back too far on the first try, hope I didn't hurt anything.
juz a question... did u find any scratches at the around of the barrel which the ammo feeds? can you pls make a video of that part of the barrel. thank you!
No. It functions just like a normal semi-auto. The barrel just tips up for ease of cleaning and so you can load or unload it without having to rack the slide which is kina hard on this little pistol.
jesus christ, i'm trying to fix one of these at the request of my mom's boss and the trigger guard flung out when i popped the slide out and i was like "OMFG WHAT THE FUCK HOW DO I FUCKING FIX IT" for like a minute until i found the trigger guard D: that was the freakiest minute of my life, rotfl.
Honestly I swear I'm not being mean or anything, but I have tried to stay away from pheonix arms just cause I haven't heard good things so I really don't know anything about them
good video. i occasionally get one stuck in the barrel. i think i've got to stop chewing my fingernails. i also occasionally have the slide jam from a partial ejection. why does it do that?
Because of the way it's built, there is no ejector. It just works off the recoil of the round. So if you have cheap ammo or light loads, you will have lots of ejection problems. Also you may want to try cleaning the breech. And if that don't work, try switching to .22 stingers. They are nice and hot and always function smoothly.
I can't get my slide off. It appears that the barrel doesn't flip forward as much as yours. What am I doing wrong, or is mine a piece of crap? Thanks!
Hopefully you have already just tried to pull the barrel forward. If that didn't work then maybe its defective because it's supposed to just roll forward fairly easily.
I contacted Beretta, They suggested that I send it to their repair department, At $70.00 an hour. I asked them if it is a defect if there would be a charge for it. This guy Butch told me "maybe not". If they do, I'm going to sell it, and buy America and never recommend them again. On top of everything I thought by removing the grips this would help, but ended-up having the safty pop off. >:-{ Thanks for your help!
Dude, this particular model of Beretta IS made in America. Read the manual - Beretta is proud to say that Beretta America is made to the same exacting standards as Beretta Italy!
The barrel on mine goes forward but when I pull it forward all the way, the trigger guard flies off. wtf? i was laughing like hell until I found out it's a bitch to put back on by hand.
Hello. Do you suppose you can make a vid of a breakdown and complete cleaning and lub of the Bobcat. I sure it would not be much different than the Tomcat. but still I would like to see your technique. Thanks. JAMES.
Nice info. About how many rounds would you say you have thru your Beretta Bobcat?? In California we cannot legally purchase them. We can however purchase the Beretta Tomcat which is a .32 ACP. I had one and cracked the frame. Beretta replaced it with a brand new gun. Sure wish I could get a Bobcat though. thanks. JAMES.
I got one of them. It used to jam, but i switched to 22 Stingers. Now it never jams. I carry it in my pocket 7 days a week. Even gets lent in it. Still wont jam! Stingers are the best!
Thankyou so much for posting that Vid, i have learned allot, Is there any chance you could do a test on different ballistic rounds on road kill or some sort of flesh? eg, making a dum dum round or drilling the end of the bullet, filling it with mercury and sealing it with wax, cutting a cross into the end of a projectile with a razor blade. Would be best if you stuck with .22 calibre.
I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I was just guna say that making modifications like that to such a small caliber really is more trouble than it's worth. They carry so little in ft/lbs of energy that modifications like that probably wouldn't make a recognizable difference. Also that bullet is so small that much alteration to it could completely destroy the ballistics. Oh and thank you for the complement. And you are welcome.
Thanks for taking the time to post this very helpful!
Pretty neat how easy the gun is to take apart.
Removing the .22 shell seemed very easy also. I dont think I would want to stick something in the bottom of the barrel incase of a dud round :)Kaboom! Well maybe.

@thmedicineman did you manually lower the hammer? i checked out one of these at a gun store and it was kind of hard to manually lower the hammer.

Best way to remove the missfired round is to pop the barrel and blow threw the other side like a blow gun.

I had the 950, in that you can unload the barrel using another bullet but with the rim side.
