Thanks for the tutorial. None of these steps solved the problem. Given that this printer has given me trouble since day one, "Your printer likely needs some type of service," to my ears, means, "Next time, buy Canon." Thanks anyway, HP.
I have an HP 5600...I put the wrong ink cartridge in and now it won't come out even with pliers....how come it wont come out?its a 27 in a 22 slot....
I have a Carriage Jam printer on my HP 109N.. The carriage won't move at all.. It's stuck hard and I can't move it manually at all.. It's brand new and I haven't even printed a page out yet.. This error message has came up during the initial set up.. Can you help me please..? Thank you..
Ok lets if if anyone has my problem: You press print, the page starts to print, then it just stops half way through and the screen just says "printing". wtf?
@rataranian my printer stops halfway sometimes, but if u press cancel, and turn off the printer, and then turn it back on after a while, it always works 4 me
Suggest step 7 be revised to "bin it". HP support was about as helpful as rubber crutch, and for what the local guys want to charge just to crack the case, I could buy two more printers. I wish I had my old HP III back - giving it away was a huge mistake. But I had no way of knowing at the time that Carly Fiorina was going to trash the company. Thanks, Carly, for trading American jobs for Chinese rubbish. Great trade.
This was very helpful learned alot! What the problem was in the end was... I BOUGHT A NEW CARTRIDGE # 74 BARCODE IS BLOCKED BY SECURITY STICKER FROM WALGREENS. FEB 2012. I took out the cartridge as she described and found a 1/2 inch thick gooey mountain of black ink in well for the black ink SO. cleaned out the goo with q-tips, put in the old cartridge and the paper jams and cartridge jams stopped. I have a working printer. Definately returning cartridge to Walgreens!
You saved the day, there was a big piece of tissue paper in the back corner of the carriage. Printing with tissue paper looks awesome, but it definitely gave me some grief. PC LOAD LETTER WTF.
Thank you for this really helpful video. The official Hewlett Packard help was in the chocolate fire guard category of usefulness. My carriage finally moved with a good push as shown in step 3. Thanks again.
omg! thanks sooo much, was running late for school with a project i needed to print and it jammed on me! so i watched your video, checked all the steps, and all i had to do was move the cartridges! THANK YOU SOO MUCH.
"Gently but firmly, push it straight in until it pops into place" That's what she said :P
Anway, the problem I'm having with My C4280 is that the cartridge cradle won't move. It moves easily when I push it with my hand, but the printer won't move it. After I did the hard reset, it says it's a 'Paper Jam', when it's clearly not. The printing software still says cartridge can't move. It worked fine the other night. What should I do?
Verify that there is nothing obstructing the carriage and use a flashlight to look on the right and left side of the printer for paper. If there is nothing in the carriage path and you are still receiving the same error, your printer likely needs some kind of service. You can contact HP to see what the support options are for your printer.
@Btroisi13 I have the same problem, but I have a C4580. The printer says it has a paper jam. I tried everything this video said and I tried everything in the how to fix the paper jam video. NOTHING WORKED. I looked inside the rollers front and back and nothing. It still gives me that paper jam error. Also like you when I open the cartridge door, the cartridge holders won't move to the far right. And NO there is nothing in its path. It easily moves when I push with my hand. So HELP!!!!
If you have verified that there are no obstructions in the carriage path and that the ink cartridges are seated correctly and you are still having problems, your printer likely needs some kind of service. You can contact HP to see what the support options are for your printer.
"you might have to be forceful" just had to be sure I wasn't going to break it, and sure enough it worked. Thank yooouuuu

The "moving the cradle manually" helped fix my problem.
BTW does your 4500 printer make unusual collision type noises when starting up everytime ?

You should talk slower, and explain how to do a test page more often. I think some people really need slower instruction.
Getting the sarcasm?

@izzirf Hmmm. It's tough to make something that's optimal for everybody. We'll keep working on improving these. Thank you for the feedback.
