nope, still just DX10 and DX9. they did however release a update back in spring that optimized performance on both platforms, and made some features that used to be DX10 only now function in DX9....

btw, the game is now free to play.

PS: Just for ppl to compare: Macbook Pro with Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR3 and 9600m GT (256 MB) and I run at 30-40fps (plus, minus) at medium details. Now, that isn't even midrange anymore. Be sure to pump in a good GPU. CPU = Core 2 Duo 2ghz is enough and 4GB of Ram are todays standards. The engine has been optimized with RotG. I have been through HUNDREDS of MMOs, but this game is just the best FOR ME. Try out the trial for yourself and findout what I mean. Feels like TR: Underworld meets Conan.

Don't know why ppl complain about the graphics. This game is the, not only technical, the best looking MMO out there (okay, maybe Project Entropia has the better engine, but that game doesn't do anything good with it). This isn't a Disneyland tour through WoW or a copy of it. It's mature, brutal and cold, BUT has beautiful landscapes, effects,WATER and what not. It tops most single players games in many ways and is cheap to get now. The launch was bad, the game now stable, fast and awesome.

@NEVAstopGAMER Becouse the graphics even on Ultra is not that good as it was after the release . Todays dx9 option looks like crap ,even the dx10 is shitty . Foliage is unlit today ,looks so unnatural ,postprocess effects are cheaper and many more . Sad but i dont like this decrease of graphics if you remember the earlier builds .

i havent played this game for awhile since my high school got all intense with schoolwork and sports but anyway, how should i upgrade my cpu to perform the game better... I have a radeon HD 4670, amd antholon (tm) 64 x2 dual core processor 4200+ 2.21 GHz, and 3 gigs of ram... i dont know to much about computers so any advice on upgrades or on not getting an upgrade will help. p.s nice vid

@HIGHandFLYandRYE That computer should run the game on medium details just fine. If you want more though, may it be FPS or eye-candy (high details), then pump in something like a Nvidia 9600GT+ in that. Have fun.

yes, the game is currently more populated. for servers, go Wiccana pve, or tyranny pvp (mind you tyranny can be pretty disgusting at times). are the servers stable? well, its better then they were at launch. raids still have lag issues, and the new areas are somewhat laggy as well, but otherwise, i don't experience any issues at all. the new content in the ep is really fun as well.

With that, you should be able to do high settings! (Just low shadows, and no Anti-aliasing, and no low water reflection)

actually the way the game has been optimized in the past year, playing on high with low shadows, no Anti-aliasing, and low water reflection will run better then it dose on medium :p)

The biggest limiting factor for you is your ram. I had lag issues running with just two gigs, but mind you, thats on vista 32. Xp 32 should run it better. I cant guarantee it will run fluid, but you should average about 30 fps but like I said it runs better on high then it dose on medium or low kind of weird but true.

Your card is only one step below mine, so as it is, I dont think you will have any problems, as long as you run it with no anti-aliasing. I used to run the game on medium settings on a geforce 8600GT

@ralphyboy1 Thats usually because your computer hit a limit. if lowering graphic settings doesnt speed things up then you should think about other things that might bottleneck your system like CPU/RAM. an exaple would be my friend playing GTA4 on high settings vs me on medium and we have the same hardware except he has a quad core and i have a dual core CPU.

Whats funny is when the game first came out, you were lucky if you could get max quality on a 8600 GT.... but since then they have optimized it so much.

Now max quality on DX10 is not likely with an 8600. a 9600, maybe, but not an 8600.

I am not positive about Aoc EU, as this is Aoc North America, but on our servers, it is set up that on the updater /launcher or whatever you want to call it, you set it to dx10 instead of 9, and then in the game you have DX 10. its still in 'test' however, and there getting the bugs worked out. Since this video has been made, massive optimizing has been done, but its still got work.

DX10 in age of conan is much much nicer graphic then dx10 this is the first game i've played that got so big diffrent between dx9 and dx10. so guys get a good computer and max out dx10 on age of conan xD the water are even nicer then crysis in some playes. specialy under the water

yeah alot of the buggs have gone away servers are pretty much dead though most populated one is tyrany btu alot of exploits happen there think second most populated is Cimmeria but hell ive seen alot of people thinkign of coming back

Im running on a similiar system, with everything on high and hitting a steady 50-70 fps...some areas drop to 30 but still very fluid. The games performance has improved 10 fold. I also think that dx9 high looks just as good as dx10 :P Also my 8800GTS is only 320mb, so you should be fine on high settings.

No, a 7 series card is not dx10 compatible. You will need a 8, 9, or 200 series card or the ATI equivalent, as well as windows vista or 7.

I play lotro, but I can't deny, the graphics of this game are very good aswell. Though they are not much alike. The disdant landscape in AoC is far more detailed, while lotro focuses more on the nearby graphics. But, they are both great games. (well, don't know about AoC, but it surely looks great)

Really, you might think it seems awkward, but this is one of the only games that I played that I felt "special". I quit, though, but only because I couldnt log in and Funcom couldnt solve the problem.

I tried again ½ later - same problem. HOWEVER, I know what the problem is. Basicly, Age of Conan makes all kind of registry keys that I need to find..and theres atleast 100 of them. So yeah, I'm gonna have to either delete one by one or just reinstall windows. But try the game, its GREAT
