I don't know what to feel about the R8. Truth is, I know it's amazing and as a V10, punches way above its weight, however I just wouldn't buy one. It just looks too much like a big TT. I'd spend the same and buy a 911 Turbo, or a little more an buy an SLS or a Gallardo. They just seem a bit more special or iconic or something.

Most men that have extensive and expansive car knowledge would agree.
So few V10's tend to sound good because they don't climb into a high enough RPM range to where the odd number piston firing per revolution is muted or blended. (The same reason V6's sound like ass at lower RPMs. The odd number of cilinder per hemisphere) The Carrera GT and the LFA are some of the only V10's that go above 10,000RPM and sound better than some V8's
Both the R8 V10 + the 458 are also cheaper than the Ferrari 599 hgte. In fact the LFA is cheaper that the hgte as well, but I don't hear people complaining about the hgte being overpriced.

the r8 with a v10 engine super mod is beast!!! even better than gallardo.. gallardo is only v8 not bad but v10 is obviously better its what the lp640 murcielago has! if u want a v12 then u got the Reventon ;)
@fdsa7777 the Gallardo is the expensive version of the r8, it has the same 5.2 v10 engine and similar chassis and since Audi owns Lambo they can stick a Lambo engine in an Audi-badged vehicle and the boys in Sant'Agata can only whimper.
@SPMNDK89 Just thought I'd clarify that the the 5.2L Gallardo LP560/R8 V10 engine is a direct development of the 5.2L V10 previously used in the S8 & S6. So ultimately, its an Audi engine returning to an Audi car ;)
So Audi made the engine for the original Gallardo based on the old S models, perfected it and stuck in the LP-560 and then returned it back to the R8, am I following this right?? (Actually that explains why the original Gallardo was such a disappointment in comparison to the Ferrari F430 back when the F430 was still cool)
@SPMNDK89 Well I've just picked this up from the wikipedia article on VW group engines and the R8 forum etc. But the wiki article (which is pretty detailed) lists the 5.0 liter Gallardo engine as being developed by Lamborghini. The 5.2L V10 (LP560) is apparently not a development of the 5.0L in the original Gallardo. The 5.2 is a development of the Audi 4.2 V8 FSI (R8 V8/RS4). Atleast thats what I've read :p and the details seem to support that conclusion (use of FSI in the 5.2 etc.)

You gotta remember that a "real" GTR, you know, the ones Nissan didn't soup up for the magazines, actually go 0-60 in above 3.6, more like closer to 4 and quarter i closer to 12. Of course this is widely known. Yes the gtr is a great car, but these people with money have the choice and this car looks WAY, WAY, better, and I'm sure the performance isn't that much different and actually by this test is as fast as the gtr, that is the souped up GTR

the r8 with a v10 engine super mod is beast!!! even better than gallardo.. gallardo is only v8 not bad but v10 is obviously better its what the lp640 murcielago has! if u want a v12 then u got the Reventon ;)

@fdsa7777 the Gallardo is the expensive version of the r8, it has the same 5.2 v10 engine and similar chassis and since Audi owns Lambo they can stick a Lambo engine in an Audi-badged vehicle and the boys in Sant'Agata can only whimper.

@SPMNDK89 Just thought I'd clarify that the the 5.2L Gallardo LP560/R8 V10 engine is a direct development of the 5.2L V10 previously used in the S8 & S6. So ultimately, its an Audi engine returning to an Audi car ;)

So Audi made the engine for the original Gallardo based on the old S models, perfected it and stuck in the LP-560 and then returned it back to the R8, am I following this right?? (Actually that explains why the original Gallardo was such a disappointment in comparison to the Ferrari F430 back when the F430 was still cool)

@SPMNDK89 Well I've just picked this up from the wikipedia article on VW group engines and the R8 forum etc. But the wiki article (which is pretty detailed) lists the 5.0 liter Gallardo engine as being developed by Lamborghini. The 5.2L V10 (LP560) is apparently not a development of the 5.0L in the original Gallardo. The 5.2 is a development of the Audi 4.2 V8 FSI (R8 V8/RS4). Atleast thats what I've read :p and the details seem to support that conclusion (use of FSI in the 5.2 etc.)

He tapps on a superficial part of the rear bumber and it flexes a bit (big deal) and he provides no evidence or instances of the car "Falling apart in two days" So shut the fuck up. It's 638hp for 100grand and it's the fastest and most powerful production car GM has ever built. And If you know anything about the last 10 years of Corvettes you know they are reliable as fuck.

It's not like people are gonna circle you and prevent you from moving out if your parking spot you jerk face. It'a not a UFO. You probably get attention from swerving and hitting fire hydrants. There's nothng to hate on. You don't have the car. But that's neither here nor there. Look at the car. It's a head turner. You knew that before you bought it ( IF YOU DO HAVE IT). Wiht the r8, u are paying for the audi name and prestige. You are paying for attention and "hey i'm rich and a poser." you are paying for quality.
Imo, they should have dropped the other motor and threw the v10 in the first place with the v8 price. The price isnt worth it too me from an enthusiast stand point. I prefer the GTR. It may not have the quality but it will kick its ass day an night for a few thousands less.

Nah, it will not beat it that bad if at all. You gotta remember that a "real" GTR, you know, the ones Nissan didn't soup up for the magazines, actually go 0-60 in above 3.6, more like closer to 4 and quarter i closer to 12. Of course this is widely known. Yes the gtr is a great car, but these people with money have the choice and this car looks WAY, WAY, better, and I'm sure the performance isn't that much different and actually by this test is as fast as the gtr, that is the souped up GTR
