  • Oh my.. that's so scary... were there casualties during that storm surge?

  • What's it called?

  • 1:23

  • What camera did you used? And damn, good thing I wasn't even alive yet at 1991.

  • I would piss my pants if I was in the middle of that.

  • I was there for that...typhoon...and the one a year later...!

  • you are an amazing Hurricane Chaser, dude!

  • "SHIIIIT STORM SERGE "*derp*

  • Fuck.. Super Typhoon Tip Is Stronger Than This

  • I think this is when the coffins came out if the ground across the street. Was sad

  • I hope he parked his car up the hill by the church lol

  • @nickpower03. I already know!

i did not embarriss myself.! excuse me for having the best social studies teacher ever!

and tsunamis can be created by themselvfs not just and earthquake! ur the 1 who embarrissed themself. I know cuz i have the best social studies teacher and science teacher! Tsunamis are water moleques that travel in a bigger fourm then regular molequles thus creating a stronger wave when it hits land most tsunamis are created by earthquakes but others aren't. Talke that! i know!

  • @Mytruelove2011 I am shocked at how a person as ignorant yet self assured as yourself manages to figure out how to put food in your mouth. Life is hard. It's a lot harder when you're this stupid.

  • @terondetraveler holy cow that comment was a long time ago

  • Dude, you defenitly have more balls than me.. The water looks like it could just take you with it.

  • Fuck, u got some guts m8.

  • You must wanted to die !

  • what guts are you taking a bath?

  • stupid it is not a typhoon (well it is typhoon cuz of the wind) its called a tsunami! DUH!

  • @Mytruelove2011 a tsunami is a wave caused by plate tectonics, i.e. earthquake, this is a hurricane, like Katrina in New Orleans, no earthquake happened, why was it flooded? storm surge DUH why dont you learn instead of embarrassing yourself

  • @nickpower03 why don't you learn? did you see the tsunami in Japan that tsunami was created by an earthquake. most others arent! HELLO!?!!?

  • @Mytruelove2011 all are dumbass thats the scientific defintion of Tsunami, is an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption, Tidal waves/ Storm surges are different and are a rush of swollen water pushed in from a heavy storm, these systems get huge look up Cyclone Yasi

i dont see what point your making other than saying this is a tsunami, and its not... so

  • Guam should become a commonwealth and or an associated commonwealth

  • i lost my cat in that storm have you seen him?

    his name is pickles

  • i lost my cat in that storm have you seen him?

  • nice but i'll take yasi

  • aaww...i miss those days of typhoons...i miss the wind and all the ocean spray even the day after when we go diving...awesome shit!!..thanks for sharing the vid...u just made me homesick....

  • I remember those days. Super typhoons being stupid and driving around Guam. Its actually safer around the coastline on Guam because you don't have industrial debris flying around. I have even seen a corrugated tin slice through a coconut tree and leaving the corrugation on both ends of the tree! Crazy! Then we BBQ all the meats because the power is out and we don't want the meat getting bad! FUN TIMES!

  • SURFS UP!

  • You got brass buddy:)

  • jesus get the fuck outta there

  • Being that I am from Nova Scotia,Canada we don't get these types of storms, the worst we get is snow storms and the tail end of hurricanes because once the hurricanes come in contact with cold waters the hurricane dies down. My questions to you is where are you standing when the storms are so close to splash in front of the camera and does it scare you to be that close and I heard of storm chasers for tornados do you chase down hurricanes?

  • @Elizabeth195852 .Yes I do chase hurricanes. Also a typhoon is the same thing as hurricane. Yes I chase tornadoes too in the middle plains of the U.S.

  • Dang, i would had crapped my pants if i gotten washed away T__T

  • Using the woman's bathroom to hide I see.

  • looks fun wish i was there

  • Wasn't Yuri still a cat. 5 when it passed Guam? I've always wondered, do you guys wear any protective clothing while filming? I mean, getting hit by debris flying at 200+ km/hr is a real possibility, am I right? These wind speeds are high enough to drive 2x4's through tree trunks.

  • @GermanOperaSinger after typhoon paka we found a stop sign driven into a coconut tree all the way through. i lived there for 6 years and we got hit by 2 super typhoons and a categorie 4 typhoon. in perspective, hurricane katrina was only a category 4 when it hit new orleans.

  • nice.

  • ...

  • thats crasy.

  • It's like that all the time.

  • this was at inarajan??wow it looks very different now.!i didnt even know thats how bad the typhoons get.!aha always wanted to go with my dad and brothers during typhoon to look around but they always told me no its dangerous..& they did get stuck places cause of the water coming out to the roads from the beach

  • how did you get out of there it looked like u might of bee trapped i would be scared shitliss

  • @chug26

I waited for the surge to settle down for a few moments which is common as a storm comes in but gets higher as time goes on. I just walked out of that area.

  • didn't your mom ever teach you to stay in da house when theres a typhoon??

  • Comment removed

  • lol i wanna surf now

  • konichiwha bitch

  • guam yup my home!!!!

  • yeah id be gettin the fuck outa there from the get go

  • that's what you call lucky to be alive through storm surge

  • and thats how floods start but i thought typhoons could send a car or a person or a boat flying like a giant tornado

  • this is kind of off topic but if you got a boat, maybe you could use it and go into the water and the water will push you. that would seem fun.

    is that guy stuck there?

  • That's awesome !!

  • I would have run the hell outta there when I saw the first surge coming...

  • LOL I agree storm search hahaha made my day dude you got some kick ass footage I know it was yrs ago but wow pretty rad tell me howd you get outa there?? Just curious were you able to get out?

    microbical!!!

    A virus!

  • LOL Storm Suuurge this guy is cool.

  • Where on Guam is that? Doesn't look familiar to me...

  • Inarajan is on the southeast coast of the island. It is a picinic park next to the ocean.

  • I love the guy's reaction.... shhhiiitt

  • i live in Guam and if there was a mega tsunami i would be really really really really really really scared.

  • i highly doubt it due to our great barrier reef

  • I live on guam, and right now there is 2 tropical depressions passing .../ :(

  • on saturday, typhoon malor is going to pass!!!! OMG!

  • Comment removed

  • you would think for a second that it was a tsunami the moment the wave gets in the balcony and as if it wont come back out.

  • Brave or just plain stupid!

  • brave camera man...!!!

  • im sure he had goosebumps.

  • if there one thing im scared of its drowning

  • Cool Typhoon !!!!!!!!!

  • alsome but crazy, wish i was there..

  • Sick!!

  • wow your crazy to film in that weather! Looks like the water might drown you! I hope not!

  • well he posted the video didn't he so he did not die.

  • My uncle told me when he used to live in Guam, whenever they had a typhoon, the only thing they would do is bring the trash can inside. Haha! All the houses in Guam are concrete...

  • lol yeah. my grandparents owns a farm out there and they had to build a concrete garage to store their cars and farm equipment. the last typhoon they had a few years back trashed their new car. they found a stop sign in their car. lol they still have it. i cant wait until i move out to guam later this year.

  • Where do you live now?

  • california

  • Me too, I went from LAX to GUM in 2007. What city do you live in?

  • i live across the bay from san francisco. i went from sacramento to japan to guam. i freaking love japan.

  • ya thats true.

at least most are, some houses are trailers but they still survie.

I really don't like the houses here in the mainland cause their made out of wood.

Everytime I see houses being built i just shake my head because i know that if they were to go through a typhoon then it wouldn't be standing by the time it was over.

  • inalahan pools

  • this guys crazy ur brave mate=D

  • Jeez, get the heck outta there! Amazing video!!!! I wish there was video of Typhoon Tip, maybe it happened too long ago...

  • dangg heckaa crazyy and i am plannin on going there to visit familyy hafa adai! haha

  • your the man GREAT VIDEO

  • The camera man sure has some guts to be standing there filming in that storm!!!

  • i bet you had a good soaking lol dam thats a crazy typhoon

  • where the hell is that?? its only a typhoon if its in the pacific, if its in the atlantic its a hurricaine

  • Where is what? You don't know where Guam is located?

  • thats true TA'YUYU'TI HA, SANTA MARIA

  • ham not ha

  • lol, while we're correcting the Chamorro... "tayuyuti ham" no glota. ;-) Sorry, I know, it's just nit-picking.

  • damn! i'd like to feel how its like to be in a storm surge!

  • ta'yuyute ham.

  • I islan Guahan gi peligro guaifon.

  • I was in a typhoon on Guam in 1959 when we lived at Anderson Air Force Base. I was 13 years old and it was scary. We boarded the louvered windows and waited it out. The outdoor drive-in theater screen blew away.

  • I was there in Tuman Bay. We stocked up on Beer but forgot water..Duh...we were screwed for a few days..haha.. I was there for two Typhoons...

  • Great stuff - classic bit of footage there, impressive :)

  • welocome to Guahan! lol.

  • Wow! I was there,

  • This was taken at the Inarajan pool which is on the southeast coast of Guam. This is a park with picnic tables. In recent years they have put in a seawall along the road near this park, this should help minimize the surge some in minor storms.

  • @cyclonejimcom oh so far from the eye wall were you in this video

  • My first typhoon ! I clearly remember that one, was living in Jonestown near hospital point , was the video filmed in Umatic ?

  • This happened the exact day I was born

  • Scary!! It just kept getting worse! Was this shot at a hotel?

  • No, there is no hotel in that area of Guam. There is a small cemetary across the street. The water came up at least 8 more feet a few hours later along with huge waves and it un-earthed some of the coffins. They were re-buried after the storm.

  • No. It was south of Island. That was nothing. Paka was bad. No power for monts days and water for some days.

  • I think this is the same typhoon that completely destroyed the rock outcrop where people used to dive into Inarajan pool.

  • scary

  • And it appears that the winds were offshore. If it were onshore at 190 mph I wonder how the waves would be like.

  • this is dangerous

  • I was there for this typhoon!

  • Great example...But I sure wouldn't want to be the one holding that camera lol.

  • i love storms

  • I remember that! Inarajan (sp) was the name of the village I think.

  • Great stuff - classic bit of footage there!

  • Great stuff - classic bit of footage there!

  • Your braver than me! I would be a bit further inland and a bit higher - did you swim back?

  • That is classic storm surge video. Best illustration of how it can rear up powerfully and suddenly. Great job Jim!

  • Indeed Micheal great footage! Thanks for posting jim.

  • Absolutely incredible storm surge footage!!! I can only imagine what that spot would have looked like if Yuri had just been a little farther north.
