The scam was that I overpaid for the tea. They tea I sampled was of the highest quality, but they gave me different tea in a wrapped package so I couldn't check it until I gave it to my brother-in-law as a gift.
They negotiated the price for me and I over-paid for the visit and gift by paying about $120. They were slick and each of the guys paid about US$60 in cash for having the tea - but would get it back later. I didn't do the math as to how much I was paying until later. Buyer beware.
its the most well known scam in China.
