This is kid is absolutely amazing, better guitarist than I am and I have mad respect for him, having said that the only thing I have to say is he plays the same patterns and it just all sounds same and he is trying to emulate Paul Gilbert. Paul Gilbert can play different patterns and sound different but Anton here sounds like he is playing the same stuff. HOWEVER I am not dissing him in anyway he is Absolutely amazing, Just wish there was more variety in the beginning. :)
the most awesome thing I can see in this video is that this guy spent lot of time learning a lot of this classical stuff and tecniquest and still can't vibrate or bend a note correctly....

@carvindc400 I've seen 9 - 10 year olds in the local music shop playing with more feeling (albeit, not as technically most of the time) and aren't nearly as boring. Also, Anton has been performing Paul Gilbert type stuff since he was 11. So he's probably been playing since he was about 7 or 8 if I were to guess. Maturity really has nothing to do with it, for one... and if it did, I think he'd had have enough time. "Too young"? Music isn't an old man's game anymore. :\

@devax1986 Why do people automatically assume blues = soul? It doesn't. Soul is the show of emotion while you're playing.. writing stuff that comes from your soul. That's in EVERY genre of music. I'm not questioning the kid's talent. He's great in technical terms. But he is boring. He plays from his head and not his heart, which is what a lot of "technical death metal" and "technical insert genre here" is missing these days. Give me a guitarist like J Mascis over this anytime.

the sad thing is that the majority of people commenting on this video are too stupid to realise just how good this kid is. he has the chops, obviously, but he has a maturity and control that is WAY beyond his years, PLUS he can perform.

@totalmetalisation This sounds like no Paganini piece I know of. It just sounds like a bunch of arpeggios played with plenty of effects to me. Which Paganini piece is it? Can we compare this recording to a partition to make sure he mastered it well? I doubt it but am no expert on Paganini. Maybe you can provide me with info here.

@hu6h057 Effects? His tone is so raw, his articulation is perfect. Also, he played it exactly as written on the note sheets, with all those string skipped pedal tones and stuff. The first piece that he plays is Paganini's 16th caprice.

I invite anyone to tell me this guy is even close to a far from perfect rendition of the 16th Caprice. And don't tell me this tone is raw. Have you ever plugged in a guitar into an amp? Or even in a pre-amp for that mater? Judging by your post, I affirm that you never did and I am 99.9999999% sure of the veracity of previous affirmation.

1- You haven't practiced shredding techniques (scales, arpeggios, legatos...) for hours every day for a year or two.
2- You obviously listen to Metallica.

I love how all these guys come in saying "its all technique" and theres "No soul" in his playing, The guy obviously loves what he's doing which is all that counts. Just because he doesn't Pull stupid faces while playing blues and profess his love of his instrument does not mean he's bad. like Vai said, you dont have to play fast to suck. This is kid is absolutely amazing, better guitarist than I am and I have mad respect for him, having said that the only thing I have to say is he plays the same patterns and it just all sounds same and he is trying to emulate Paul Gilbert. Paul Gilbert can play different patterns and sound different but Anton here sounds like he is playing the same stuff. HOWEVER I am not dissing him in anyway he is Absolutely amazing, Just wish there was more variety in the beginning. :)

@carvindc400 I've seen 9 - 10 year olds in the local music shop playing with more feeling (albeit, not as technically most of the time) and aren't nearly as boring. Also, Anton has been performing Paul Gilbert type stuff since he was 11. So he's probably been playing since he was about 7 or 8 if I were to guess. Maturity really has nothing to do with it, for one... and if it did, I think he'd had have enough time. "Too young"? Music isn't an old man's game anymore. :\

And why would he care about soul? Are you 5? All good musicians have soul. Even metal guitarists. There are tons with a shit-ton more soul than this kid. And Yngwie isn't a fair person to bring up. His first two albums were fantastic.. and he had lots of soul. However after that he just became a robot. That's boring.

However technical, this type of music to me gets old, because I have heard the whole classical style, i.e Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert feel. I feel it is overly repetitious, but none the less he is a great player and to him I am sure he loves it.

@devax1986 Why do people automatically assume blues = soul? It doesn't. Soul is the show of emotion while you're playing.. writing stuff that comes from your soul. That's in EVERY genre of music. I'm not questioning the kid's talent. He's great in technical terms. But he is boring. He plays from his head and not his heart, which is what a lot of "technical death metal" and "technical insert genre here" is missing these days. Give me a guitarist like J Mascis over this anytime.

I'm into stuff like the Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Flaming Lips, Dinosaur Jr, Megadeth, Hank Williams III ... and it all shows in my music. You're probably a metalhead. And nothing wrong with that. Just takes different strokes to move the world... but there are MANY more metal guitarists out there that aren't as boring as this guy. Alex Skolnick, Marty Friedman, Jon Nodveidt (RIP), come to mind off the top of my head...

WAT DE PHUCK MAN srsly he has WAY better vibrato than 90% of players... yngwie malmsteen's vibrato is too exaggerated and overrated... and the only part of paul's playing that is just patterns is when he shreds the fuck off, but they're many, many, many different patterns... and not yngwie or vinnie moore can outrun paul in his timing... NEVER... nuff said, my opinion.
