Hmmm I played WoW for a few years and EQ for a few years before that. And of coarse tried several games along the way. Now that I'm Rift I have to the folks at Trion did an amazing job. I look forward to whats coming in the future for Rift. The graphics are simply amazing and the custom character trees are great. I do wished they had added more "thiefly" stuff for us rogues but hey I can always wait for Thi4f to come out ;)

WoW is done for. It gives no alternatives to raiding any longer. You strive to be the best PVP'er on your server like in old days. And when the ranks disappeared, Arena was at least there to make up for it, but then they ruined that too. Raiding has become no more than a grind, and as soon as you think you've gotten something nice, they release a new 5 man dungeon with epics, or nerf everything, so everybody gets a piece without working for it. I have a mac so can't play Rift, but i want toooo!
@oliverandm I have an I-Mac G5 and I went a head and ordered Rift, You can use the program "Bootcamp" to partition your hard drive and install Windows. I think it comes with most Macs ? I had to go on You tube to watch other people do it but I figured it out. You can boot up into either Windows or OSX whatever you want ! it is pretty cool. I have had Windows 7 installed on my Mac for a few months and I haven't had any problems, but I admit I never use the Windows side !!
WoW is a great game indeed. But I agree with most of the comments that it doesn't have the same good experience that it has before. Rift looks "for me" a way better game. It's dynamic, it's live and it's new. WoW has a great lore, that I LOVE, but the game turned into endless raid grinding and boring stuff. Rift all the way if you want to experience a true mmo.

i was addicted to the game for 8 months then cata dropped and end less then a month i just stopped playing. cata blows and nothing is that great about it anymore except for flying which you cant do in rift yet and what ive heard probally never will. But yeah rift is funner. But it has not beat wow yet but compared to rift and the first wow mmo oh yeah was beaten. But give the game 2 years to collect wow veterans and come out with a rift 2 and then rift will stomp wow into the ground.

@SuperSmashShaman Technically, WoW had its roots started since before EQ was even an idea. It only became an MMO sometime after EQ had started so it could sink into its already growing audience. EQ was randomly thrown out with little planning. Warcraft has been growing in power until it was ready to show itself as an MMO.

@blickluke The Rogue is a Guardian, the other two are Defiants. The Rogue opens the Rift on purpose to buy time to escape.
The Guardians believe blindly in the Gods, the Defiants believe in tech.
But the Defiants screwed up and created the Rifts. They rushed to create tech to fight them off, but the Guardians blamed them for the Rifts and attacked them destroying their tech.
Now both sides hate each other, and are screwed because neither can hold off the Rifts alone for much longer.
i got in beta....downloaded. After a lot of good names failing into nothingness(like warhammer online) i didnt had high expectations....but i could not take the game more then 10 mins. The classes have all some problem none of them really fun. The graphix are decent but animation is bullshit. Balance is nowhere near decent. Might need some time to kick in...but really when a game aa book or movie starts bad...you dont struggle to wait it get better. Learn this devs...you might improve you
I've played all the classes and they seem to function exactly how I expected them too. There seems to be something for everyone depending on your play style and even a few extra things to mix it up down the road.
I do see them having some major balance issues going forward however. There is just too many combinations for them to have balanced properly.
Overall though, best MMO I've seen at launch hands down since the infamous WoW.
The game is amazing and playing in beta has been a blast. This video does not really capture any of the experience I've had in Rift so far but maybe if I did PvP it might. It's a good effort but just doesn't look right compared with the actual game.
And of course, having the Guardian guy win sucks too!

The game is nice I played the betas but,, wth is this trailer? not like you can do ninja jumps on walls with epic finishers, or make ice walls with physics, neither you bash your shield and a helm appears on you, or throw an amulet and root a guy -.-, and for sure you ain't gonna root anyone to a rock with an arrow.
Besides all of that there are things i don't get on this trailer, why does the guy say I WASN'T CHOSEN FOR MY FAITH? he's a guardian, they are the religious guys in this game

Plagued by hackers. The game has actually had a large volume of its subscribers hacked while Trion Worlds blamed it on the client on their public forums. A gamer by the name of Manwitdaplan actually fixed it for them. Absolutely 0 customer service for anything. I wouldn't play this game if it was free to play. 3/10..if that

@SuperJewsus 0 customer service? It's obvious that you're a troll or just ignorant. If you ask players, they'll tell you that the response time from CS is faster than most other games. That gamer was a whitehat who found the exploit others were using and reported it. They had it fixed in a few hours.

i was addicted to the game for 8 months then cata dropped and end less then a month i just stopped playing. cata blows and nothing is that great about it anymore except for flying which you cant do in rift yet and what ive heard probally never will. But yeah rift is funner. But it has not beat wow yet but compared to rift and the first wow mmo oh yeah was beaten. But give the game 2 years to collect wow veterans and come out with a rift 2 and then rift will stomp wow into the ground.

@IICrraazzyll How can it be very much wow? If a rift spawn in a zone and noone trys to kill it the rift can take over a whole Zone and kill the questing NPCs then who gonna help a lvl 1 trying to quest? I dont think WOW have that much skill based.

@kamedake71 The game is doing exactly what WoW did, and generally the same plan WoW had. They took what made other games great and polished them to the best they could at the time. Rift is actually just using the same sales strategy WoW used... look where WoW is now, doesn't seem like a dumb plan to me.

@SuperSmashShaman Technically, WoW had its roots started since before EQ was even an idea. It only became an MMO sometime after EQ had started so it could sink into its already growing audience. EQ was randomly thrown out with little planning. Warcraft has been growing in power until it was ready to show itself as an MMO.

@blickluke The Rogue is a Guardian, the other two are Defiants. The Rogue opens the Rift on purpose to buy time to escape.
The Guardians believe blindly in the Gods, the Defiants believe in tech.
But the Defiants screwed up and created the Rifts. They rushed to create tech to fight them off, but the Guardians blamed them for the Rifts and attacked them destroying their tech.
Now both sides hate each other, and are screwed because neither can hold off the Rifts alone for much longer.

i got in beta....downloaded. After a lot of good names failing into nothingness(like warhammer online) i didnt had high expectations....but i could not take the game more then 10 mins. The classes have all some problem none of them really fun. The graphix are decent but animation is bullshit. Balance is nowhere near decent. Might need some time to kick in...but really when a game aa book or movie starts bad...you dont struggle to wait it get better. Learn this devs...you might improve you

I've played all the classes and they seem to function exactly how I expected them too. There seems to be something for everyone depending on your play style and even a few extra things to mix it up down the road.
I do see them having some major balance issues going forward however. There is just too many combinations for them to have balanced properly.
Overall though, best MMO I've seen at launch hands down since the infamous WoW.

The game is amazing and playing in beta has been a blast. This video does not really capture any of the experience I've had in Rift so far but maybe if I did PvP it might. It's a good effort but just doesn't look right compared with the actual game.
And of course, having the Guardian guy win sucks too!

The game is nice I played the betas but,, wth is this trailer? not like you can do ninja jumps on walls with epic finishers, or make ice walls with physics, neither you bash your shield and a helm appears on you, or throw an amulet and root a guy -.-, and for sure you ain't gonna root anyone to a rock with an arrow.
Besides all of that there are things i don't get on this trailer, why does the guy say I WASN'T CHOSEN FOR MY FAITH? he's a guardian, they are the religious guys in this game
