FYI, I distrust CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News equally. What I DO know is we have far more important issues than re-releasing CO2 that used to be in our atmosphere millions of years ago, such as our freshwater, and toxic dumping encouraged by sanctions that are lower than the profits earned by ignoring them.

@GTfour01 I hear ya. I should say that all science involves theories, which lead to hypotheses, which are then tested through experiment. The theories remain and allow for the possibility of scientific falsification thereby allowing for the progress of science.
As for which influences are the stronger ones, be they CO² or over-logging and so forth, that's just a matter of empirical testing.

Ok. Now here is my opinion on our climate. Over the billions of years that our planet has exsited it has undergone climate changes. To keep it short, what is the evidence to say that this is not another act of nature? If it is just c02 increase what is there to say that volcanoes are not exuding more of it? CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels and other industrial processes has a different radioactive isotope than CO2 from natural sources. Scientists can measure this and know that the rise in CO2 over the last 150 years is largely human produced.

What gingrich should have done was just be honest and just say,
"I don't know. There are many credible scientific institutions. Ask them."

Gingrich talks like he has a clue about the extremely complex science of climate change. He says "nobody knows this stuff". He should have said that HE doesn't know this stuff.
He also talks like scientists are saying that humans are more "important" than the sun in affecting climate. This is another example of Gingrich not having a clue. No kidding the sun is THE driver of climate.

To this day,it is still very debatable if we have any influence on our climate at all and if so,it's neglectable. Meanwhile we just go on fishing our oceans clear of fish,hacking away our planets loungs(forrests) and expanding our human numbers like wildfire. THAT's what we should focus on. The fact that the whole CO2 and climate change theorie's to date are nothing more then that,'theories',is just my entire frustration. At the moment,on grounds still unproven,many moneygrabbing governments have started taxing the hell out of us! At the same time,the entire CO2/climatechange industry has become a multibillion sapping nonscience sekt like movement. An enormous waste of funds that should be used for realworld problems,not on 'what if' scenario's.

@GTfour01 I hear ya. I should say that all science involves theories, which lead to hypotheses, which are then tested through experiment. The theories remain and allow for the possibility of scientific falsification thereby allowing for the progress of science.

As for which influences are the stronger ones, be they CO² or over-logging and so forth, that's just a matter of empirical testing.
And you do realize that the meaning you advance when you write "humans think far to much of ourselves" (hubris) is not the same as people being poor caretakers of the planet (being self-absorbed). I think that's what I didn't understand until now.

As soon as it was announced that there would be no agreement to transfer $100B from the US to developing countries, they all jumped in their limos, boarded their jets and went home. This argument always becomes about "how much money will the US give." China and India have no intention on slowing their industrial efforts.

What is worrying about his argument is that he is not taking into account the cost of changing behavior away from CO2 emitting. I think that we seem to be seeking to do it by very destructive methods (very central planning and huge taxes on everything).

If they got 11,000 climatologists to sign a petition, -that- I would pay attention to (but I also think that would be the end of the global warming debate).
As it is it means nothing... a mathmatician knows as much about global warming as a climatologists knows about strong theory.

Yes, there have been historical Earth changes -- but that does not negate the fact that HUMANS HAVE ABUSED and polluted this planet something awful. And he is wrong saying..."Nobody knows this stuff." The SUN has been heating the Earth millions of years and only in the last 25 years (or so) has the Earth over-heated in this manner. Ok. Now here is my opinion on our climate. Over the billions of years that our planet has exsited it has undergone climate changes. To keep it short, what is the evidence to say that this is not another act of nature? If it is just c02 increase what is there to say that volcanoes are not exuding more of it? I am lost in this climate change thing and really only believe that it is nature and not humans. Please correct me if i am mistaken.

CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels and other industrial processes has a different radioactive isotope than CO2 from natural sources. Scientists can measure this and know that the rise in CO2 over the last 150 years is largely human produced.

Opinions? We're all full of them. gingrich, or any public figure that is somewhat respected should be careful about what they are saying. Example: Would it be wise for bush to answer questions about medical procedures? Maybe someone might take his advice and do something stupid. Same with gingrich. Maybe some will resist action on climate change despite the overwhelming evidence.

Gingrich talks like he has a clue about the extremely complex science of climate change. He says "nobody knows this stuff". He should have said that HE doesn't know this stuff.
He also talks like scientists are saying that humans are more "important" than the sun in affecting climate. This is another example of Gingrich not having a clue. No kidding the sun is THE driver of climate.
