  • @Krysko94 i'm not a theologian, though... :)

  • @MrVuittonLouis The pope is just a human, just as Jesus was. I am insulting no one. It is the consensus of most philosophers of science that theology shouldn't be regarded as a science. The reason is that there is not the slightest bit of evidence that the main object of theology a God can not be observed. This is totally unscientific.

  • I admire this man he speaks, latin, italian, spanish, german, french and English

  • @MrVuittonLouis And lets not forget that a lot of those issues concerning Galileo Galilei such as his imprisonment are either blown out of proportions or a flat out lie. The Vatican have Letters written by Galileo himself which set himself as a great friend and advisor of the pope at that time.

  • @Krysko94 Welcome!! fellow defender!!

  • it is amazing how a lot of people are so misguided about the catholic church. and even if you explain the truth to them they refuse to believe it and choose to remain blind!! thanks to all the people who responded defending the church!

  • A wonderful Pope and the devil always screaming against the Church.Devi,l you are a loser.Long live the Church and the Pope.God bless you all.

  • What kind of a joke is that? Blessing professors? The business of the Pope is not science, his business is may be wearing nice dresses or whatever. By the way: Benedict was a professor of theology, that is no discipline for a university its not science; germany is one of the few states where you can study theology at university.

  • @balouthewatz No discipline for a University? Are you joking? If courses akin to David Beckham studies are now studied at University, than surely a purely academic study such as theology which explores the ancient ideals of humanity is worthy of study. Germany also isn't a state, it's a country. Also, in most countries theology can be studied whether at University or within Seminary's. Over 50 percent of scientists are Christian.

  • @balouthewatz : I disagree with you. The catholic church on their quest for seek the truth consider the relevance of the science. Indeed the Vatican itself develop many scientific activities. To be a scientific you do not need to be atheistic. Theology its an university degree course as philosophy or any other. Probably if you get more information about the contribution of the catholic church, you won't be talking like that.

  • @macporto72 great reply. let's keep the ignoramuses/ idiots in their place

  • @macporto72 Ok then, if theology is a science then show me how we can scientifically investigate claims about Gods. Lets begin with a simple Question: "How do you define f.e. the christian God and how do you verify claims about that God?"

  • @balouthewatz The Catholic Church invented the University System, not to mention the scientific method. Science was born as a " handmaiden" to theology and has its real roots in the schools of the middle ages*. There is a reason that science only arose within the Christian west I recommend the following books

    The Genesis of Science

    The Victory of Reason

How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization

    Savior of Science

The Foundations of Modern Science in the Middle Ages

  • @plotinus2000 As i understand it was Galileo Galilei one of the first scientists ever. He was one of the first to look at evidence and go with the evidence. I think it was the last pope who admitted finally that Galileo was right.

But anyway. Even if the church was the source of science (but i doubt that), that does not influence whether theology is a science or not. The objects you investigate must be accessable to a scientific test. God is not testable....

  • @balouthewatz Also, the word "university" has its roots in the word "universal" or the word "catholicus" in latin. This means that the University is a place for all disciplines and that the student should be educated as a whole person. As Schrodinger ( the father of Quantum Mechanics) said "Science puts everything in consistent order, but is... silent on everything that really matters to us, tastes, pleasures, pains, delights, origins, God, and eternity."

Read The Idea of a University by Newman

  • @plotinus2000 I am not intereseted in the history of the word university. A university is an institution of higher education and research. Theology is not a science. Most philosophers of science would agree on that. God is not observable, he is just in your minds ....
