  • zzzzzzz,get to the point already !

  • zzzzzzzzz get to the point already !

  • my 5 favorite matches in the esscential starrcade.

    1. sting vs hogan (starrcade 97)

    2. magnum ta vs tully blanchard (starrcade 85)

    3. sting vs ric flair (starrcade 89)

    4. 3 count vs jamie knoble & evan karagias vs jung dragons (starrcade 2000)

    5. battlebowl match (starrcade 91)

  • I was there for anything at the Norfolk Scope. In Starrcade 89 "True Grit" that is me with his faced paint each 1/2 like the Road Warriors wearing a blue World's Gym T-shirt.

  • You are very generous with your star ratings, TSlay1974. I would have given Piper-Hogan from '96 negative stars.

  • Starrcade '89 was awesome.

  • The DVD was pretty good. I loved the ladder match from Starrcade 2000. It was actually better then the ladder match from Wrestlemania 2000.

  • Loved Jim Crockett promotions version of WCW! They did the best job by far making secondary and tag team titles feel big time important!

  • sting vs hogan in 97 had the best build for any match ive ever seen....

  • What do you think is the best Starrcade?

  • The Vader - Flair match sucked!! Two extrememly opposed wrestling styles clashed...it looked HORRIBLE as far as Im concerened! Starrcade DIED when Turner took over. Although '88 was very good!

  • i would like to see wwe release all starcades. Like an anthology.

  • that would be pretty sweet. I wanna see them release the Clash of The Champions as well.

  • There,s other matches like Superstar Billy Grham vs Whaoo Mcdaniel, Whaoo vs Rick Rude indian strap match from 86 ( which wasn,t on the turner versionthat was released on vhs) loser leave town jimmy valiant vs paul jones (84 ) kabuki vs charlie brown (jimmy valiant in a mask from 83 ) i could go on and on if they wanna put out starrcade put out a complete box set of all the starrcade from 83 to 2000 i know it would be expensive but I,d probably buy it.

  • Me I wouldn,t buy it there,s not that much I,d wanna see I was at most of the true starrcades I missed 83 I was @ 84 ,85 ,86, @ Greensboro nc I watched 87 on tv FROM Chicago @ Greensboro (what a joke) to me after 86 there was no more starrcade it just became a name i was also at 92 and 93 (The one with vader and flair) there,s alot of matches at starrcade i,ve seen that are not on the dvd that you will probably never see who cares about hogan , goldberg , nwo ect.

  • Briscos vs Steamboat and Youngblood is on the most powerful familys in wrestling dvd. By the way i read that WWE are thinking of bringing out a best of war games and COTC DVD

  • cool wal mart will never mis it

  • u suck peter fatter than peter griffin lol jkjk

  • Becouse I am not going to do an hour long video talking about what they GOT right and what they got wrong. I don't do indepth reviews becouse if its a good DVD the people should watch it for themselfs.

  • i know right. yawn! can anybody do a freaking review of this dvd right? well...at least he gave the match grades, which is a good thing.

  • the scafold match with the road warriors was the best what are you smoking

  • Tslay, looks like you've gotten a little chubbier over the past few months...........I'm just rambling.........

  • OJ was found not guilty so NFL should not remove him

  • And for all the people out there that were fans of 80s & 90s wrestling would be insulted on the review you just made about this DVD.

  • kid you don't know wrestling. and every match was good because it looked real and the moves are more better then today's wrestling. 2000 starrcade was not good because its just like today's wrestling boring and slow. and it was sting, piper, Ricky steamboat, road warriors, magnum TA and so on that made the DVD. not just Ric Flair. I Respect Ric Flair but in the DVD he didn't go crazy like like the other wrestler.

  • Seriously, what the fuck are you on about??

Did you even watch Starrcade 2000's match on the DVD?

We're talking about Jung Dragons- Noble + Karagias- 3Count.

That was the most energetic contest in the entire compliation...

The older matches are clearly more psychologically-orientated.

See Briscoes vs. Steamboat- Youngblood. GREAT match, but much slower in comparison to more modern wrestling...

  • im just saying that the old starrcade match r u the shit. and that when TSlay1974 said that ric flair made the DVD it pissed me off. I don't hate ric fair I just feel that the road warrior, sting, rowdy piper should and other man should get the credit for making this dvd thats all. TSlay1974 said this DVD was not mind blowing. and as you a fan would u be insulted by this review.

  • Its not mindblowing there is to much crap on this DVD some of the stuff that is not can be seen on OTHER Better DVDs as well so no this is not a MUST get OTHER than the fact that THIS DVD has Flair vs Vader

  • Dude, it's got Sting vs. Muta!!! I gotta' get that...(not for just the one match)

  • Fine points by all. Again, my point was that they don't have to make him a centerpiece of anything, but yet not blatantly find ways to avoid him, to the point where its silly, and it doesnt help that Vince is such an awful history re-writer to begin with. I digress.

TSlay, do u know if New Japan followed suit and removed Benoit from their current dvds?

  • I thought my ratings of the matches were a bit high but jesus christ you've gone well over lol

  • wwe dvds always fall short, especially when they are about another organization.

  • It's a good set, but my major gripes are: Entrances missing, documentary was too short(could've added 30 minutes more history), and, as usual, Chris Benoit ERASED FROM EXISTENCE. Ugh. They can't ignore his legacy forever, good or bad.

  • really that really sucks! Im about to buy it but if it's missing many entrances i'd think twice, I think its all part of the fun & i dont watch films without the intro's too. Does anybody know how frequent there is entrances missing? I think that depends on whether i buy it or not cheers!

  • Jedi, as much as we wrestling fans dont like the fact that benoit has been erased from existence, do you blame the WWE?

  • Well, they don't have to flash a light on Benoit, but to make WCW best-of DVD's, and not include Benoit isn't fair to anyone. History is history. Do major league football, baseball, or basketball organizations put out DVD's, then take out the people that have done heinous things off field?

  • Actualy I am sure if the NFL did a best running backs DVD they would leave out OJ. If they did a DVD of NEW young QBs they would leave out Vick.

  • jedi, but none of those people in the NFL and MLB KILLED people.

  • Oj did

  • Pwned.

  • I don't really have any grips about missing entrances, I see it as cutting away the fat and giving us the meat - also it leaves more room on the disc for actually wrestling as opposed to posing.

  • i'm guessing we will get a 10th anniversary of smackdown set sometime this year too

  • They should make a WCW cruiserweight division DVD set!!!

  • why only 4 and a half stars for flair vs vader? it's worth selling an arm and a leg for

  • r u going to get the jeff jarret dvd it looks good

  • When i saw that vader/flair was the #1 match i was like WTF but then i saw it and WOW!

  • was this the same collection they put on 24/7 but broke into 5 parts?

  • yes

  • Cool- you've just saved me the price of the dvd!! I was able to get it from 24/7 already...

  • I agree with you about TNA needing a best of 2008. .. As for the starcade dvd I someday got to check it out. I hope it teaches the fans who thought WCW was always crappy wasn't crappy in fact as they can learn about NWA as well. I have always disliked Mcmahon for making money off dead companies he laid in the dust but this is great.. WCW was awsome in the 90s. As was NWA in it's old days.

  • In all fairness, who wouldn't want to make money by using matches from dead companies on DVD if they had the chance? You don't think that had WCW beaten the WWF and they had the WWF's library along with the other companies, that they wouldn't do the same thing? Let's say that TNA puts WWE out of business (which won't happen) and they had access to the WWE library and the library of the other companies. You don't they would do it if they had the chance?

  • Yeah and if they did I would feel the same. JMO

  • is it me or does sting look scared to be on the front of the Starcade dvd collection?

  • I actually never watched Wrestling before the undertakers time

  • DVD sounds really good I like WWE DVD's lately they have been doing good and I agree with WCW and Ecw DVD Documentary comment

  • Great review. Are you going to do one for The Best of Saturday Night's Main Event? I watched that not too long ago and thought it was pretty good.

  • I really liked the 3 Count vs. Jamie Knoble & Evan Karagias vs. Jung Dragons match. It was a pretty entertaining ladder match.

  • I agree. I can understand people hating that time in WCW but they did have great matches here and there as this stands up to them imo. But they did have good matches. Of course they had crap when and before it folded. But it did not fold because it was terrible. Turner was stupid with Money and had to sell it as he had to sell even the things that were doing great.

  • No mention of Jimmy Valient or Ron Garvin stuff nothing seriously on Rock and Roll Express, and other stuff i thought was needed miss some things butok dvd documentary could have been better.

  • looks good... no 5 star matches though ??

  • I'm vying for a History of the WCW dvd.

  • tagteams: the sst, the roadwarriors, the steiners, and doom. The singals: ric flair , sting , lex luger, muta

  • i laughed when i saw 3 count were on this dvd they were great

  • sting/hogan got **1/2 stars? sorry tslay have to disagree with you there.

  • I gave it that just becouse when watching it the fans where into it but it was shit I agree from a wrestling standpoint.

  • The problem with that match was that Sting got built up so much going into it just to let Hogan dominate him for most of the match. Not to mention the ending...

  • it is not out in ireland yet can't wait until it comes out

  • I would love Great American Bash set, War Games, and Halloween Havoc.

  • I AGREE WITH U if they did a history of the great american bash, fall brawl/wargames. and halloween havoc dvd's

  • The 4 tag teams from 89 Starrcade are Steiners, Road Warriors, Doom and Somoan Savage & Fatu. The four singles participants are Sting, Ric Flair, Lex Luger and Great Muta. I agree, not the most entertaining card - should have been drawn out across multiple shows.

Great review. I'd pick it up if I had the money to splurge, but I've got most of the matches already.

  • where the hell was Hogan/Butcher from 1994???? just kiddin... lol

  • Favorite matches from the dvd:

    BattleBowl

    &

    Magnum T.A. vs. Tully Blanchard:

  • whats funny is that you gave the NWO chamber a 5star, which by the way is stupid.. and you give all those classic flair matches a 4 and a half, you must regret your NWO ratings lol at least one of those is 5 stars, stupid fucking annoying star system

  • 3 Count FTW!

  • My bad, it was the samoan's

  • My personal favorit Starrcade match was excluded. Barry Window vs. Bam Bam Bigelow; although the finish nearly ruined it. I guess I should have started the write-in campaign.

  • Best of the great American bash be cool, definitely war Games, even like you said clash of the champions be cool too

  • A best of Clash of Champions DVD is a great idea for a DVD..nice!!

  • I seen ric flair v.s vader its one of ric flair's best i totally agree with you 110%

  • I bet I could find all of those matches on YouTube

  • Is there any way, for the love of god, you can stop saying hello all and welcome to this? Please I'm begging you.

  • but it's his thing!

  • How about hi and welcome to (insert title of video) instead of just saying THIS. Screw you all for giving me a minus for that. Learn to speak correctly tslay

  • Go back to Mothers for the intro.

  • he had to change it due to copyright reasons, he actually mentioned it on one of his Q and A's

  • Thanks dude.

  • New haircut? btw good review

  • I'm glad that Mysterio vs. Liger made it onto the DVD, but was disappointed that Ultimo Dragon vs. Malenko from that same year didn't. The series of matches those guys had were incredible.

  • Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Jushin Thunder Liger Starrcade 1996 is on the second Mysterio DVD (The Biggest Little Man) as well.

  • Kind of a low score for a dvd with so many 4-4 1/2 star matches

  • WWE should release a best of Slamboree DVD

  • And The Best Of War Games ! :D

  • I want a compleat match set of my all time favorite tag team. The Compleat Hollywood Blonds. rip Brian.

  • Well, I dont do the overused star rating thing, But all in all, I found the match list amazing, and I cant wait to purchase

  • Barry Windham / Brian Pillman vs.Ricky Steamboat / Shane Douglas shows you how you make a star.

  • TA/Blanchard I think is one of the greatest matches of all time.

  • Ric Flair vs Vader nice match indeed, but if you ask me ..Tully vs Magnum the best ..i quit match ever IMO.11/28/1985 Dusty Rhodes vs. Ric Flair, believe It or not.. come to find out later on down the line.. that the Referee made a controversial decision, just when i thought Dusty won the title clean, too bad for out side Interference the title went back to Ric as DQ,but Dusty still had the victory.

  • Barry Windham and Brian Pillman vs Shane Douglas and Ricky Steamboat was my favorite match on the DVD. But maybe because I'm a Windham mark.

  • Windham was a very underated wrestler...one of my favorites from this time period.

  • check my video collection please

  • i gave this dvd 10/10 as its a superb set even with the poor matches. WWE are sat on a goldmine with their wcw/nwa ecw tape libaries and not only wrestling historians will buy it but newer fans who want to see what this great sport is built on will as well> The top 3 matches are sooooooooooo good and its amazing tht the match isnt on the Flair dvd! could have done without goldberg/nash & hogan/sting match though! Great review dude

  • Wow you would really go **** stars for Guerrero/Malenko? I found it too slow. Still a great video.

  • ya i can agree it was one of the worse Guerrero/Malenko matches

  • Brian Pillman! In a tag vs Steamboat sounds great. Good review, rated

  • Another Amazing Video.

  • YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME.

  • Would be great to see WWE do more WCW stuff, would love to see a Rise and Fall of WCW type of DVD, WWE can do alot of stuff with WCW footage, maybe even do like a History of the Crusierweight Title and show off WCW Cruisers.

  • as i put in my comment below, a rise and fall dvd would make wwe millions of dollars for sure

  • Unlikely to happen IMO..they already have the Monday Night Wars DVD which pretty much covers the time period everyone likes to remember of WCW. When WCW started in '89 it still had the feel of NWA wrestling and the early 90s WCW under Watts isn't very memorable

  • I really think they just breifly covered it, all they really talked about was comparing themselves to the WWE and the nWo and that was about it, would have loved to see them cover the fueds that went on, their talent and rise to the number 1 spot, without talking about the WWE.

  • GREAT SHOW

  • i am at work but i would like to point out it took 12 hours for this vid to load not 9 jarrod :) anyways hope everyone thinks it was worththe wait

  • So this video has been available for over 9 hours, but YouTube hasn't published it on people's subscription pages, thus it's been at 0 views this entire time?

Man...why didn't LiveVideo beat out this site again? *Flash back to LV's server issues degrading the quality of the service* Oh right.

  • cool dvd
