ko phangan is about a 12 hour bus from bangkok and after waiting for the ferry which can take hours its another 4-8 hours depending if you get the day or night ferry. Iv gotten 3 ferries to kophangan, one was a massive party (just before FM), another was really quiet and one night boat which was horrible but essential. Get a flight from ThaiAir or Airasia from bangkok - Surat Thani or Ko Samui for about 30euro, 1 hour
