  • this guy is lonely

  • I often find myself behaving in a chivalrous way towards women too, moreso than to men (tho not holding doors - I think it's rude when you don't do that, regardless of the genders involved). It's not that I think women inherently need this because they are weak, mentally fragile, or inferior in any way (after all, I am a woman myself :-) It just gives me a happy feeling when ze ladies react positively to polite or sweet behaviour, so I suppose in my case the doting is rather selfish?

  • @Tioliah Yeah, that's making sense to me.

  • Y'all are too uptight! There is nothing wrong with holding a door open for someone for goodness sakes!

  • @CMO999 I'm uptight?! Holy shit, I should drink more.

  • Hitchens believes women should not have to work, and he's not a bad person.

Personally I think women should be encouraged to work.

    I shouldn't have to work.

  • Thxs for the reasonable comment - comments have been more negative than not. Good to hear. :)

You say you're sexist - I'm sexist too. Because it's the society we live in. I accept it and am guilty as well.

That being said the only point I was trying to make is that benevolent sexism has hidden costs. I'm not trying to attack men, or tell them to change their behavior towards women in that regard. I'm only asking (like you said) to be aware.

Glad to see you get it though. :) Take care!
