Plucking feathers on a live bird would be like someone pulling out your hair all at once to get the number needed to sell to millions of people. I would opt for synthetic feather to be more humane and save some money.

@twiggycandy You can get the feathers too after they died, but you would need to raise a huge farm like a chicken farm specifically to wait for them to naturally die. The natural process does take several years to do and costs a lot of money to do it because you would have to spend money on feeding them and having a place for them to live while you wait to them to die of natural causes.

@twiggycandy This method too makes for expensive feathers, but business who want to make a lot of money from the feather industry are thinking more on the "practical" shorter term process of killing them before their time to save money on feeding them.

Look into how those feathers were processed. Some of the feathers are taken from birds that are killed just for the feathers. They are in such high demand that they have to kill the animal to take the feathers. Ones that naturally fall out can be way more expensive since you are waiting for them to come off before they are processed.
