Repairs was a Connecticut band from the ealry 1970s. The band produced three albums in their years together. They were signed to Mowest a subsidiary of Motown Records. They were produced by Andrew Loog Oldham, the producer of the Rolling Stones. Repairs never gained national recognition or success. But it was a wonderful band with some terrific talents. I was in the band and created a podcast about the first album. It's on YouTube titled "Repairs podcast - Already A Household Word."
This is my dad's first band!!! They went from Connecticut to LA together! He was the guitar player. His name is Larry Treadwell and he is still rocking it down here in L.A. SO cool that you found this and posted it! yay!
I grew up in Repairs territory, and saw them live several times when I was a teenager. I have their first two LPs on vinyl. "Preacher" is indeed on their second album. The debut, "Already A Household Word", is a wonderful, wonderful record.
For some Repairs history, check out the script of a podcast put together by Repairs guitarist Jim Honeycutt. Google this string:

How cool is that to see some Repairs material up on Youtube. They indeed were from Connecticut and at one time worked with producer Andrew Loog Oldham. My uncle,Larry Treadwell, was one of the guitarists in this band.
how cool is it that your his nephew!! my friend found this all the way over in ireland. he liked the cover so he bought it. i have so many memories from this tune. i have played it to so many people. its a classic tune. i want everyone in the world to hear it!!! so would it be cool to uploaded the rest of the album? gona do a bit of researching now from your info. thanks mate
Wow, that IS cool. I have to tell you that the band I had with my buddies back in high school covered a Repairs tune: Larry's "Sleepwalking Child." Please tell your uncle that there are people out there who still love Repairs and all those great songs that he, Peter and the others wrote and recorded. The sung/played solo that starts around 4:30 has got to be Larry. Smokin!
One more thing: This song, "Preacher", was AMAZING live... it kicked the studio version's butt to the curb and back. That said, I'm VERY happy to have the studio version for posterity.
By the way, the tune was written and sung by Repairs bassist Mike Foley.
i found out man, they had 3 albums. first one is called "already a household word" and they're from connecticut. record co. is called "mowest" for their second album(i think thats the one with the preacher on it). did you vote today?
