  • maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalk!!! lol

  • malk? lol

  • Fascinating..

  • wow

  • it tastes good , but i used low fat milk , so the taste was a little off .

  • You probed that poor ice cube :(

  • Malk?

  • @Sonadar9

    moulk

  • Thanks for a great video!

  • we made this 2day in chemistry n it actually taste like store ice cream

  • I wouldn't try laundry detergent

  • Okay you showed us the how...what about the WHY? WHY does the salt make the ice temp drop? Y-Y-Y-Y-Y!!!

  • @rexenne Common rock salt, NaCl, separates into ions Na+ and Cl- when it comes into contact with ice. This leads ionic forces which cause movement, and according to the conservation of energy, the energy required for that movement has to come from somewhere- the surrounding heat. Therefore a temperature drop occurs due to the endothermic reaction, sometimes down to as low as -40C in the surroundings.

  • @rexenne if you find please tell me

  • I made this in first grade :D it's really good it tastes better than store bought!!!

  • @Delina159263 lol it does!!! :D

  • @mini11mak Yeeeah. But I tried makin it again and it didn't work? I got sad lol.

  • If you use ice that has a temperature of 32 F then you cannot freeze the icecream. However, if you lower the temperature of the ice (to below the freezing point of icecream) and use enough of it you should be able to freeze the icecream. Or you can place it in the freezer like others have suggested.

  • I watched this video to see if I could just throw the ice cream mix in my freezer and see if I could just ignore the entire salt in bag of ice thing., :l

  • My hand smells like vanilla now :D

  • Maybe to even out the flavor

  • What I was expecting was a video explaining "WHY" salt makes things colder. Sure, I already knew it made ice colder (I have made ice cream using this method many times), but I always wondered "WHY" it makes it cold. Great video nonetheless.

  • @Zockblin172 Why does the temperature drop? Energy is required to snap the hydrogen bonds that hold the ice together. The melting ice draws that energy from the surrounding solution as heat.

  • well "thebroken8ball" for me and friend it tasted even better then store bought ice cream

  • your video sucks like shit and your grandma

  • Someting to think about when you see the trucks spreading salt on the roads every winter ~

  • does it taste like store bought ice cream?

  • @TheBroken8Ball taste better but if your salt gets in to your milk it will taste nsty

  • @lolololol6027 shut the fuck up

  • @TheBroken8Ball it tastes better :D

  • eh just throw it in the freezer don't gotta have salt... it'll freeze it i mean you did pull the ice out at like 4.5 degrees... that should be cold enough for ice cream lol

  • Yeah, but the point of shaking the bag all over the place is to have a nice smooth texture. This cannot be achieved with a freezer. The bag needs to be moved.

  • Can't wait to make some of that ice cream! : )

  • im da pilipino too bro!:)hahahahah lols

    lmbo!

  • Awesome. Now I don't need an ice cream maker. Thank you!

  • I've listened to the BrainStuff Podcast for years. Seeing him speak is weird.

  • is it 2% milk?

  • Add sodium acetate to milk and see it all become uneatable hot ice.

  • Cool, had no idea salt had that effect. Guess that makes sense with glaciers forming out of sea water. Thanks for posting! I've added to our favorites. -- Roland

  • well if you live where there is snow and ice, you spread salt to prevent ice buildup on walking surfaces and roads.

  • okay cool and all but you were sooo off on your tmp readings when you were making the graph.

  • Pretty cool!!

  • cuz salt makes the temp low..

in order to freeze the ice cream...........

  • r u filipino cause i am

  • freeze*

  • cuz salt makes the temp low..

in order to frezee the ice cream..

  • 1 name mr 2 name____ 3 name t mr t

  • You have a thick and creamy ejaculate Marshall Brain.

  • 4:34 JOKES

  • when he says ice cream its funny XD

  • so how do u make ice cream.

it ran a lil to quick :P

  • at 2:23 i swear i here super mario world music any1ealse?

  • "have fun making ur ooooooown science experiment" 5:20

  • put the iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice in the bag

  • Science on the brain is a retarded name... Should be... His name: _________ Science...

  • Take 'some' salt.

    lol. You poured tonnes!

  • ROFL

  • is not possible that salt makes some chemical reaction with probe's metal creating a voltaje that disturb the meassure???

  • I told this my mom and she says that it was old way to make nand made ice cream..and aven it is wrighten in old soviet cooking books..

  • The question is if this icecream is tasty...

  • yay my 2 favorite subjects cooking and SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • when i make ice cream instead of using just milk, sugar, and vanilla...i added whip cream...idk y but i think it gave the ice cream more flavor and texture

  • sounds different, I would like to try that, what amount of whipped cream ratio, did you use?

  • Muy bueno !!! Gracias ,desde argentina ,en el sur...

  • hahahah melk

  • i looovvee your videos eventhough i barley started watching!!!

  • the way your explaining it is that you put the solutes in milk... 0.0 who puts salt in there milk lol.

  • i think he said salt on ice

  • whats milk? where the hell do u live????

  • i did that experiment in my science class today.. the ice cream was realleh good lol

  • oh milk. is it because salt water has a higher specific heat than normal water and hence needs to absorb more thermal energy to raise by the same number of degrees? The explanation in this video is incomplete to me.

  • Milk is mostly water with some extra solutes added. These solutes are what give milk a lower melting point then water itself.

  • what the fuck is melk?

  • milk smart one

  • I would love someone to walk into your kitchen whilst you're chattering away. =D

  • hhehe i wanna make that ..but i dont hav any vanilla o well

  • I love Ice cream do you

  • can u eat that?

  • yes

  • i remember i made that in my science class a long time ago. it hurts if you get the salt water on your hands, it really burns lol.

  • @vmkroxmysox no it wuldnt its just salt water like at the beach or watever

  • Wow its so freaaken simple to make ice A EASIER WAY! all ya need is a cup or sumthing and pour in water & Carefulllyy bring it to ur frezier & wait for an HOUR simple

  • so what hapend to ice cream :D?

  • now im hungry im going to make that

  • thats why your fat.

  • Lol.

  • lol you got this song from a fucking keybord

  • why doesnt anyone ask WHY salt lowers the freezing temperature? than interesting concepts like enthalpy and bond formation can be introduced...

  • thanx this vedio helpyt e because we made ice cream like doing what you did and my teacher as us to know why is inportant to use salt

  • that was very informational, thank you. :)

  • Couldnt you just mix the ingredients real well than simply freeze the whole thing in a bowl, etc?

  • soo...??? any one know if it taste good lol?

    :D

  • yes i did it in science class and its so bomb

  • it tastes good enough to be ice cream lol its not that bad

  • the answer is becuase to make lots of cold

  • Okay thanks for explaing it as I wanted to know why I couldnt just freeze the whole thing

  • Thanks for explaining. I was wondering about the salt :)

  • Thank you for this wonderful video!

  • theres over versions of what he is saying

what i did was put 20 large ice cubes in a bowel

with 1 small cup of water in and 4 table spoons of salt the put some chocolate milk and a little sugar in a bag seal the bag put it in the middle

of the bowl and stir the bag and ice for 10 min and it should be like snow then ure done.

  • best of the best

  • i remember doing this in preschool

  • if it raises or lower the freezing point how come it melts faster????????

  • can you take vanila sugar??

  • omg

  • aw sickk thanks for making the video i usually dont really get science but u made it simple and now im guna go make some ice cream

  • haahah i tried it once and i was like how come its not turning into icecream and i was like oh shit i forgot the salt and ive been trying to freeze it for like half an hour and my mom was like you dumbshit

  • lol

  • sorry IT RAISES THE FREEZING TEMP.!!!!!

    sorrysorrysorrysorry

  • salt lowers the minimum freezing temp.

    for liquid

  • cooool☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺

  • cool! ima go make me some ice cream...

    what is that about salt?

  • ☺§§§☺§§§☺

    § cool! §

    § huh §

    ☺§§§☺§§§☺

  • dont you need half and half?

  • this guys rad MARSHALL BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You so helped me with my Science project!

  • kool

  • ☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺

    ☺Hehe cool ☺

    ☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻☺☻

  • i did that on my lab for school!

  • you dont add the salt to the milk ☺

  • you add the salt to the ice, not the milk.

  • this is awsome, i knew how to do it, but know i understand why we have to pour salt... this guy is a genius :)

  • Im going to try that.

  • I think I heard about this when I was 6 years old.

  • the other shit i did not wanna know i just wanna know how too make ice cream......... I LOVE ICE CREAM =D

    and pie =/

  • great vid for the under 12s lol

  • OK it lowers the temperature, but why? I guess it lowers the freezing point of water and in contact with ice cubes water don't freeze, it seems that it lowers the temperature, am I right?

  • Without salt the ice cube gains heat. Eventually the ice cube is gaining heat as quickly as it using energy to melt itself (the horizontal line). Once you add salt you lower the freezing point, this then causes the ice to quickly use up the extra energy it has (the drop on the graph).

  • yuck i added to much vanila

  • im trying it right now i hope it works cuzz i want ice cream !

  • Urmm...that jingle at the beginning is actually what my Yamaha keyboard plays in demo mode.....

  • 5 stars keep it up!

  • thanks f0r sharing~

  • dude i made ice cream like this in 2nd grade.... i did know salt lowers the freezing point, but i didnt know excactly y. my cousin used ice and salt to get frostbite

  • Farenheit sucks !

  • my brother thanks his life on you helping him with a science project! thanks:: 5/5

  • maby one experiment someone can do is to also make the ice with salt disolved in it, and determine how much salt can be disolved into an ice cube - or am i wrong ; maby the ice wont freeze at all?

  • Into shortcuts? Let's feed mao to tuna!

  • you're awesome dude.

  • 5 stars man keep it up i will try that in the studio soon here so keep it up because we need something to do lol
