Those are some retarded guards. You've got one of the strongest most vicious serial killers ever and your gonna let him walk around with no cuffs on and walk up to you and get near your shotgun? Really? I don't care what prison protocol is for physical force, assuming I was a prison guard and somehow everything went retarded enough for MIckey to be sitting around in no shackles, I would buttsroke him to the head the second he tried to get out of his chair.
@ActaNonVerba71 Clearly you haven't seen the whole film, the last thing this is: is realistic. It is more of a story of how the Media (Wayne Gale) Blows everything and the wrong things out of proportion. So watch it again .. but through Wayne Gale's eyes ... it makes more sense, In the story probably what really happened was a scuffle with one guard and an ugly fight and the gun getting turned on him. But in Wayne Gales eyes .. he's like Billy the Kid One shotting everything .. no resistance.
@xeononyx I hate when people say "clearly" or "obviously" or something like that. It's condescending and presumptuous. I did see the entire movie, twice.
This movie was brutal, violent, psychotic, insane, disgusting, vulgur, and extremely disturbing!! In other words ONE OF THE GREATEST FUCKIN MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!
This is the oly part of the movie that doesn't fit in. Sure, the idea of Mickey charming his way out and the explosion of violence and sound works visually, but the actual script bothers me. Why would the warden leave so many guards for just one prisoner when there's a riot going on? Why didn't he have Mickey cuffed and subdued before going? And why on earth are the guards acting so stupid?
@jonarirokk Oh, I wouldn't say anything is "up", not specifically. I was a bit bothered with this scene breaking the suspension of disbelief, because it seemingly tried to portray Mickey's escape in a brutally realistic way, but the realism somehow got a bit mixed-up (though the comic relief with the donut was spot on). And that's about it.
Anyway, what's not to like about Tom Brier's humorous and skillfully-played sight reading?
@nanuaraq0409 Oliver Stone said that he deliberately ignored some plot holes and implausibilities with prison protocol for the purposes of the film, it's in the director's commentary.
Love it when inmate destroys TV and says "ALRIGHT MICKEY"
Prison guard must have been shiting and pissing in his pants when he was shoved in the tumble dryer and must be terrifying when all those psychopaths are chasing after you.
@facecycle how could u not like this movie its like ur in the mind of a killer its so tripped out and all the characters are so scummy and shit i love this movie
to this day i still have a split meaning about this flick, but the way Bombtrack is built into this scene is just amazing... and harrelson and Downey Jr so fucking own this flick
Yep, only in hollywood movies would prison guards be totally dumb enough to let a guy who's killed over 30 people, close to a dozen of which were cops, walk free among them completely unshackled during the middle of a bloody riot he just instigated.
Used to really like this movie when I was younger, but it's really lost its appeal to me as I've gotten older.
damn that muthafucka was on a mission... badass shit right here this an amazing peice of cinema i love how dirty he does those piggies n the news bitch hahahaha NBK 4 THA MUTHAFUCKIN WIN!!!!!

If applied to 2011, the prison riot would serve as an appropriate response to Casey Anthony walking a free woman.

@theblackandtan these screams from the movie, not the song. if you look at the background, even you can see who's screaming.
