The Ram is an awesome unit to use against a "Compact Defence. Since the range units are gone, the battle starts much closer meaning rmasn take considerably less hits before inflicting damage themselves. Once walls are down, Rams do HUGE damage.

battering rams are good if you have the production to make them. 100k rams will do a great deal of damage. I manage to take out nearly 500k archers in 1 wave of 100k rams. But I won't do it again because it's just too much effort. stick to the cataphract.

They arent used for traps you newb! Rams are great vs breaking down wall defenses and also protecting defense breaking armies such as ballistas+archers combinations. Since the focus will be ont eh rams, your archer casaulty will be less. The usage is very technical and effective for high lv gameplay.
