  • Glorious! One of the all time greats. Bravo! TY.

  • Thanks Paul for this.I sat spellbound from the first chord of Il Puritani.

  • lochness11-Now listen to Cortis and Lazaro. While you are at it include among these Spaniards the awesome Italian Pertile. Enjoy!

P.S.-Cortis is my favourite, and his O Lola, and werther by Massenet are both awesome!

  • THIS record was indubitably prompted by Lazaro's!

Pretty good for Fleta (to whom one is a bit allergic) but, whereas Lázaro could impart a tremendous romantic passion to all the graces, which he executes with that ecstatic narcissism one expects from a great tenor, Fleta's ornaments sound vague and mannered: he just has no expressive idea of what they are for. And compare Fleta's wobbly, bumpy, filatura at the end with Lázaro's many lovely lingerings.

  • Well, that was pretty bitchy....

One should probably avoid those to whom one is allergic.

One is entitled to one's opinion, though, I suppose.

  • Especially if that opinion is geared to specific details, not vague personal comments.

  • AulicExclusiva-Fleta and Lazaro are both great Spanish tenors. Many consider Fleta to be the equal of Caruso. What praise have you for the awesome Cortis.

  • I completely disagree with everything you said above.

  • A Wonderfull Tenor!

    Thank you very mach! :)

  • historic recording!

  • This a gorgeous recording, thank you!

  • This is a wonderful recording. Thanks for posting.

  • Oh, I never liked his recordings before, but this is lovely...Thanks for posting!

  • Yes, it seems the least affected by his mannerisms.

  • @merrihew It is clearly "bel canto" and also is plenty of "mannerisms". That is why I love it .

  • @merrihew do you have the complete opera on cd?
