As haunting as the lyrics are, the blues riff and rhythm, and just the music in general gives you the feeling of being sleep deprived, like you've been driving all through the night. This IS the kind of song that if you were to play this on the radio you would HAVE to play it at night. @6925thcobras - I completely agree, that's the best way to describe this song. It truly does bring out the pain in your soul.
This song isn't about the blues. This song is about watching someone dying of tuberculosis. And telling them not to cry about it; "it ain't natural." And someone being able to smell that sickness on the sickbed sheets, and not being able to breathe "crack the window, I can't breathe!" Can you see why it haunts me now?
@6ollie66 Van has done heaps of blues since this check out some of the clips on my site on Youtube Vossmeister Albums like Too long in Exile, Keep it simple, Back op top, the Philosopher's Stone all have blues on them. Practically all his live shows have blues tracks in Them. Martin Scorcese's Red White & Blues DVD The British Invasion have Van doing "lot's of blues. Van is still blues.

@dave10524 "T.B. Sheets" is written and recorded by Van Morrison in 1967 and included on his first solo album, Blowin' Your Mind! , later covered by John Lee Hooker on his 1972 album, Never Get Out of These Blues Alive.
@jamexcel I know Van wrote TB Sheets, the singing style is reminicient of Hooker, I have some video of Hooker and Van doing a couple of duets on a dock along a river, it is obvious that Van looks up to Hooker as a student would a mentor
One of the all time greatest tunes by Van the Man......Geez- it's March 19, 2010 and only 2,143 views---there should be a million by now! Huh....Open up the window and let me breath...the cool room is a fools room....but, uh, I gotta go
Great upload but guarantee it won't last. Not sure why, but this song always ends up getting pulled. First heard it on the Bringing Out the Dead soundtrack, finally bought the album late last year, worth every penny, just for this track alone.
Her sheets are infected with tuberculosis. He is visiting her and feeling the ultimate anxiety from being able to "almost smell" the infection. Watching someone die and not wanting to breathe in the same air. Denial.
I was looking for a free version of that song that I think is one of the best R&R song ever written. I have the vynil but now I can share it so I can spread it!!!. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
