  • Great lesson. However, more emphasis should be given to the proper leg position of the running stride. As pointed out in the video, reaching as far as the leg can go is detrimental to speed, but unfortunately many coaches do not correct this problem or worse yet, encourage the person to reach far forward on the stride. The simplest way to teach the technique is have the runner lift the knees as much as possible and plant the foot right under it when coming down.

  • these are actually really good tips here. i'm more into power lifting and power training but i found out building speed teaches your body to recuit more fibers needed much faster rate meaning increasing explosive power. that's way i'm going to start speed training. it will help me with overall power for lifting heavy.

  • @drepro93 Q: "Does flat feet make you run slower" A: Depends what distance you are running. A sprinter will run on their toes as it increases the length of their legs. Middle distance runners run with flatter feet as it is much more economical. This can be seen by looking at a pair of spikes- sprinting spikes generally have no cushioning at the heel which forces the athlete onto their toes. Middle distance spikes have cushioning and maybe even some very small moulded spikes on the heel.

  • @drepro93 not necessarily. I have flat feet and I ran a 10.52 in high school. It's just that we get cramps where we would have the arch so it makes it hard to stay on our toes. I recommend getting insoles with arch's built in to them if your doing a 400 or sometimes even on the 200m.

  • yes it does, acceleration helps in any sport. In hockey i think your moving your legs in a lateral motion instead of just a straight motion. But yeah it still helps.

  • tis vid is filled with alot of bs. in order to accellerate faster is to work out on your fast muscles...no not weight lifting, thats for strength & endurance purposes, but resistance training for your legs. What is also most important is sprinting technique. That is sprinting with your upper body leaning foward at your full speed, legs extending as far as possible and running on your toes. Just get a right rythym learn good breathing techniques (yoga) and sprint with great speed & velocity.

  • It depends on how you lift. The old school method of 8-12 reps will make you bigger, but won't make you as strong, which would hurt a runner due to the extra weight. Strength Training, or going for 4-7 reps with heavier weights would make you stronger. Cardio lifting, (12+) with lighter weights is used to promote endurance and not strength gain so much. Power lifting would be the best for sprinters, where a weight (70%-90%) of your max is used until failure with a lot of reps, and done quickly.

  • you will also want to swing your outter arm alot harder than your inside one when running on corners and on your starts never raise your hips far above your head, it will result in you just going straight into the ground and you will fall. If you need any other tips just ask me, i may not be the fastest man in the world, but i know how to run effectively and im willing to help anyone who wants it

  • i do a 200m in 23.6 and im 14. i also do the 100m in a 10.8 no joke. This video is so true. If you stay relaxed and just worry about technique you will do just great! Always remember to focus on technique and not your stamina, and also keep your face relaxed, its unbelievable how much of a difference this makes as well as staying on the balls of your feet. Best of luck to all athletes out there!
