  • Like others have said, kipping pullups. These are for people who cannot do real pullups.

  • is this the new HD Toaster i keep hearing about?

  • If he is trying to get a BIG back, it is not gonna happen for him. This guy sucks!

  • really??? Making fun of ppl with a camera like this?????

  • kipping pullups, im sure this was said 9 times already but im to lazy to scroll down. Its great when someone is trying to make fun of someone elses technique yet they end up looking like the idiot

  • kipping pullup. often used in crossfit, just a different type of pullup

  • whic pixel is dude doing it ?

  • this was shot with a calculator

  • i think they call it a kip pull-up.im an olympic lifter.i dont care that much for crossfit, but hey, always,to each his own.

  • That's a crossfit pull up. Otherwise known as "not a real pull up"

  • It's called a kipping pull-up

  • @CrazyAuron1 AKA the Pussy Pull-up

  • this was shot with a potato

  • These are crossfit style pull ups as stated before. The idea is to do the same range of motion....MORE. See how many dead hang pull ups you can do. Do some pull ups like this a couple weeks and see if you dont improve your dead hangs. Just sayin, not everyone is the same but it worked wonders for me.

  • its like cross fit pull ups but chin up version...hes prob not doing crossfit tho...so my bet is hes a dumbass

  • You're all wrong it was filmed with a potato. Plus, it's ok coz he's wearing gloves (i think).

  • pull ups dont impress me.....Any twink at 120lbs can do those......

  • @GoingPro562 it's only the best upper body exercise there is. who needs it.

  • @GoingPro562 True that, I could do like 10-12 of them in 6th grade when I probably couldn't even bench press the bar or curl 10 lb dumbbells.

  • did you record this with a foot?

  • Just because it's not perfect form doesn't mean it's easy. You have any idea how fucking hard it is to come up after fully extending your arms like that?

  • he probably weighs like 50 pounds

  • Is this recorded with a toaster????

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ) WHAT PIXEL DO I WATCH!?!?

  • 2008 = 4:3 and 5fps.

  • just because your weak ass cant do them!!

  • Who gives a shit what other people are doing in the gym??? I don't these masses of people who have a fetish for obsessing with how others choose to exercise.

  • @tiberias111

    get*

  • nope USMC looks for dead hangs. at least 5, 20 for 100. not a Marine yet but working on it

  • Idiot.

Its a popular high school dance called the funky chicken.

  • so ummm... was this recorded with a rock??

  • The wooden camera I got from Moses has better fuckin' quality than this video. Upgrade your shit you poor loser.

  • @immaphatskank He may have been recording with his phone.

  • @immaphatskank It was filmed with a calculator.

  • They no longer allow a kipping movement but have dropped the 100% score to 20 dead hangs, they no longer do sit ups for 80/2min....they now do crunches at 100/2min and the run remains 3mi/18min.

  • Kipping was indeed allowed when I was in Boot camp at MCRD back in the 80's....our DI's actually instructed us in the motion 30 pull ups were considered a perfect score, 18 minute 3 mile run and 80 sit ups in 2 minutes if I remember correctly. It would appear that this rule has changed so in essence....we both had a valid point!

  • @labete1971 I was in San diego in 86 and it was only 20 pull ups for max 100 points on PFT. You could kip, but you had to lower yourself untill your arms were straight.

  • Kipping....actually, with quite good form. This is a form that the Marine Corp utilizes (teaches) recruits for their PT tests.....I believe the record at MCRD in San Diego was like 400-450 for a set.

  • @labete1971 lol'd so hard...

The marines don't use kipping pullups AT ALL. Correct form is to be absolutely rigid. Not even having bent knees. Dead hang is implied.

  • @ThatOneGuyWhoIsMe ....Wow....well you may wanna tell the Marine Corp that......they sure did in '89 when I was there.

  • Actually, i always admit my blunders,....I contacted an active duty friend of mine and he sent me the rules for the pull up phase of the PT test. Although once allowed....kipping is no longer allowed!

  • (6) The Marine’s legs may be positioned in a straight or bent position, but may not be raised above the waist.

  • 8) The intent is to execute a vertical “dead hang” pull-up. A certain amount of inherent body movement will occur as the pull-up is executed. However, the intent is to avoid a pendulum-like motion that enhances the ability to execute the pull-up. Whipping, kicking, kipping of the body or legs, or any leg movement used to assist in the vertical progression of the pull-up is not authorized. If observed, the repetition will not count for score.

  • which pixel is he?

  • To all those knocking kipping pull ups, a gymnast on a bar or a parkour guy going up a wall, should they just stop and hang then do a perfect pull up? Kinda defeats the purpose of parkour which is get from a to b fastest way possible, and gymnast bar routines would be quite unexciting to watch I'm guessing. They are for a different purpose is all.

  • So many hot women at the gym, and you record a guy?

  • did you film this with a potato?

  • nothing wrong with kipping pull ups. its a gymnastics staple, and im betting my life none of the meat heads decrying them have one tenth the endurance or even half the pull up strength of most accomplished gymnasts. how many of you guys saying they are shit can actually do, say, 50 of them? or L sits? or muscle ups? when im doing metcon and high volume is needed, i kip. when im doing a strength session i dead hang. its not hard to work out. you wouldnt say Cleans are just 'pussy' high pulls.

  • You love recording men

  • This was filmed with an eggplant.

  • @xeotech1

You're insulting good eggplant-taken video everywhere.

  • hes trying to use momentum because hes too fucking faggy and weak to do real pull ups. fucking worthless jew bastard

  • Kipping is good and bad. I like to rotate it in and out just like plyometric push ups if you only do those you are cheating your selft

  • kipping. you can do like 80 of those no sweat

  • These are called kipping pull ups you jag.

  • I had a seizure WATCHING this blurry blob of a video.

  • ENACTED 2011

MAN RULE NO. 362. CODE (.)467 STOP RECORDING OTHER GUYS!

  • it seems he is too coordinated for you to understand what he is doing . get out of your bodybuilding narrow mind set and learn other things

  • @lechoso72

lol at people saying bodybuilding has a narrow mindset. crossfit has the most narrow mindset - they think they know everything and their way is the only way to train - total elitist dickwads that generally have horrible form on olympic lifts.

  • @madvasc /fit/ bro?

  • kipping pullups morons

  • Should've shoved a dildo in his ass

  • ive seen alot worse

  • Looks like forced reps to me.

  • This is a real technique used to focus on whole body strength it's that crossfit stuff

  • Why use so much momentum, random leg-kicking guy? Is meant for arm, not leg you dum dum.

  • @ScubaSteveOops

It's to assist your pull ups when you're not strong enough to finish all your reps.

  • @mst3k4evur If he can't do pull-ups without momentum, maybe he should do negative pullups. Jump up, and using all your arm strength, slowly let yourself down. This conditions you for an unassisted pullup. Wait....he (Mr. Momentum) should learn this because I assume you know this.

  • @ScubaSteveOops

He could do that, but it takes upwards of a year to build the lats up using negatives. That may not fit into his routine, as circuit routines require a lot of reps very close together. Myself, I'm just glad my gym has a lat pull down machine as I'm carrying too much bodyfat and will be until my cutting phase.

  • @mst3k4evur True, but he could just do negatives until he can do one pullup w/o using assist. Then, he's good to go lol. Gyms rock, and pull-up/dip/leg-raise stations are awesome :)

  • @ScubaSteveOops its a back/lat exercise you stupid twat

  • @silex7777777 I know that. You use your arms as well as your back in this exercise.

  • Man it must be easy to do pull up when you weigh under 90lbs lol.

  • watch?v=F2PVZpjRQuk

this is why kipping pull-ups are used, not why they are better, but how they are different. don't be be ignorant

  • kiplling pulls up use more of the body?......how about you do some deadlifts instead then? Kippling pullups are geat because you can get no back and beat fuck out your shoulders at the same time.

  • guy who posted this is a dumbass

  • @chriscaie yes, as well as ignotrant and probably does his two hundrad pound kipping bicep curls in the squat rack.

  • im incliined to agree with others on here, theres nothing wrong that i can see. I've certanley seen worse!

  • i hate that crappy pullup form. i see that crap all the time in the gym

  • Comment removed

  • When I enlisted to the USMC, they allowed kipping on the PFT (physical fitness test) but after a while they made it dead hang.

  • @Jerimiah1977 ya and they used to do situps too

  • @MrRanger1987 yeah, now they do crunches because they are not as (potentially) damaging to the back. Semper Fi.

  • @Jerimiah1977 i felt sit ups in my hip flexors more than my abs which i could understand would help with running but we also did flutter kicks like fuckin crazy in the army but no additional ab work. i didnt actually start running faster and breathing better until i started doing crunches and took out the sit ups anyways. crunches and flutter kicks are way more beneficial than situps and flutter kick combination IMO anyways so USMC ahead of the game again

  • if you can do 100crunches you can surely do the minimum required army sit ups to pass and vise versa.. if you can do the minimum army situps you can do that Marine crunches to pass. but it all comes down to results/carry over and injury prevention and thats where i believe Marines are ahead of the game. we did some pull ups in BCT but alot of pushups and situps. Marines do a lot of pullups, crunches and pushups even though they dont test on push ups so all around i think its a better program

  • @MrRanger1987 I remember flutter kicks, and other bits of fun and enjoyment like 8-count body builders and dips. Did you have "the Pit" in Army Basic? It's just a big open sand pit that you are punished in, you have to do all sorts of PT so you get covered by the sand that sticks to the sweat.

  • @Jerimiah1977 the only thing we did in the pit was sprints holding our m16 above our head... we did like 5 then lined up and they drill sgts said if everybody keeps them locked out over head standing here for 1min we can all quit. and of course there is always the one guy that drops it so an hour later you get guys yelling at other guys telling them come on dude keep it up we are almost done. so when they talked we had to run more. so 800m turned into 2 hours of pit sprints

  • @Jerimiah1977 i think one time during night land navigation one of the platoons dicked off and we had to stay out all night low crawling in the pit and doing some front back goes while they sang... on your belly on your back on your feet. other than that we spent most of BCT in the front leaning rest that was just about it

  • next time could u use a worse camera? I can almost c whats happening here...

  • you suck.

  • lmao!!! these are crossfit 'pull ups' for those who can't do real pull ups.

  • @915gmo you are so ignorant. kipping pull ups are used in crossfits because they save time when you are trying to do a WOD for time. they also involve more of the body and require much more coordination to do, I doubt you would have the slightest idea how to do a kipping pull-up. strict pull-ups are great don't get me wrong, but there are different ways of doing pull-ups just like any other exercise. so next time know what you're talking about before you make a fool of yourself.

  • @realmenrowport1 how does "kipping", my bad cheating, save time?

  • @nox1723 because it allows you to do more pull-ups in a shorter amount of time since it engages a lot more muscle groups to achieve the same movement. ya its easier, but it requires more endurance and co ordination. its not cheating, its a different way of doing pull-ups like i said

  • @realmenrowport1 It is 100% fact that high repetition exercises no matter how easy burn more fat and are more cardio intensive than any powerlifting or body buildint set of 10 exercise in the world. When people say OMG Kip-ups are way easier then tell them it is simply because the intent is entirely different.

  • @bubbyj EXACTLY my point

  • @bubbyj thats actually not a fact, have a read around

  • I counted 0 reps...

Chest has to touch your hands or it doesn't count. Way too fast too, I bet he couldn't do 1 real rep.

  • For the 8,000th time, these are kipping pullups, not dead-hang pullups. If you don't know the difference, don't make a fool out of yourself recording someone in a gym.

  • @decadyne Thats right!

  • @decadyne that still doesnt make it right or even less funny

  • @jtoddjb

What? You're saying that correctly doing a variety of pullups "doesn't make it right"? Yes. It does. He's doing it correctly. You simply don't know what a kipping pullup is. Secondly, if you find it funny, you don't know what a kipping pullup is. How about this: how about you go get half a clue about working out, then come back to me to report what you've learned. Ok? Cool.

  • @decadyne typical crossfitter , lets do something wrong , give it a name and continue being super awsome cool, i ll stick to lifting weights and you stick to you wods and almonds and swinging from pullupbars like fag monkeys ok ? cool.

  • @jtoddjb just wow, you're such a tool, you call doing a bicep curl or machine press lifting weights? you're weak i bet you wouldnt last one workout in crossfit

  • @decadyne call them wat u will, but that guy is having a seizure.

  • ...You're an idiot for poking fun at this...These were kipping pullups that seemed to be well executed. Not everyone is looking to completely isolate their lats in this exercise. Kipping pullups are useful in their own regard.

  • i agree.....all these faggots making fun of him trying to give advice are either skinny tools and fat fucks.

  • You are a complete faggot and I wish I could hate you to death.

  • @anon6952 oh really? And why is that? Do you disagree with me? Maybe you should go to your local library and dig up some scholarly research which negates the athletic benefits of kipping pullups...But you wont do that, will you?

  • I'm an exercise science major in college pal - kipping pullups are all about wasted motion and vanity. Classic pull-ups have been done for thousands of years for a reason - they are excellent for lat, biceps, delt and even pectoral development. Kipping pullups are only for CrossFit - the scientology of fitness

  • @anon6952, I don't give a shit where you go to school, or what your major is. If you want to disagree with me, find me multiple sources which would CONCLUSIVELY suggest that there is NOTHING to be gained from doing a pullup this way. Wasted motion and vanity, huh? I suppose the latter is real easy to prove. You started with a graduate level historian so unless you can back up your cute little argument, you're just a bitch. Kipping pullups serve a purpose, even if that purpose isnt isolation

  • I wish I had the time to make a study about pull-ups versus "kipping" pull-ups, but sadly I have much more important things to do than prove your broscience wrong - do it yourself! Go to your "crossfit gym" and do sets of pull-ups versus your bulllshit "kipping pull-ups" and see which requires more work. The reason you can do 20-30 kipping pullups is the same reason you can (probably) do 30 sets of a 135 bench press - it causes much less of a contraction in your skeletal muscle. It's a waste.

  • God you are retarded. I never once attempted to argue that one kind of pullup was better than the other. In fact, they are both completely different exercises. #1 Learn to read critically. #2 - it is not my job to prove myself wrong, its yours, since you are the one who opened your mouth. If you can't easily prove your point, then guess what? It's probably not true! Douche. #3 - because of #1 and #2, take your experiment and shove it up your ass.

  • u mad?

  • Nah, I wouldnt waste that kind of emotion on you.

  • lol enjoy wasting your time in the gym faggot; I hope you tear your rotator cuff

  • Enjoy being that douche in life who repeatedly starts arguments he can't win.

I don't give a shit what you hope, bitch.

  • Lol you have already lost pal... anyone who would argue this kind of ridiculous "exercise" is already a loser for life!

  • Nope. Prove something for once.

  • @yeagemk

You are such an idiot! The fact that one is harder than the other does not mean one is better or worse. The kipping pull up teaches you to use momentum which is great for a) people learning to do ordinary pull ups, or going to failure more effectively, and b) people learning to do the muscle up. Gymnasts use the kipping pull up in so many movements. Of course, they also use the 'normal' pull up if needed.

  • @dw5903

Lol, now I look like the idiot for responding to the wrong user! Classic. Anon6952 is the retard.

  • @dw5903...Why dont you go back and carefully reread my argument with Anon6952: my entire argument with him was based around the fact that I beleive kipping pullups ARE a useful exercise. Clearly you didnt read shit.

  • Some guy has done this at my gym and my brother and i couldnt stop laughing along with other people.

  • newfag? does that make u and old fag?

  • kipping pull ups = none of them counted

  • Dude are you serious? It's called kipping pull ups. You use your momentum then it becomes an endurance workout not an isolation. Better for your shoulders aswell.

  • i see so many fat and chubby ass guys in their 20's coming to gym and liftin heavy weights and screamin on top of their lungs like they r the shyt its pathetic

  • dude me to .....its the most irritating thing in the world

  • and they act like they got loads of muscles walkin all big and shyt after doing 4 reps of heavy bench press and not even doin it rite

  • You didn't spell rite right.

  • its kay i was too lazy that nite lol

  • you didn't spell nite right night.

  • bro its youtube not english class so dont matta

  • Matter*

  • i hav to agree iths youtubeee nut grmaar classs !!

  • IT'S NOT THAT BAD!!! And atleast he is doing SOMETHING! He could be lying on the sofa watching tv...

  • Comment removed

  • He might have been at the end of the set or doing zero effort training (i know "ZERO effort" lol) and trying to get as many reps as possible. There is no one way to do an exercise (ask most top athletes). There is proper form, but after doing strict form you need momentum to beat the day lights out of the muscle. Sometimes it's better than negatives because you're still somewhat pulling yourself up. Plus slow on the way down isn't always good, it depends on your goal.

  • it looks like his doing a chin up but then dropping himself, your really supposed to pull yourself up and let yourself down slowly to get the full effect

  • Anyone who thinks this is bad form should visit the Crossfit site, because if you don't know what these are whatever workout you are doing then is mediocre at best,,,

  • i believe those are called kipping pullups.

they have 'bad form' so that you can pull more reps out.

the cross fit people do them a bunch to pull out more reps in their workouts

  • I heard you like mudkips?!?!?!?!

  • I heard you're a newfag

  • He could have done like 10 or 15 correctly and cheating on these ones to get out a few more reps.....

  • Ok seriously this guys form sucks, reading some comments below if you think his form is not bad you know nothing about training. For one he is whipping is legs up for some velocity since he can't do regular chin ups, and over half of the work out is lowering yourself slowly instead of letting yourself drop. I see people doing this just about everyday and i seriously cannot watch them because it pisses me off. People like this are the reason personal trainers exist.

  • I hear you! This is one of the major reasons why I'm having to switch gyms, it's just too painful seeing nearly everyone work out like that. Unfortunately people like this also won't be taught.

  • lmao, people like you and the guy who posted this video who get so bent out of shape over other people's form...you should probably spend less time sitting around critiqueing other people in the gym, and more time doing your own workout.

  • Dude....if you think this is funny you should see my buddy. It's so embarrassing to work out with this guy, his excuse is that he's doing "fast twitch" and he has seizures with every exercise. Fast twitch rows, fast twitch bench, fast twitch squats. It's a total spectacle...

  • I understand that in reality you don't know what the guy is trying to achieve, you're only assuming. But, sometimes you can kind of tell they think they just doing pull ups for instance, when really they're doing something else. Gym staff should really step in for a chat. Friendly chat around what he's into etc. May be able to help him out.

  • some people get distracted with this ongoing discussion of "correct form". This is a perfectly legitimate way to do a pullup - its a different kind of workout. I agree 100% with spamburgerizer

  • im pretty sure these are called PULL ups..... not kip ups.

  • can any one not see hes pushing of the floor?

  • If you want explosiveness do the clean and jerk or the snatch.

  • ....in addition to these pullups!

  • Its not necessarily bad form, it depends on his training goals and methodology. For all you know he could be preparing for a bouldering competition in which case he would need that explosiveness.

  • more of a seizure than a pull up

  • I disagree. Although kipping is a good way to get to that extra failure level, I still think a concentrated pull up with strict form, with a spotter is better. but watevs were all entitled to our opinions

  • word+1

  • better for what, exactly?

  • Looks like a good kipping pullups to me!!!

  • ya it's called kipping. it takes horizontal momentum and turns it into vertical momentum. legit way of doing pullups

  • yup buddy those are pull-ups, are you one of those high school athletes that been to the gym 4 times and thinks e has 5 personal training certs? Yeah you should start with regular pullups but when you get to failure you can use "cheat form" this just so happens to be the cheat form for pullups, it's called kipping. Just like there is a cheat form for curls, and bent over rows, there is one for pull-ups. It lets you get more in before COMPLETE muscle failure, FAIL on posting tis video

  • its not cheat form its a different exercise

  • not the correct form to do pullups but whatever..

  • pullups

  • seizure?! wtf lol

  • THIS IS WAY BETTER THAN THE STANDARD BODYBUILDING TYPE PULLUP. tHIS TYPE IS A LOT MORE FUNCTIONAL AND RESEMBLES NORMAL MOVEMENT

  • YA I KNOW CAUSE WE LOVE THE CAPS LOCk.

  • CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

  • Some people know nothing..from someone who knows 10x as much as you:

Kipping allows more work to be done in less time, thus increasing power output. It is also a full-body coordination movement when performed correctly, which applies more functionally to real-life application of pulling skills. Last, but not least, the hip motion of an effective kip mirrors the motion of the olympic lifts/kettlebell swings, adding to it's function as a posterior-chain developer."

  • that exercise is called kipping, and he is actually doing them bloody awesome!! If u can do them they are way more effective than a standard pullup
