apparently horn of plenty mushrooms are closely related to chanterelles and are just as tasty! A number of mushrooms have toxins that are destroyed by cooking. Bottom line, always cook mushrooms. But even more important: when in doubt, throw it out!

Craterellus is so HARD to spot...I've never found one. Found lots of those Russulas, though. I have some right now- maybe I should pickle 'em! I would love to go mushrooming with this guy, I'm sure he's a great teacher.
