The film tries to be too many things - a docu, a suspense film (falls flat on that account), an emotional drama, a social critique. Lacks depth in any of these. After half an hour into the film I got really bored. The endless repetitions of cliched "atmospheric shots" really tried my patience. Even the dancing part is so cursory and un-funny as to warrant only a smirk before you leave the hall seeking refuge from the uninteresting characters in the film
@cinemablitz - you might wanna check to see if you're alive, or have any emotion, or blood flowing through your soul. this film was moving, and as pretentious as your review - the film was just the opposite; a beautifully shot slice of a fascinating look into the light and dark of one man's life. I don't think the dance was meant to be funny as much as it was ironic. the film also contained some poignant quotes about living in Kolkata, why would you write such a negative review?
