  • It's on steam atm for under £8! I love steam sales :)

  • Beast

  • Yeah, that's what I thought before I started playing. It's not that bad, great motion capture, new and new animations kept me interested, also hard mode is more interesting with such fighting system. Nevertheless, the game is just great and fighting system could have been worse (autoattacking). :)

  • The best game trailer for me, much better than the intro itself, great cutting, immersive music and synchronization!

  • @dizzt19 I agree man, you are wright!

  • @dizzt19 Have you seen the Assassins Creed: Brotherhood trailer? That is some epic shit as well.

  • It was on steam the other day for 28 bucks but I missed it! Is it worth $40?

  • best RPG i evah played

  • @Frankykarot1982 100%!!

  • oh yeah this is a dang good game

  • its good

  • @DarthMessias man this game simply best!

  • dis you mean this right.

  • when is dis coming out on xbox 360

  • The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf is coming out for the 360 and PS3 on December 3rd 09...

  • I wouldn't say that LotR is fairy tale, even compared to The Witcher. I've read both and I like both series.

LotR was just written in more... elegant way, focuses on different things. You couldn't write about sex and killing in such way back there, as Sapkowski did it.

Anyway, both series are great, that cannot be denied ;)

  • @KestalDoern Wish i could read Witcher. :( Hope i see at least some good books written in english about it.

  • @KestalDoern

That's funny, because Tolkien thought Lord of the Rings was a fairytail.

I dunno, the whole genre of "fantasy" seems kind of silly to me. When it tries too hard to relate to the real world- I.E. Dragon Age, Peter Jackson's films, they almost become laughable.

I think Lord of the Rings worked as an elaborate, serious work of literature precisely because it didn't try to relate too hard to the real world- it allowed us to make our own connections. Escapism doing what it does.

  • @EatMyPwn Peter Jackson's films were laughable? they were pretty faithful to the books. and it seems like you liked the books. also, LOTR was very much a metaphor for JRR tolkien's own ventures into WWI and his theology on salvation and redemption.

  • @KestalDoern (cont.) I do however find that Science Fiction works when drawing parallels to the real world- and I think that has something to do with the compelling nature behind the concept of the "future being used to examine the present". Not that science fiction escapism doesn't work either, ala Star Wars.

  • @EatMyPwn Fantasy can also be "alternate world used to examine this one." Where is the difference? It may be simply due to your personal tastes, maybe you find the whole idea of orcs and elves entirely silly (LOTR elves aren't santa's elves, mind you, they're modelled after the norse concept and they serve as a counterpoint to humans who live short mortal lives, showing that immortality may not be all that it's cracked up to be). What about Game of Thrones? That's entirely real-world.

  • @F0reseer I love Lord of the Rings. I read the novels in the fourth grade. Not my point.

Just sayin', Tolkien himself called his works fairytails. "Escpaism for adults" I think was the term he used (or perhaps it was a patron of his books? Maybe written in one of the forwards?). My point is just that to me, when the fantasy genre takes itself seriously outside of its relative context (ala The Witcher, Game of Thrones), I find the story less compelling. Elven racism just isn't that interesting

  • @F0reseer (cont.) to me. In science-fiction I find alien racism works. In speculative fiction I find prejudices that don't exist today work (ala Children of Men). But to me, when "fantasy" tries too hard to juggle maintaining an interesting fantasy work like Lord of the Rings (such as The Witcher or Dragon Age or Game of Thrones) while simultaneously giving me a heaping spoonful of "disturbing, realistic, real-world parallels" they just stop being interesting.

  • @F0reseer (cont.) I find this to be especially true for series like Dragon Age and The Witcher. I'm no giant proponent of the Christian ideal of eternal good vs. evils, but in a narrative it seems that if an author doesn't have a point to make or refute- on eternal evil within the context of his story and his personal ethics, a story seems to loose focus. Attempt to justify evils- sure. Give Darth Vader and The Kingslayer and whoever depth- but don't let us forget who the antagonist is

  • @F0reseer (cont.) in an attempt to add unnecessary depth.

Could Elven racism work? Sure. But if you have something to say about the idea of racism- take a crack at it. Center the plot around freeing the oppressed, second-class citizens. This I think may be a problem not just with fantasy narrative, but video game narrative. Non-linearity is fantastic, but developers need to understand the idea of narrative focus. And dynamic characters. And the fact that they're working in their own fucking

  • @F0reseer medium, and not film. etc. etc.

But now I'm just being grumpy about the video game industry not getting its shit together :p

  • Nice Game . I cant wait to get it and kill that dam , dog looking monster

  • When I first saw previews for this game it looked like an average generic fantasy rpg, but its getting rave reviews and I can't wait to get a copy.

  • I want to play this. I've read the book. It's very interesting

  • 1:44 is he fighting Altire???

  • not for awile... and i can most definitali c miself wearing that pendant...

  • When did it come out?

  • Book was excellent! Best fantasy I've ever read...Nothing about good and evil and saving the world like in the most of fucking commercial fantasz fairz tales...Sapkowski is genius...But movie...bullshit...if u have no money, it's not possible to make good movie in fantasy genre...

  • Or you can even watch the movie , first was the book , then came the movie and now the GAME !!! Great !

  • Better read book "Wiedźmin" (in english - "The Withcer", by Andrzej Sapkowski. This game is based on this book, and the book is really great. Polecam!

  • ...So when are one of these killer gaming companies going to come out with a serious movie?? :P

  • @ultraplanarian who knows maybe never.

yes im your ghost from the past muahahaha
