And I see a webpage 'fishingnotes' that gives some info about the species in there.
I have done my share of snagging (and still do).
The reason I use Gamakatsu octopus circle hooks, instead of J-hooks, is to lower the snagging. The tip of the circle hook is turned in ... and in waters with brush, I push my bait down to just cover the hook tip. Then if it goes by a branch or log, maybe it will just swim or bounce instead of stick in.
@adamitshelanu love the vid i love them they are my fave fish to catch and eat with that being said i got some crappie nibbles i know they are not Berkly but i haven't had any luck with mine yet id like to see you do a video with them again and keep hooking them crappie's
@FishingWithJay OK I reread your previous comment ... you did say that you weren't using Berkeley brand ... and that must be so, because the Gulp (Berkeley) Crappie Nibble have a really strong odor. :^)
I'll get and use dome soon.
The reason I don't have any right now is because they became so stinky after a year ... I had to throw them away.
@adamitshelanu cool man yes the ones i have do not smell ive tried them in the lake but not in a creek yet maybe ill try them today since the weather will be nice thanks steve and i love watching video and learning new things about crappie fishing i tell there is just unlimited ways to catch them and they are fun to catch
@jameshdfliSBDHVbshdv I GOOGLE'd it: looks like a nice lake ... a greenway all around the perimeter (I don't mind hiking a mile for a good fishing spot).
This is Winter and Winston-Salem is probably colder than here in Raleigh.
Be sure to take nightcrawlers! I caught 9 catfish today on nightcrawlers. I guess most people would recommend something like a small maribou jig for crappies, especially at this time of year.
Remember this: I hardly know anything about fishing.
@jameshdfliSBDHVbshdv I fish almost exclusively with Gamakatsu Octopus Circle hooks ... size #8, #6, #4, #2 and #1. I choose the size according to the size of the fish I think will be caught.
If unsure, a smaller hook, rather than a larger hook, is recommended.
As RodsInTheDirt has pointed out, you're more likely to rip out a larger hook than a smaller one, if the fish really fights.
It's easy to tell. If it were I, I would have also fished with nightcrawlers. Than if you don't get anything, it is confirmed "proof" that one of two things is likely to the reason.
1. It's Winter and all the bream are burrowed into the mud ... (like around where I am)
or
2. It's not Winter and the spot is overrun with bass and the bream are hiding out.
@emmax90 i say no cause i went fishing with it didnt catch one till i took my drag all the way down and threw some crappie nibles out in the water then i set it down and 7 pound blue glue took it way into the middle of the pond then turned my drag up then i ate him and my others for supper but surprised it was a pumkinseed perch
@adamitshelanu Oh woosh Sounds Like it words pretty good :D cause i just bought some for 3.16$ and i was like why is this container so small but so expensive? So i bought it cause i thought it had to work really good :0
@MrOmgMiko Yes indeed. Others have suggested ... and I do too ... that when you get out there, take 6 or 8 out of the container to "dry" for a bit. Then when you "stick" them on the hook, they will stay on better...not great, but better.
@MrOmgMiko Sort of both ... you'll see. :^) You have to press the nibble on ... and that may influence what kind of hook you use. Try it out just with a hook.
this video is more enjoyable than educational, but definitely a lil of both. what joy to sit back and watch after dinner, when im too lazy to go out myself. almost just as fun
i think maybe if u used like a slightly skinner slip bobber that it would help u, i used to use bobbers similar to urs, and also the red and white bubble lookin kind but i got these thill slip bobbers and i seem to get more hookups, but the thills dont hold much weight sadly, but it didnt look as if u had too much weight on, but wen i need weight i use pear shaped stryofoam ones,
I've used Crappie Nibbles for years, and they do work really well. The state where I live does not allow live minnows for bait, so most of my crappie fishing is with jigs. You can add a little water to soften them up, and use a syringe with no needle to inject them into tube jigs.
If using on solid body jigs, nibbles tend to fly off the hook easily, so take some out of the jar before you use them and they toughen up and stay on better. Leaving the lid off the jar for a trip or two works too.
@kobun37 youre really good, can i ask some questions? do you ever catch carp? and where can you get the crappie nibbles? also you should make a video about you catching bass or carp or trout? Keep main em
you should try minnows, maggots, wax worms, meal worms, night crawler, and something from dicks sporting goods its like a mini crappie kit with everything just ask the people who work there if theres anything like a small kit for panfish they might have it
@OutdoorsIsFun There is another reason to stop the camera. These inexpensive cameras are "unreliable." By that I mean that occasionally they freeze for no apparent reason and require battery removal to reset the CPU in the camera. Freeze ups invariably mean the video recording in progress is corrupted.
When I get a segment of "the story" that is likely to make it to the final vid, I like to stop the camera to "lock in" the clip as good.
I looked on Google Maps: that's a very nice lake!
And I see a webpage 'fishingnotes' that gives some info about the species in there.

@bybuttscppickel Depends. I don't know where you are.
In Texas: sure thing ... those Crappie Nibbles will work great.
Pennsylvania: probably not, the fish have burrowed into the muddy bottom for the rest of the Winter. :^)

How long does it take to catch a fish using crappie nibbles On Average?
MrOmgMiko 6 months ago
@MrOmgMiko Depends on whether they are there. If there are crappies in the vicinity, they go for it right away.
Same for bream, like bluegills and green sunfish. They hit the crappie nibbles immediately.

@kobun37 Your first suggestion about injecting the tubes sounds interesting. I'll keep that in mind for the Spring. Definitely.

chinglengvang 1 year ago
@chinglengvang I can tell you my experience with some of that list ...
** meal worm: semi-dry and fish not too interested, live worms might be better
** minnows: too much trouble, I am at my limit of equipment to carry to fishing and can't carry a cooler for the minnows, everyone in NC like minnows
** plastic minnows: don't work
** wax worms: I saw some wax gulp nightcrawlers which I'd like to try
** nightcrawlers are my standard bait and are superior for all bream and sun fish
adamitshelanu 1 year ago
@adamitshelanu haha yeah mealworms are too dry haha

@fl4v0rfu11 Day before yesterday when I was in Dick's, I bought two jigs mighty similar (99-cents each). So that is on my mind.

Did u restart the camera in this vid?
OutdoorsIsFun 1 year ago
@OutdoorsIsFun Ah yes, but I'll anticipate what you curious about.
The total video was edited from five captures of 14min25sec, 5min56sec, 9min51sec, 13min34sec and 9min59sec.
If the scene being viewed had had a high percentage of motion detail, two of those segments would have fallen into video stutter at 10.5 minutes.
None of these segments did that because essentially the only motion in the frame was me, the fish and the bobber splashes.
adamitshelanu 1 year ago
@OutdoorsIsFun There is another reason to stop the camera. These inexpensive cameras are "unreliable."
