The question for gaming is not really upload or download speed. It's latency. FiOS is better than Xfinity in that department. Here's why:

Xfinity: Digital signal comes from your PC and is converted to an analogue signal in your cable modem. It is then converted back to digital once it hits the server. This is reversed for return signal.

FiOS: Digital signal comes from your PC and stays digital.

I have used both and IMHO even though I use Comcast now, FiOS wins.

I have FIOS and it is awesome. Never goes down and never loses speed. I have the lowest speed which is 15mbs down and 5mbs up and thats sufficient enough for me.
