  • If you think this is animal cruelty, just look at the various Japanese game shows and watch what they do to humans... especially the No Laughing ones...

  • I mean that in the nicest of ways, of course.

  • Cat humiliation? No way it's innocent fun.

  • lol

  • do you think before you comment? xD;

  • Let me bestow you my knowledge:

    1) January - Beginning of the year cat, first of January (Oshougatsu)

    2) February - Snowman cat, in celebration of snow (Yukidaruma)

    3) March - Girl's Day cat posing as one of the dolls, 3rd of March, a festival in order to ensure beautiful growth of young girls (Hinamatsuri)

    4) April - Entering elementary school cat, as young kids enter the school at that month (Nyuuenshiki)

  • 5) May - Dressed in carp's banner cat (Koinobori), Children's Day or Boy's Day (Kodomo no hi), when the vigor and strength of growing boys is celebrated.

    6) June - Rainy season cat (Baiu), dressed in a raincoat

    7) July - Swimming in the sea cat (Kaisuiyoku), taking a swim during summer on the beach

    8) August - Summer festival cat (Natsumatsuri), wearing a summer kimono (yukata) in celebration of summer

  • 9) September - Watching the moon cat (Otsukimi), dressed in a bunny due to belief of a bunny living on the moon, a moon rabit.

    10) October - Halloween cat (HAROUIN), taken from western culture.

    11) November - Reading in autumn cat (Dokusho no aki), time to relax and read books in the late autumn)

    12) Christmas cat (KURISUMASU), accepted into Japanese culture through Christianity.

As you can see, there's nothing weird about this :)

  • Nothing weird, but something adorable =3 lol

  • 1 is a lion, not a dragon, if I recall correctly... New Year's is on the Western calendar, but New Year's is a Big Deal in Japan. 3 is girl's day.

4 is start of school (the song is "when I'm in first grade"); Japanese school year starts in April.

9 is moon-watching (traditional for September); instead of a Man in the Moon, Japan has the Rabbit pounding mochi.

10 is Halloween, not Harry Potter.

Many of the songs are traditional children's songs appropriate for the holiday/theme.

  • this reminds me of when we put a father christmas outfit on our cat.. he couldnt walk, so he lay down immediately like 'i am defeated =TwT= you win'

  • lol harry potter

  • Snow Man Cat (2) and Easter Bunny Cat (9) are my favorites! Harry Potter Cat (10) ate a bubble, yuck!

  • The is no bizarrer place than Japan in the whole world, that's for sure.

  • The Rabbit Pajamas at 2:00 take the cake.

  • Wow. These are some of the cutest cat costumes I've seen. The snowman one rules, especially w/ the cat's "I don't wanna be here" look.

  • My guess would be this is a video of a photoshoot for a cat-themed calendar, hence the 12 sections.

1 is most likely new years. Japan uses the western calendar but that's a Chinese dragon

5 shows carp streamers which are for Childrens Day on May the 5th (look up "Koinobori" on Wikipedia

10 and 12 are obviously Halloween and Christmas which have been borrowed from western culture.

I'll let someone else figure out what the rest of them are :)

  • @onilum

    2: don't know

3 is the Hinamatsuri or doll festival meant especially for girls.

4 is hanami, the cherry blossom festival where people watch flowers

    6: don't know

7: is Ocean Day in the 3rd monday of August

    8 and 9: ??????

11: i think Culture Day (bunka no hi)

  • @onilum january is actually a shishimai, which is a lion. i believe it is borrowed from china.

february is just a snowman. march is girl's day, which is similar to children's day. but children's day is for boys. girl's day is to wish girls to get married sooner. april is the school entrance ceremony, because japanese school years start in april. june is rainy weather, july is playing at the beach, august is summer festivals, september is the moon festival, november is "autumn of reading."

  • @falalaxfearless Thanks for the additions and correction. :)
