Saw these guys on a late night show in the 90s and could never find an lp or anything for years and then forgot about them, just remembered them and that everything's on Youtube and here they are. Happy days!
Penetration should have been one of the biggest bands of the Punk Era but unfortunately they were overshadowed by far inferior bands. Moving Targets was one of the great albums of the late seventies. And Pauline was FIT !!!!!
@Dillboy Some of us knew very well what punk was/is. Penetration were as little as 50p to get in to see at times. Then it went up to 65p, that's when you knew they were getting successful! That was at the Marquee btw.(not the clip, the 50p & 65p). It was fun watching those Genesis fans slowly become punks from one gig to another back then, many of them only got as far as a Stranglers T-shirt instead of the Genesis one though ROFL
Saw you guys at Wickerman 2009, and it was actually brilliant. My friend came away thinking you were a new band!!! A brilliant sound, and a fuckin pleasure to hear yous live.
@horselesspaul Here here, Ultravox were at their peak musically then. The train ride to Reading was murder though! Jon Foxx leaving was a total disaster.
Greatest eye make up ever. What a beautiful face. Ok, i admit it, i had a painful crush on her. And the way she says "Punk" at the end...soooo sexy! Wish they would play the States!!!
Woolwich Poly, 1978(?) - Penetration, Buzzcocks - talk about spoiled for the night. Little did I know, my future husband was in the crowd!! Oh, the memories ...!
Loved the three years '77,'78, '79...all the best gigs I ever went to. And as you said I didn't realise how spoilt I was then...I was only 14 years old in '77.
Actually you're right: was a great time to be a teenager! The ol' man thinks The Slits were supporting The Adverts - but they mighta been on the same bill???
Loved the Tramshed, Woolwich too. Sploogenessabounds spring to mind. (Think we liked it cos we could get a late drink :D )
Wow, saw this on NZ TV around the time, never thought I'd see it again, so thanx for that! I always thought this band & song embodied the spirit of punk do-it-yourself.
Ah, The 1978 Reading festival.Bought the t-shirt, drank the lager, watched the fights and occasionally listened to the music :)Penetration, Patti Smith, The Jam, Spirit. Seems like quite a few people were at that particular festival. Poor old John Peel tried hard didn't he! UK at that time was such a strange place. Disco existed side by side with punk. Foreigner and Status Quo were well received at that Festival too. Albion Folk Band and Morris Dancers too? You bet.
I shot pictures of them on their tour of the states back in 1978 that can be seen on the Penetration website. One of the better bands of the time. And yes, she is still amazing today.
Take advantage of todays deal and get 25 $ free money Got to: goo.gl\XpPC0 Thumbs up if you like to gamble
