  • I'd forgotten how beautiful this record it. Brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for posting it.

  • Gets me right there!!

  • Super song, super photos .Thanh you for this master piece

  • This is so profound, only a musical genius like CTW could put this together, it's a f**king travesty that it has so few viewings.

The video compliments the song very well, so well done ctwfan :o)

  • This is a complex song made simple.

Such a delightful musician. One day, someone will claim this as their own work and ruin it.

From the era when music meant more than just money. Glad I lived through it.

  • this is my granddads favorite song, he used to play it all the time as i was growing up...he's on his way out so i'm gonna play this at his funeral :$

  • Wars, financial crises, drugs, alcoholism, suicides...all melt away when listening to this simple but brilliant song. There are things that test our happiness, but they are not as powerful as the things that sustain it.

  • This song makes me cry almost every time I hear it.

  • Genius, is a very much over used word to write in such a manner in so moving and and briliant way borders on the genius.

  • @eddgregg I think possibly the greatest wordsmith we have ever given the music world.Definitely on a par with Cohen and Dylan and sorry Paul and John you don't make this grade as much as i love you

  • @XxcalvindudexX I wonder what kind of person you are to produce such a vile post.

  • @MOGGS1942 My account got hacked a week ago and I am currently un-aware of any posts that may have been posted on videos. I deeply appologise, but it wasn't me who posted that comment.

  • @XxcalvindudexX In that case, kindly accept my regrets for my post.

  • This song reminds me of my childhood, and always will!

  • Can you imagine an artist whose lyrics reference Browning, Keats and Wordsworth getting signed up nowadays? Neither can I

  • For anyone who has had their heartbroken and wondered what if...there is this song from an underrated genius, Clifford T Ward.

Katie, when I hear this I think of you

  • I love this wonderful song and the singing and production, perfect. You couldn't imagine how it could be improved at all. Thanks for posting!

  • Pardon my French but 6 dislikes?, well you six should just fuck right off!, a beautiful and heartbreaking song 10/10

  • he reminds me of eric eckhart

  • Hey CTW fans, I’ve uploaded the album version of ‘Watchin’ The TV News’ (from 'Both Of Us') on YouTube. Go to /watch?v=8bCW6n5AIGU

  • This song breaks my heart every time I hear it, every word mirrors my life

  • Anyone who gets "Worcestershire" into a song gets my vote. Sublime. RIP CTW.

  • Does anyone know the chords to this? Normally you can find any chords in the world on the internet, but not this song. It really is torture.

  • LOVELY

  • This is Her Majesty The Queen's song apparently.... haha

  • These beautiful songs of his still make me cry, as they did all those years ago. RIP. So sad he died so young, can you just imagine what he would be doing now, if he was still alive??

  • stunning, thank you so much for posting

  • Still love the man and his music.I have all his albums..vinyl by the way. Just miss him so much

  • the B' side of Gaye, back in '73, used to play this a lot at the time, loved it then, and as iv'e got older like a fine wine it just seems to get better and better, memories are great, and it's a bonus when beautiful songs like this jog them.

  • ITS SO, SO SAD THAT THIS BEAUTIFUL PERSON DIED SO YOUNG......RIP .CLIFFORD... I MISS YOU.....

  • To add to my earlier comment, YouTube is one of the only places on the planet where you can wallow in the wonderful talent of C T W. Although I still have a vinyl album of Home Thoughts, kept safe and scratch free !! I am 53 now, but his music is still as fresh as it was when first released, to me and many others !

  • When i was 16, in 1973, i met a girl on holiday, called Susan Poulter, from Bromsgrove. Clifford T Ward used to be her teacher. Small world !

  • Beautiful what more can you say.

  • Just read about a guy who does Hospital Radio at Chapel Allerton in Leeds who met and became friends with CTW and was with him shortly before he died - he vowed to play CTW music on his show and at 7:30 pm once a week plays an album track in his memory and to ensure a part of the public will hear the work of this genius. - Paul in Isle of Man

  • he lived in worcestershire which is near to where i live, and he died in a local cottage hospital, i'm too young to remember him though, love this song

  • My God, this is so truly poetic, and so deeply painful at the same time

  • I remember Clifford was part of a clutch of great English singer-songwriters of the early seventies like Gilbert O'Sullivan and Colin Blunstone.

  • stunning,beauiful,so sadly missed,

  • Clifford T Ward taught my Dad English when he was @ North Bromsgrove High school in 1971/1972 . My old mans told me a few tails about Clifford, and how he was idolised @ school.

  • never got the recognition he deserved

  • Must be the only song in the english language to contain the word "Worcestorshire" in it !!!

  • it took a great man sir terry to tell me how good this is . it is so beautiful.

  • Thanks fan for the sharing of this tune and images. Great quality and such an emotional song.

Such emotion has been clearly felt by almost all comments that are added here, if you hadn't heard how sad the song is, and how tastefully it's presented, a spin through of the comments below will surely paint the picture. Very grateful for your posting, fan

  • That brought me back!! Tanx for postin' :-)

  • He was an amazing lyricist and musician. i was so sad when i heard he had died, must be at least ten years ago now. He was a friends dad and he had MS :( some people are too good for this earth

  • This is the most beautiful song in the world. It was played at my Nanna's funeral and every time I listen to it, I burst into tears.

I miss my Nanna so much and I would do anything to have her with me right now. I remember the first time I heard this when I was in the church that day nearly 5 years ago, and I remember how I cried. I just sat there and sobbed.

I love you so much Nanna- I'll see you soon

    xxx

  • @jaydeebaybee94 yes there is something about his music that touches us deeply. im 50 and have told my kids to play home thoughts from abroad at my funeral. they are not really sad songs. they are just so beautifull that they seem a perfect way to leave this world and leave a lasting memory of the person that is leaaving

  • @MrFennort A beautiful comment ...

  • This is just sublime. What else is there to say? Time for a musical based on Cliffords wonderful songs.

  • i love love n the songs that make it a reality..this is one

  • Yet another piece of genius from one of the best writers ever....

  • I READ SOMEWHERE THAT THIS WAS VOTED NUMBER 4 IN THE LIST OF ALL TIME BEST SONGS

  • Yes that poll was voted by Radio 2 listeners

  • @ctwfan that explains it.

  • @ctwfan

I listen to Chinese Radio 2 too!

  • @dustbuster1949 I believe it was my mute and deaf grandmother who compiled that list

  • Heartbreaking, beautifiul, and I agree with 0427perry, Rundgren breaks hearts with words

  • This is perfect. I miss you.

  • he,s up there with todd rundgren with this song

  • I can hear at least three of his other songs wrapped up in this one.

  • If i were to die tomorrow I would want this played at my funeral - AND SO DO I!!!!!

  • I am actually nearly reduced to tears listening to this while the girl I love is three and a half thousand miles away. I hope she's okay.

    Some song.

  • @EddyC15 I bet she loves and misses you too...

  • @princessdamnation I hope she knows I love her. She'll be back to me some day.

  • @EddyC15 She does and she will. Who could not come back to a guy who dedicates this good a song to her... She'd be a fool not to.

  • I first heard this song 10 years ago. The words make it the most beautiful love song ever written. When he died, they put a memorial site online for him.. it may still be there. I let his family know how I felt about this song. It's such a shame that he wasn't popular in the USA. People today, are still hearing his name for the first time. I hope his music lives on forever.

  • Class

  • I seem to remember this being the B side to Gaye, I always played this , I found it too difficult to resist, something so nostalgic about the tune and lyrics, its beautiful.

  • I love this song, it's amazing.

  • well i've just been sent this......i'm in hospital btw i've been in since November following a car crash in which in which i nearly died. But the love of my life always stood by me to make me laugh and pull me through some really dark times.....but i feel very very lucky

  • Captures that " away from home" feeling more succintly than any other love song. We need an Irish version!

  • @philipwatson Why? Although I always recognized this as a quintessential English song I also always totally identified with it, I suppose because really the home he sings about is the place where the loved one is, and he makes it so homely, always loved the line "Does the cistern still leak, or have you found a man to mend it" Just shows, you can have Browning, Keats,Wordsworth,

television and cisterns happily in the same breath. Maybe that's the magic.

  • 2 words

    Simply Awesome!!

  • brilliant talent, wonderful writer and great voice.

  • a beautiful song from a great writer/singer,sadly missed but not forgotten

  • lovely,lovely,song from happier times.

  • munichlady why close you account

  • The curse of MS. What a truly gifted man!

  • A star when on earth and now a star in heaven singing to the angels who will all love his songs as we all did.!and still do!!

  • Over the years I have loved this record but felt a bit sad I never had a girl leave me....so I could now listen to the wonderfull words and feel sad....now, how sad is that!!!! I almost wish I new how robert browning must have felt. lol

  • This one is an absolute tearjerker, he really is an amazing guy and a great artist and his songs really remind me of my youger days.xxxx

  • Clifford was in his fifties when he died. This song is quintessentially beautiful.

    We miss you Cifford.

    We really do.

  • I think God always takes the precious Souls

He loves the most Home as soon as He

can. Clifford was simply too gentle for this Planet.

I miss him also. I really do.

  • I hope that when it is my turn to "leave" I can be remembered for something as precious as Clifford's poetry.

  • Yes, that is it. It wasn´t just music, it was the

most perfect poetry PUT to music. His songs delve into our very souls, they are absolutely impossible to forget once they have been heard.

One thing we all have in common is that we all will leave this little planet, BUT, one thing I am sure of is that we will all be united in the music of the Universe. I cant wait to hear what he has been composing since he passed over.

  • i'm brazilian. since my youth, i think that no other singer (maybe caruso: ah, la paterna mano - macbeth... riposa o mamma - il trovatore... fenesta vascia - bellini) transmitted such feeling of tenderness. who was or who is clifford? sort of an angel among us? clifford, we miss you. we really do.

  • Beautiful, honest

    Simply awesome.....

  • coachto....bravo...couldn't have putit better my self...the words are awsome...I know how Robert Browning must have felt!!!

  • Come on,you know this was from me to you....

  • I heard this driving to work one morning and had to find somewhere to stop and just take it all in. To be truthful this is not what I would listen to but it is such a complete song and you can feel the sadness and relate it to something in your life. CLASSIC song with a singer sadly missed

  • not at all

  • Emotion without the histrionics , music which will only appeal to people with a heart and a mind. I've been trying to convince all and sundry of this man's colossaL songwriting talents for decades ...... hope somewhere, somehow CTW can see how much his work is appreciated.

  • I have a heart and a mind and have long appreciated (loved I mean, but I am a Brit, so can't admit that I have feel emotion) CTW.

  • I agree with everything you say ! I have been a fan of his for years and I could never understand why he was not appreciated as much as should !!. This was real talent - probably one of the best in popular music. His songs hit you right in the heart- and evokes such beautiful emotions !!
