I think it was 1987 Monsters of rock tour Van Halen Scorpions Chetta Roadmaster Dokken there were 2 others been a long time ago and i was so wasted back then .. not into the wasted part anymore im 49 years of age but if im asked am i still a rocker may reply is hell yes
1986 Biloxi Mississippi opened for Judas Priest, intro and rocked thier (and ours too) asses off. Seen them again in Hollywood Florida later in '86 at the Sportatorium. Seen them in '88 at the Monsters of Rock at the Orange Bowl and they jammed in the rain. While it was raining they played, when they stopped the rain stopped. It was like God himself was there turning on the sprinklers with the music. Dokken, Scorps, Metallica, Van Headache, and Billy Squire all on one ticket.
@MasterWitchDoctor i saw dokken on the monsters of rock tour up here south of boston where the Patriots play, Foxboro Stadium, but the line up was Metallica opened, then Dokken, then Scorpions and then Van Halen...the 5th band wasn't allowed by town selectman who said the conert was too long as it was, but the 5th band up here wasn't Squier, it was Kingdom Come....
Always loved this song, Lynch really goes off. Someone should request I cover this :O, support young guitarists like me if you want this generation of music too change..
vdes24, at 49 and having had the pleasure to live in the 80's and really party to the music, you can see why some of us just can't find todays music fullfilling in any way.
i just discovered dokken through george lynch, damm the 80s was a great era, im 14 and i cant believe people listen to all the mainstream audiotuned crap that exists at the moment, this is real music
I will be forever hardrock Dokken up the best that exists in the world of music the rest is shit forever 80s megadeth, anthrax Dokken, lizzy borden some examples
If there's one thing my parents did right...it was listening to this kind of music and passin' it on to me. 25 years later here I am still playin' what I grew up on. <3
@SetTheWorldAfire1 Good for you kid, glad you are listening to something cool like this. It was great hearing this back in 1985 for the first time. Check out the song Into The Fire, that is my favorite from them.
When I was a fledgling metal head in 86 at the ripe old age of 12 this was the second tape i ever bought right behind motleys theater of pain and right before Ozzie ultimate sin.
Such a great rock band, but still very unrecognized throughout the world now a days, god dam shame:(saw them live in lewiston couple months ago,KICKED ASS!!!!!!
I'm a new era Dokken Fan, because I'm 16 etc... blah blah... I listened first to the last version of this song, in the 2010 recorded 'Greatest Hits' ... now, I'm listening to the original one... WHAT THE HELL! DOKKEN IS GOD D:! ...
i jus get totaly crazy when i hear this song!!!!! what a fucken awesome tune!!! Dons voice G`s guitar riffsss maaaan!!! and the atmosphere the sound brings is out of this world!
May I then recommend a healthy dose of Dokken, Cinderella, LA Guns, Tesla, just to name a few....not to forget early def leppard with steve clark, before his death..like high n dry, pyromania, etc......enjoy...there's plenty of good old stuff available.
This is the shit in the 80s! This is still the shit in 2011! I can't wait 'til I get this studio built cuz I am strapping my guitar on and ripping this shit on 11! Fuck most of todays music, it simply lacks!
to put things in perspective, I bought this album on vinyl when it first came out..still my favorite and im 48 Canadian. Imagine what else I have listened to :> stay tuned if your interested
@gochipsman really? it was the best produced, but i agree probably too little too late. still, dokken not being more popular was definitely an anomaly to me.
@stimpychuck Oh, so I'm the faggot? What about those fifteen year old depressed wrist cutters in the girls jeans then? I never once said I liked that scene. In fact I despise it!
Hey everybody, there's a poll going on right now at guitar world. com for the best guitar album of 1984. We're fighting to keep Dokken's Tooth and Nail in the Top 5. Please come and vote to keep them up where they belong!! You can vote as many times as you can stand it. Dream Warriors unite!
Haven't forgotten about Motley or Ratt...they just like most 80s metal bands kick ass. You pretty much get the idea...couldn't fit every one in my post before. Any of those bands is better than anything from the past 16 years, be it alternative or 'nu metal'. Long live long hair on guys, tight jeans, you name it. I hope all that comes back sometime, even if in a modern way.
Dokken, Dio, Queensryche, Maiden and Priest are the REAL DEAL when it comes to good metal! I know first hand how some teens and 20 somethings feel about some of today's music. Just when I thought being a '90s teen was hard..lol! I had even back then to endure Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Tool, Rancid, Bush. If I may say one more thing, seems like people born before the late '70s got the good music, whereas those born after 1980 have retarded tastes in music...what gives??!
Miss the days of smoking & drinking, hanging out, being a degnerate misfit, not giving a fuck..Those were the days........Being a teen in the 80's rocked.
Under Lock and Key and Tooth and Nail are and will remain 2 of the most awesome and influencial albums of my life....nothing out there today even comes close to topping these 2 albums...
Dokken still blows me away !!!! I so wish there were bands out there today with this much power , style, searing vocals and screaming guitar solos ..but there just isn't ...so I've found myself recently going back for the attack ...;)
@MarkusP9 amen, fellow hair brother !! great metal makes you want to go out & find a hot chick & a cool beer & party into the night -- like many a middle-ager(i'm 48 now...lol), I sorely miss those days, and realize that real music is a dead art form -- all the same, there is still utube, and the faithful army of "Torchbearers" that will NEVER compromise our standards of what rocks ! "KEEP ON ROCKIN' WITH DOKKEN !!!!"
@SetTheWorldAfire1 Hey man, I completely understand, Fifteen as well. I'll admit there is a couple of modern bands I'll give credit to, BUT NEVER SAID I LISTENED TO THEM. They just don't play with the same burning spirit. Really wish I were born in the late 50's to live along side jefferson airplane, live the 70's all the new wave bands and led zep, and the 80's with dio and iron maiden. These guys too! Queensrych as well. What have we become these days? We have just lost the fiery passion!
@GLADIATUS96 Music is a dimension of life. You have the best of the age available at your fingertips. Get the best of it and take and make the other dimensions of your life. Wish for what you can get and not for will never be. There is greater joy in that.
@SetTheWorldAfire1 What are you even talking about? You have the greatest archive of the greatest music of all time at your fingertips. You don't even have to wait for it to come out. It is all here! At 15, it time to build your library and carry it with you in the future. I've waited 40 years for this! Don't let others play the envy game in your mind. Don't play envy play get it while you can, don't steal but capitalize on life's opportunities.
Me and my best friend back in high school used to jam this in my basement.(back in 88') One of the first songs we could play from start to finish almost lol! Except for that lead! hah
I was in high school when all this came out what a great time to to be a teen...... The 80s rock rules.....I wish I could go back ,no bills, no job just having fun!
What else to say about songs like this, times like those ? You guys said it all.... sigh... if time is cyclical, can't hardly wait till it's 70's & 80's again !
one of the first heavy bands I've heard. One band i grew up with and felt in love with their help. One of the songs that will never leave from my heart and soul. One of the things i can say for it is that THE LOVE HAS NEVER GONE!! THANKS DON &GEORGE.......
used to jam to this in my international scout.audiovox stereo cassette, pioneer 6x9's and pioneer 6 inch directionals and a 14 band equalizer/amp.lock and key was pretty good album.
@weitzel427 brother, talk about hitting the nail on the head. Nickleback has the sound, some of the kids today are capapble I guess, but the sound from back in the day would just blow you away...at least we can say we were there, right?
80 music sound so amazing!

one of the first heavy bands I've heard. One band i grew up with and felt in love with their help. One of the songs that will never leave from my heart and soul. One of the things i can say for it is that THE LOVE HAS NEVER GONE!! THANKS DON &GEORGE.......

Image that saw Dokken open up for Loverboy in Daytona Beach 1986. They were both amazing. But Dokken stole the show.

@weitzel427 brother, talk about hitting the nail on the head. Nickleback has the sound, some of the kids today are capapble I guess, but the sound from back in the day would just blow you away...at least we can say we were there, right?
