Just because you join the military dosen't mean you'll lose her/she'll lose you. And you can go into the military and not be sent overseas. My dad and my uncle are in the Air Force, and they only have to go overseas once a year, and that's only for 2 weeks, give or take. Now if you join the Army, Marines, or Navy(?), then you'll be sent overseas for a while. And if you do join, then she should support your decision, not be against it.
