I totally agree with the comment by kcunning. It's a shame that this song was not used in the 'Whip It' film. Personally, I musch prefer this studio version to the live version.

I remember this song in roller derby tv commercials when I was a kid! Then 20 years passed before I heard of the sport again. Is this the roller skating equivalent of short track ice skating?

It's a shame that Drew Barrymore didn't use this fabulous song (Leon deserves a new generation of fans, too) for her film "Whip-it." It would have added to an already great soundtrack.

Specifically, this song was about Joan [Joanie] Weston - the undisbuted "Queen of the Roller Derby", and long time member of the San Francisco Bay Area Bombers.
