Im glad my road ( fairglen ) was put up coz they drive at ridiculous speeds coming back from the station down here, its like, wats the fucking rush???
The whole crossing opposition annoys me. I have four small children who I walk to the school each day (two are in a pushchair) and the cars rarely stop when I need to cross the main road in the village.
It is so dangerous. The only drop kerb at that end of the village is opposite WoodBPine and you usually have to step out between the parked cars to see what's coming. Not easy when you have a tandem pushchair and two children holding either side.
Update: Fairchurch Lane, the lane by Wadhurst Station. Now other people hae been complaining about feral motorists speeding and driving recklessly. I have seed them speeding round bends, by the police dog training field and nearly crashing so fast they are going. I am pleased to say that the road is being monitored by the police and there is a notice now at Wadhurst station, where most of the feral motorists drive too, almost knocking us cyclists and pedestrians down.
@drsquirrel0 - they moaned a while a go 'because it was put in the wrong place' and the whole thing was put back, now they are looking at it again, and it appears they are still arguing over where to put it without 'upsetting business people'. It really is ridiculous. It's one of the first things I noticed about the place that there is no crossing. While they are faffing, people will get hurt. It is mental, too right.
@drsquirrel0 - you can't make this up: but apparently they are complaining that a pedestrian crossing is 'detrimental to business' because it may lose car parking spaces. Profits over safety!
@cyclepod1 some body probably has already pointed it out to them but if somebody parks on the other side of the street they'll be more likely to cross over to their shop on the other side.
reminds me of manhattan

Ridiculous that someone had to die, before the crossing debate gained any higher attention.

I would rather lose parking spaces than kids!

How on earth can people oppose a crossing in a town?! That's mental :/
(it could just be the papers being a bit alarmist though...)

@cyclepod1 You might probably find that all the businesses want it right outside their own shops :p

This was taken on a bank holiday so free from the commuter menace, fortunately.
