  • If it wasnt for this movie score I would of loved it even more, hell I play Danny Elfman score while playing Batman Arkham city which gives it more the 1989 batman vibe that I love

  • And yet he didnt win an oscar..just proves how useless the oscars they are.

  • jack nicholson is without a doubt the best joker got som class n humor..heath ledger was like a bad creepy kid from high school 30 yrs later lol

  • Williams and Zimmer are my favorites. Elfman is about 3rd.

  • I love elfman

  • this guy, Martin O' Donnell (Halo soundtrack) , Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings sndtrk) , John Williams (Star Wars sndtrk) , Hans Zimmerman (Inception Score, Pirates of the Carribean, The Pacific, Modern Warfare 2) , Michael Giannacio (Star Trek) should team up to make the awesomest soundtrack of all time

  • @SirAwesumness Whoa. I didn't know Hans Zimmerman did MW. :O I've always love his stuff, but kudos for that!

  • @urmerm idk about MW1 but i know he did MW2

  • look for more info about hans zimmer. youll find out that a lot of his greatest themes are actually not of his own.

  • @ChrisGuitarbeast still most of the stuff liscensed under his name is real good even if its not original

  • @SirAwesumness i agree.

  • @SirAwesumness

    yep!

    nice Idea!

  • god i love jack nicholsen. damn i love the whole cast in this movie

  • Talented!

  • The truth is, batman came in and scared the crap out of elfman. Thats how he composed the music ;)

  • "What makes them a cultural phenomenon, I haven't a clue."

Maybe it's the awesome music, Danny.

  • DANNY ELFMAN = BATMAN

    BRAD FIEDEL = TERMINATOR

    JOHN WILLIAMS = SUPERMAN

    HANS ZIMMER = INCEPTION

    THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • @DaSupermanOf1990

Brad fiedel should have been called back for t3 and t4. Hes the genius :(

  • @DaSupermanOf1990 What there's not to agree? They did these scores -_-

  • @DaSupermanOf1990

Way to belittle and label their workings. They're much much more than those films.

  • @DaSupermanOf1990 John Williams= Uhh... everything

  • @johnnnyboyz100 Yeah, jaws Indiana joens star was harry potter ET... the list goes on and on the guys a genuis...

    But I still prefer Elfman.

  • @DaSupermanOf1990 Hans Zimmer Inception? Are you fucking kidding me? He is more like GLADIATOR!

  • Danny Elfman has produced some amazing movie scores... Legend

  • He also made the Spiderman theme song for the movie, which in my opinion, is AMAZING!!

perfect composer in a perfect crew...

    perfect movie!

  • His themes for Spiderman and Darkman are also incredible. Even though they share that unique Elfman style, they remain unique to their respective films.

  • I know what makes this movie a cultural phenomenon...it's fucking BATMAN! He's awesome!

  • I'm pretty sure he did the music for fable 2 also right?

  • he wrote the simpsons theme the greatest theme song ever! plus everything else he's ever done

  • By the way...... HE HAS NEVER TAKEN A MUSIC CLASS IN HIS LIFE. HE IS FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE.

  • @guero272727 that is crazy. do you know if he is the one who orchestrates all the music?

  • I've been a musician for 30 years. I went to Berklee College of Music, bla bla bla. All I can say is that Danny Elman is a genius. He is simply unbelievable. All his tunes are catchy, complicated to write, and awesome to say the least. Oingo Boingo was a great band.

    My hat's off to Danny!

  • I've watched some movies only because Danny did the soundtrack LOL

  • Lucky bastard is married to Bridget Fonda. Some guys just have it all. rofl xD

  • @webeffect

Film music doesn't get any more simplistic and formulaic than Hans Zimmer, and that hack has won at least one Academy Award, I believe.

Elfman has never won an AA because the Academy has poor taste.

  • beyond batman? ahaha sounds like batman beyond

  • Nicholson as the Joker is always going to be classic

  • @Christknight1990 two words: Mark Hamill

  • His music is very simplistic and overly formulaic. There's a reason he doesn't have an Oscar.

  • @webeffect Batman was nominated and he should have won an oscar for this score. It is one of the most memorable film scores ever!! He has been nominated for 4 academy awards, more than a majority of composers will ever receive, and is an A list, constantly working hollywood film composer. Some of his music is simple, but many great composers wrote simplistic things. Most film scores are suppose to be simple, they are not trying to reinvent the wheel. Also, he has his own voice!!!

  • Hey have you guys seen that Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are coming out with a box set to commemorate their 25 years of working together. Looks really cool. You can sign up for the newsletter to get more info by going to burtonelfman . com

  • His music is more than a feeling ..Morricone ,Williams and Elfman gods

  • Oh God. Elfman really captured the essence of this score. I don't even think John Williams could've did a better job. I believe that when it comes to movie scores, fate determines which composer ets the job. Specific movies are meant for specific composers. That's my theory.

  • @southoreast

I agree totally. He created one of those few scores in film history (Schindler's List, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, JAWS, Vertigo) that as soon as people see or think about Batman they always remember Elfman's score. That's quite a feat.

  • I always recognize his scores! He frequently uses choir and blaring aggressive brass and strings. He also tends to combine orchestral sounds with digital sounds.

  • ITS PEEEEEERFECT AND NO BODY CANT SAY A THING

  • waltz to the death LOVE IT

  • batman is a fucking god no exceptions

  • If Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard and Danny Elfman were to conjoin and become a mutated thing, that would just be awesome!

  • Somehow I prefer the Danny Elfman approach its brassy clear with dark undertone gothic feel with the organ when it cuts in on the score. The 1980’s seemed to sound better in way in 70mm Dolby stereo when I saw special day run of Batman in 70mm. Elfamn scores just seem to have wondrous mystic darkness and beauty with the tone over the newer Batman scores.

  • I really like Danny Elfman's work. The musicshe has done for The Family Man's ost almost makes me cry. Strangely, I can say it's probably my favorite out of his work

  • "i don't understand what makes Batman popular."

He's the God damned Batman thats why!

  • Batman (1989) was filmed in London?

  • danny elfman is so sexy. even at the age of 57. that man is like nothing i've seen before!

  • This and Edward Scissor hands are, in my opinion, Danny Elfman's best scores. Great music, Danny. Great inspiration of mine. All the best,

    Brian VanGeem

  • with no question or doubt.............

this is the best hero score ever

  • He is my idol

  • Batman theme is awesome.

  • I love little girls

  • jack Nicholson is the best joker

  • @BROKENHOUSEFILMS WRONG SIR AND/OR MADAME!... Jack Nicholson is the best EVERYTHING.

  • I love Danny Elfman. Pee wee's big adventure's music is fuckin off the chain!

  • What's this? What's this?

    There's color everywhere

    What's this?

There's white things in the air

    What's this?

    I can't believe my eyes

    I must be dreaming

Wake up, jack, this isn't fair

What's this? ----> ( I can so hear him singing as Danny speaks)

  • Danny Elfamn= GOD OF MUSIC

  • my favorite part of that score was the destruction of axis chemicals. very powerful.

  • modest guy, on top of being a genius

  • Better than Spider Man theme, this may in fact, be his best ever.

  • Elfman's Batman theme is the iconic Batman theme, I'd use that for every single film of Batman ever made lol

  • Film Scoring, my dream job!!

  • The first time I heard Elfman's Batman theme I felt shivers run through my spine. Now several years later, I have listened to the soundtrack and watched the movie several times over and I still love it just as much. The man's a genius.

  • he was. now, he kind of copy himself (i don't know if give my point). he's music is now 2 conventional

  • I concur. But alot of composers "copy" themselves. might not all be the big things, but subtles like how Elfman sometimes uses his string sections. Even my idol, Jerry Goldsmith, had his "trademarks" in his music.

  • Tim burtons so cute :)

  • Danny Elfman is a musical legend. I think he played the voice of Jack Skeleton ( I think thats right ) from Nightmare before Christmas, or at least I think he did

  • he did the singing voice for jack skeleton. his speaking voice was done by chris sarandon.

  • singing parts only.

  • Skellington

  • @HentaiMan18

He sang for Jack, someone else did the voice. He also wrote all the music for that movie, and pretty much everything else.

Check out Oingo Boingo, he sang for them.

  • @HentaiMan18 Actually he was the sinning voice not the actor, but I'm sure he would have been great as both.

  • @HentaiMan18 oingo boingo ftw

  • @HentaiMan18 He performed Jack's singing voice.

  • @HentaiMan18

You may already know by now but yes he did the singing voice for Jack Skellington in Nightmare Before Christmas. He also voiced Barrel (one of the bad kids who wears a skull mask) in the movie as well. The man is a great omposer and has a pretty great singing voice himself.

  • @balrog13571 oh yeah totally, like in wanted he sang: "the little things"

    Fantastic song and voice

  • @legorocks3

    Yep.

  • @HentaiMan18

He did the singing voice of Jack Skellington.

  • @SweeneyToddObsesser Wow still getting reply to this. Lol, thanks SweeneyToddObsesser.

  • @HentaiMan18

Woops, sorry. I didn't look how long ago you posted that comment. *hits head*

  • @SweeneyToddObsesser No problem. Again thanks.

  • @HentaiMan18 He sang the musical parts.

  • @HentaiMan18 He sang :) He was Jacks singing voice where-as Chris Sarandon did Jacks voice. Danny Elfman was also the "Clown with the tear away face"

  • @HentaiMan18 he did indeed

  • @HentaiMan18 He was Jack Skellington's singing voice. Skellington's speaking voice was Chris Sarandon.

  • @HentaiMan18 he sang jack

  • @HentaiMan18 He actually only did the singing voice, but yeah ur basically right.

  • @HentaiMan18

Danny Elfman sung for Jack. Chris Sarandon acted.

  • @HentaiMan18 he sure did!

  • @HentaiMan18

    he did the singing

Chris Sarandon did the speaking voice

  • My balloons. : (

    Ha ha ha ha

  • I love Elfman's music! Possibly my all time favorite Composer! and Tim Burton! :D those two make a great team!!!

  • I wonder what it would sound like if he was to score his own theme song....

  • @bhead88 What a great thought!

  • If met him i'd fall over dead w/ happiness

Ever notice that all the songs with words that he writes ends up stuck in your head?

(or at least.....it does to mine)

  • oh god if i was aware he was within a mile radius of me im pretty sure i would explode

  • do you think danny elfman hears it in his head and then sits down and thinks about what instruments and notes work best??

  • You can really see how he's progressed listening to this versus his later stuff

  • During the Joker Waltz I couldn't help but hear the Mario underwater theme. :-P

  • He loves little girls.

They make him feel so bad.

  • Danny Elfman is the hidden secret in the music world! His music is amazing and so emotional! I have a Pandora radio station dedicated to him. I just found out the other day that he did the singing voice for Jack Skeleton for Nightmare Before Christmas...man he has talent!

  • This man is a genius!!!! Danny Elfman is definitely one of the best composers alive, I don't care what anyone says. As far as superhero themes, the 2 best of all time are John Williams' Superman and Elfman's Batman IMO.

  • @rawkus1167 Also the Simpsons! =D

  • @rawkus1167 most definitely

  • @rawkus1167 he also did the first 2 spider-mans

  • @rawkus1167 don't forget Elfman's Spiderman (its epic!! :D)

  • Danny - YOU'RE A GENUIS!!

  • I did not like his take on spiderman it was to weird

  • I actually thought that his score for Spider-Man was amazing.

  • there were some parts witch were good, but it realy is very confusing, i was surpriced that his take on Terminator Salvation was pretty okay.

  • What do u mean by confusing?

And his Terminator was okay, definently not his best, it wasn't as memorable as his score to Batman or Spider-Man imo

  • There are to many melodies in Spider-man i like the intro part and the midle part, very good stuff, but the rest not so good.

The Terminator Salvation especially the intro is way more simple so it works

  • This man has made some AMAZING music. Come on, Pee Wee, Beetlejuice, Spiderman, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS! All those movies have themes that fit their characters while being extremely emotional. It's amazing.

While I like all of his work, I think my favorites are- Pee Wee, Spiderman, Batman and Nightmare. Those just stick out to me, especially Spiderman and Batman. The way he made the music portray those two was amazing. He's a god damn genius!

  • what a fucking genius

  • Danny is my favorite composer of all time!!!! His music can be really dark OR really happy. I love his music.

  • So Danny Elfman was influenced by Miller's Dark Knight in his thinking about the first film? That's pretty intriguing.

  • Danny is my #1 favorite film composer, cause when he's not scoring movies,he at his L.A. hometown with wife/actress Bridget Fonda, cause this excellent movie gave him a lot of sucess at the box office in the summer of 89, 5 stars for his interview, btw I own this 20th anniversary film on Blu-Ray.

  • Elfman is awesome... SImple as that.

  • Thanks for uploading this

  • epic win of an upload

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! I'd read something about it before but hadn't been able to find it!

It's even got Steve Bartek being interviewed, this truly is a gem! What a score!
