This guy is an idiot....... I WAS JUST LOOKING at my recommendations and this was in it. This guy could not dog paddle himself out of a fish tank....... Sorry dude, you know it's true.......
walls are made of CONCRETE. You want a new wall? call a cement truck to pour it in between some wooden plates as template mold. (of course after you put some metal bars firmly attached to floor and ceiling) That way you would have a real wall not some weak wall that you might break if you trip over into it when you're drunk. (Mainly it's just a rant about stupid typical house construction out of wood/plywood and gypsum walls. That's weak. Concrete and metal is the thing used in Europe)
Loving your videos, I teach Contractors how to Buy & Sell houses, I am looking to promote my video's. Please review my Video's, any help would be greatly appreciated.
your 4x2 needs to be fixed to the wall as well vertically. every 3rd joist. if the timber bows in a few years it will belly away from the wall. and start all over again. this video was not wort posting. you put in 2 screws lol . com on
Was there crews in the floor or just glue? i used explosive nails to go through the cement floor but glue would be easier as i have to borrow the explosive gun.
This is for everyone who comment bad about thi guy... people this video is for people who dont even know what side of a hammer to use... its simple and people can hopefully follow... you start talking about primer and other things then you start confusing people.. plus if you guys are so called experts then why are you looking this up on youtube... my g/f showed me this in embaressment because she couldnt build a half wall for stairs.... so whose the so called experts now"?
To erikacpht: You will always have some studs above your ceiling that the wall can be attached to. What he is doing is screwing the wall into the studs behind the ceiling as opposed to attaching it to the ceiling itself. Hope that helps you out.
If you dont have a ceiling put blocksb between the Joist 2 ft on center asn start on the side your going to sheetrock from so the seems break oin the middle I kike to lay them flat so I have more to nail to, or in fis case screw to, if its sheetrocked and you dont want to tear it off to put blocks in glue it with const. adhesive , it should be enough, only if its not a bearing wall though, and wall must fit snug,
Tisk tisk, Mr. Expert, you didn't apply a vapor barrier gasket under the sill plates.
The moisture (humidity) from the concrete substrate will rot the wood. If a contractor missed this step, it's not to late. there's a application similar to primer, that will seal the lumber and the material with the equivalent of pressure treated lumber, without the toxic vapor.

I need to attach a stud to the ceiling, but there is no joist above. How do I attach the top stud?

thanks for making construction look so easy. I'm a middle aged mother of four and feel confident in tackling my new wall.
However Im not sure why you need a second wall when there was already a perfectly good one there.Perhaps it's just to demonstrate .

During one of the other videos he talked about using treated lumber on the floor. Is that not enough?
schapman43 2 years ago 2
i think its illegal to use treated timber anywhere inside a building
paulisgrim 2 years ago
@paulisgrim lol who told u that .
vinnykilgannon 1 year ago
@vinnykilgannon because treated timber is toxic, especially if it burns, it has arsenic derivatives in it i think.
