The pyramid is not finished, it was a nation in built up. The triangle above is a christian symbol (Triangle -> three -> holy trinity) as is the all seeing eye of god. That is also why you see it quite frequently, there are a lot of christians on this planet.

Different people belief in different things and they choose symbols to signify their beliefs. The symbols they choose are the ones that are closest to them and their lives.
