wonder what their broadcasts were for dec '09 to feb '10.... i wasn't in maryland so.. in VA it was murder.. thus, i know it must've been hell in MD.
@AgentRaven77 I can tell you that getting to go home from Loyola due to bad weather was a treat as Loyola never wanted to close during bad weather when I worked there in 98'. They would wait to see if Hopkins closed before they closed first. I remember being stuck there during a raging tropical storm that was dumping tons of rain on Baltimore and not being able to leave 4 hours after the storm started.

@bmorecity20 There was no "blizzrard" in 2010...just like there was no "blizzard" in 1996. It was not a blizzard. The liberal jew news media overhypes every little flake of snow just to scare people.
@bmorecity20 nothing will top 96. feb 2010 was great but the blizzard of 96 had ABSURD winds. 50 mph gusts. Temps were below 20. Feb 2010 wasn't even as bad as President's Day 2003.
That's because you didn't have to dig out 3 cars and then go to Mercy Medical Center and get stuck for 2 days, LOL. Don't worry I had my turned during the blizzard of 83' LOL I was 9 years old at the time too
OMG me too! I worked on the 12th Floor back then! We were stuck for a day and a half, but we had to act a fool when we found out they were taking people back home after they had only worked 8 or 12 hrs!
I recall that. Even out at White Marsh, they were selling "I survived the Blizzard of 96 sweatshirts". It was my daughters first time in the snow. She was 15 months old give or take.
I've lived there all my life except those 2 years around this event, when I lived in CT. MD got hit with this huge single blizzard, and my dad has pix of the snow on the other side of the open doors - nice flat piles up to the doorknobs. Meanwhile in CT we simply got hit with "normal" snowfall every week for some 6 wks like clockwork, starting that time.
I was in my freshman year of high school in P.G. County and we were delayed most, if not all of the week following the Blizzard, and it was a fun time then. Watching TV, playing video games, no school for a while and during the height of the storm, watching the snow pile up and drift.
I was stuck at work at BWI. I could have gotten home but wouldn't have gotten back the next day so they put us up in a hotel...the Suisse Chalet, which now is La Quinta. I didn't even pack an overnight bag because I was sure it wouldn't snow! (too many false alarms over the years) My car was in the hangar during the storm and I drove home without a flake on the car! This is, until I got stuck on my street and had to get towed. :-(
WOW! The blizzard of 96' brings back so many memories, no school, I don't think I had to attend church for that week, and um, did I say no school. Ahh. . .the best. All I did was play video games since I couldn't go outside and play because I was sick. :(
aw man this blizzard i will never forget it, i was in elementary school and the snow was taller then me. the best part i like about these blizzard is when they canceled school. WHOOOWEEE i was so happy as a kid. I use to watch the news and at the bottom of the screen waiting for them to cancel baltimore county schools!
I also remember it started on a saturday night and ended on sunday night but it snowed again that tuesday and friday of that week, three different storms
what is with maryland and getting there roads cleaned? I was 19 when this happened and school was closed for a solid week!!! I moved to Mass a year later...and from the time I was 10 till I graduated high school, I can count all the times I had off from school because of bad weather on one hand...
I remember it as well. I was a freshman in high school in the D.C. suburbs and the schools in my area were either closed or delayed for an entire week.
i was just hopin to find somethin on the blizzard of 96(i didnt know it was really called that lol) i was eight when it happened, and in the alley there was about a foot and a half of solid ridgid ice piled up that i played on. the snow almost came over my head, and when i came in the house it took like an hour to get my clothes off because of the amount of snow and ice in them. i also remember a truck comin thru droppin off food supplies
I remember that storm that is normal for a NYS winter Baltimore had plows ans trucks come in from NJ NY MA as RI just to help MD was crippled for 3 weeks
I also remember that D.C. was virtually shut down and D.C. Public Works (Who handles the snow removal for the District) were heavily criticized after this storm about their poor performance in removing the snow compared to the Virginia and Maryland suburbs.
aw man that was a crazy storm. After it we piled the snow up about 10 ft and jumped into it from my bedroom window. (i lived on the 3rd floor) me and my bro actually tried to get to the park down the street and i actually got lost cause he snow was over my head. i was 7.
