Going to Lousienna for a missions trip. Stayin in covington and crossing this bridge twice a day to get into new Orleans. Leaving Saturday, should be fun
LOL. I thought they were moving really fast at first. I was like... WHOA!!! then I saw people speeding past them even faster, and at last heard the high pitched squeel in the background and realized it is being fast forwarded.
No its not the longest bridge in the world.. although it is the longest bridge to cross over a body of water. the Bang Na Expressway is 1.4 times longer and if you look at railroad the Weihe Grand Bridge is over 2 times longer
I was going to post this exact same thing. It is the longest bridge entirely over a body of water. Also the longest Twin Span (if I can call it that, not sure...) completely over water.
Yes this is a very long bridge. I've been on it so much it seems shoter now but when I was little I rememeber thinking it felt like hours. I remember one time going across it with my Teddy bear my head on the window and It felt like forever.
Depending on how slow you hafta drive, or your parents, in turn depending on weather, and whether or not the northside-placed bascule bridge opens [I actually went across this in 1995] it CAN be up to fiftity minutes...Just think of it as a marathon bridge.
Woah, there really is a lake pontchartrain! Did you see any zombies or hear any voices singing "Come down to lake pontchartrain. Rest your soul and feed your brain!" ???
What if Lake Michigan or her sisters [Eerie, etc.] had THEIR caueswaysa..they'd be the longest bridges in the world.New Orleans area has not just this but a PAIR, and the southern side has some almost as long ones.
I hated crossing this bridge whenever I needed to get to that side of town...it was soooooooooooooooooo damn long seems like the trip would never ever ever end lol !
its not that bad once you get used to it, i cross it five days a week for work and my dad has crossed it everyday for work since 1972 when he moved to mandeville.
Bang Na is the longest elevated roadway. But who cares about that, it doesn't even cross a body of water. Where's the challenge? That's the reason it gets excluded from all the lists because it's not a big deal bridge.
I saw this bridge once on google maps n thought "whoa, that's long!". Do they define a difference between bridges and causeways though these days? I know there are some huge causeways in the US, very impressive. May as well be bridges in my book. Have you seen the huge suspension bridge in Japan though, my god that's big lol.
speed doesn't really make things more exciting though does it? if he was doing a constant 100mph and there was no traffic you wouldn't know any different. It's only cos ppl are overtaking you think he's going slowly.
Your caption times are too short. (don't have enough time to read them w/out pausing.) Add Mandeville, causeway, and Metairie in your tags section. I cross this bridge 3x a week to go to school. You get used to it.
i was born in new orleans, now i live in destrehan its by new orleans i hate when i have to cross that bridge but i have to see most of my famly who lives in slidell , any ways that bridge takes forever for a bridge
or call motorist aid and ask them to tow you to the end and then walk to the nearest gas station and and if you have gas containers fill em up....yall....yes i live in new orleans
I don't miss commuting that thing every day... that got tiresome. Man, and the fog that was so thick, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. And the heavy rain... god, the heavy rain, did I mention you couldn't see your hand in front of your face?
Hey man,u going to get kill and others...
