After reading some of the replies and judgments made by individuals I realize that what is important to me is that I know my faith is real, I know that Christ died for all of us so that we may live and I see miracles happening in my life and others on a daily basis. The secret is letting go of the control and giving that control to God. Once you have done that, everything becomes so clear.
Amazing video and it touches on what the church (ekklesia) always meant to be: called out. This video is not intended to be explicit when it comes to naming Jesus. It's a seeker video. The dreamers of rethink church know they cannot rethink church without the power and vision from God!
Hopefully this video will spur all who watch it to think about what YOU can do to spread the love of and word about Jesus to those who are alienated from or unfamiliar with him and the church universal. For example, I see my local gym as a mission field. I am building relationships there and getting to know people there; both who they are personally & where they are spiritually. When the Holy Spirit prompts me to share faith-related messages or kindnesses, I do. What can YOU do? Go for it!
I did not hear Jesus name once in this video. I think the message puts the burden on us instead of God . We do this with Gods help and our prayers not on our own strength.
You didn't notice the written words on that bulletin board in the video that said, "God is real, pray"? These days, what is seen is more important than what is said, we're in a visual culture now.
I dont feel there is any burden put on us...as Christians it is our obligation to be the hands and feet of Christ...not just to sit in a building for an hour on Sunday...I am excited that the Methodist Church is trying to reevaluate what the modern church has become versus what it is really called to be.
we watched this at youth group on a sunday night... and i hadn't seen it since, and now they are showing sections of this on TLC...as a methodist youth i an impowered with the fact that our church is taking such bug steps to spread the word =)
I grew up Methodist, but now am Presbyterian. This is an incredible video that we have shared with our pastor, because it really fits with our church's vision. My only problem with the video is not with the fact that it's Methodist, it's that I hate to see us continue to compartmentalize ourselves as denominations. If I could change the video it would end not "the people of the United Methodist Church" but rather it would end, "the United People of Jesus Christ's Church."
What if the quality of our Christian faith naturally drew people to imitate Christ in us? What if we had and used the gifts of the Holy Spirit of God? What if we did the typical miracles that were done in the New Testament? What if we glowed with the Fruit of the Holy Spirit everywhere we went? What if we used our authority in Christ to show up all the other religions in the world?
The UMC has come a long way since I left. Bravo.

Proud to be a Methodist!
We must rethink church AND religion and get out of the routine of Christianity in order to live more Christ-like.

We can do it. We should.
