  • Can someone help me out i downloaded blender but Im not sure if theres a way to actually upload some of my drawings to the program so i can begin modeling around my drawings

  • omfg where did you learn that

  • Thar's amaxing :D

  • How do you learn modelling skills like that :o insane.

  • Damn how in the FUCK!?

  • Can we see a slowed down version of it?

  • 4 PEOPLE MUST BE USING PAINT..

  • Wow. Just.... Wow. If only I had the money to pay for programs like that.... :(

This is one of my favorite videos ever. I absolutely adore dragons, especially fat ones. :3 You are a true artist, man. This is beautiful.

  • Hm, so you just made an outline of the body, extruded it, beveled the sides (and other things I couldnt see what you were doing) and just added the appendages from there? Never thought to do it that way... :O

  • Beautiful model. Everytime I try making a character model I just fail epicly D: All I can make are guns :c

  • GOD i wish i could concept like that!!!! fucking outstanding work.

  • That texturing part is a pretty high wtf factor to me lol... impressive

  • looks so complicated! O.o wow.. Must of taken agers! im impressed. Welldone.

  • so is this how sorts how someone makes animated movie such as Bolt or Nightmare before Christmas? they draw a character and make it 3D and use that figure throughout the movie? or is it more complicated then that?

  • @PACMANnot Pretty much. draw it, model it, texture it, make a skeleton for it, then animate the hell outta it. :P

  • around 0:50 how did you rotate the picture to draw

  • @picsparks photoshop CS3 and 4 can rotate the canvas display (doesn't change the actual data so you won't get blur from using it repeatedly) - if that is what you mean.

  • @krihan3

that might be it. I've seen cases of people drawing the profile of a character then display horizontal lines and transfer data fro the front view.

  • ah no then I misunderstood you

if you want to draw a front view you'll have to DRAW it, photoshop can't make up data that isn't there

you can use the Guides instead of drawing actual lines

  • HQ plz !!! :)

  • Whoa were you actually making your own alpha brushes for Zbrush? How does that work?

  • you're a fucking genius!

  • awesome work

  • and what program (or plug in) do you use to make 2D shapes from his body? Please tell us :D

  • ?? he just use photoshop, 3ds max and zbrush ...

  • how can I put an image on plane or polygon?

  • what about texture?????

  • How'd you import the original picture from photoshop into 3DSMAX? Does it have to be made with PhotoShop? 'Cause I dont have it...

I tried using my own artwork i scanned and edited in paint... will that not work? Or am I just doing something wrong?? HELP!!(Please)

  • I just saved out a jpeg and put it on a plane in MAX.

  • yeah, i found out how to do it yesterday... But how'd you turn the dragon's body into a

3d shape? Im new to 3DSMAX, and i prefer Zbrush, but I've already used up my trial and dont have $600 to spend on the real thing, so i have to use 3DSMAX(Which is also under a grace period, so please reply A.S.A.P.)

  • There is no magic button to turn a 2d drawing into a "3d shape". You have to start with a cube, and use the images as reference.

  • Just... WOW =O

  • He could not fly when he wants to... he is too fat

  • you need a better VRAM

  • go drink a glass of stfu juice.

  • So let me see if I got this. First you use some sort of sketching program (not sure what) and cycle through some ideas. After picking the one you like, you take it in to 3DS Max and make a relatively lo-res model. After that you take it to Z-Brush and detail the hell out of it, and then you use the detailed Z-Brush image as your texture map for the lo-res model.

Is that about right? You're doing something I'd like to be able to do and I'm just trying to decipher it. Any pointers or tutorials?

  • Yep.

    Concept:Photoshop

    Modeling:3DSMAX

    Texturing and Normal Map: ZBRUSH

    Final Render: 3DSMAX

    Good luck :)

Thanks to all for your comments.

  • VERY NICE MAN !!!!!

  • at 3:03 what program are you useing to color him?

  • Well, I used Z-Brush for all the texture painting, but I used photoshop to experiment with the color palate.

Thanks to all for your comments.

  • this is so awsome it looks real!

just wondering, can you create something only on Zbrush or do you need to start out with a bace model made by another program?

  • effin awesome!

wii they need some one like you which ever pays the best and good luck to ya man aww some dragon!!!!!!!
