  • MBV shit over everything

  • Sorry, "they".

  • Don't feed the obvious troll. Plus, he misspelled the band he was trying to praise.

  • bnugia2... have you been know under username DP elsewhere?

  • here is all the angst you will ever need, in this song

  • lmao the music theory kids trying to define MBV is so funny

hey, how about opening up your brain/heart and letting the music pour out instead of thinking about it forever?

  • I am certain this is the greatest song ever written.

  • @DoolittleKid Pixies have written better songs, you of all people should know that!!

  • @ROFLcustard Pixies are way up there, obviously. Where Is My Mind is close second, but nothing else can capture the new sonic dimensions that this song takes me to.

  • @DoolittleKid I was actually thinking about "Hey" or maybe even "Motorway to Roswell" but I respect your opinion because you have an awesome taste in music.

  • Wow, wow, wow!! Oh....and WOW!!!

As good hearing now as it was in '91!!

  • Scott Graftons favorite song!

  • and a shitload of pedals

  • This Song makes me think of a fast, hard and fun night out at the pubs.

  • bnugia2 - love your songs, hate your commercials.

  • @42belvedere Thanks but the ads are Youtube's fault, I can't do anything about 'em :|

  • @bnugia2 - I see. In that case, you have my humblest apologies.

  • @42belvedere get adblock for your browser

  • @pranagy -thanks...I was under the impression that the ads generated revenue for whoever posted the video. Guess I'm still a novice here.

  • "Dear God,

If you're real, please kill this 31 douchebags who don't even have balls to stay on their own places listening to their own music. Just to leave all of us who really loves this alone listening to real music.

    Thanks"

  • Seriously all those people commenting badly get a life, lets see you do this!!!My Bloody Valentine are one of the biggest influential bands out there, every sound is picked out one by one you guys are dumb asses these guys are genius.

  • Just reading down the list of comments; what is with all the insults?

  • icix1,

Is that supposed to be degrading remark? I guess if you think it is in tune, you obviously can't tell the difference between dissonance in a chordal context and being out of tune in a greater context. I guess you listen to this band a lot; it is affecting your hearing.

  • Comment removed

  • These guys are seriously out of tune!!!

  • @godthaabb

hey tardmunch, that's the fucking point. I assume you're too dense to have heard of dissonance?

  • @Icix1

Is that supposed to be degrading remark? I guess if you think it is in tune, you obviously can't tell the difference between dissonance in a chordal context and being out of tune in a greater context. I guess you listen to this band a lot; it is affecting your hearing.

  • @godthaabb

It's obvious not in tune you fucking twat, that's exactly the point. You can have dissonance while being in tune or being out of tune. You clearly don't get it. I hope you get cancer and die in a fire, preferably both.

  • @Icix1

"You can have dissonance while being in tune" - unfortunately these guys are not in tune. Me; I hope you get a music lesson.

  • @godthaabb

That's the whole fucking point you slobbering idiot, by having one person slightly out of tune they achieve dissonance without chordal context. Jesus, how fucking stupid are you? can't you tell this was an intentional move away from consonance? By leaving notes unresolved by altered tuning it creates a need for completion and adds a more complex sound to the song. You're an idiot, who the fuck did you get your lessons from, pot smoking college dropouts?

  • @Icix1 This song wouldn't have half of that alluring, cosmic pull it has without the subtle harmonic anomalies created by the dissonance in the basic melodies of this song.

I mean, duct taped whammy bars, half step bends and crappy Jazzmaster intonation make this.

If you view this song through the scope of diatonic harmony, you're insane.

That's like making Frank Zappa work at a Radio Shack.

    Wasted.

  • @Icix1 That is to say, you're one hundred percent right.

  • @godthaabb

Seriously, your hilarious in your lack of comprehension. You act like something HAS to be in tune for it to be good. When in fact, taking something out of tune with it's context can lead to complex and useful effects. It's a tried and true tactic. You're probably one of those morons that keeps everything tuned to E and any deviation from standard tunings is impossible.

  • @godthaabb

Seriously, eat a bag of dicks you moron, the congenital birth defects are insurmountable in your situation.

  • @godthaabb

Dissonance is the unresolved quality of the sound that has a "need" to be resolved. By playing slightly out of tune, they are evoking a dissonant feel of a sound that needs completion. Yet, by being out of tune, they make sure the note never achieves consonance, thus leaving you hanging and wanting more. You can have dissonance with or without chordal context, it is just an instability that needs to be resolved. In summary, you're a moron and sadly this is way over your head.

  • While it's enjoyable, I don't get how people think this is such a great album. It's good, but not great.

  • @DeathShok you just cant say its not a great album. if you think this isnt masterpiece, please, tell us. What album you consider to be great ?

  • @Denodlinna Well, stuff like Pink Floyd's The Wall, (and a few others from them), NMH with Aeroplane over the sea, Abbey Road. I could name more, but they don't comme to mind. Although it's good music, it's just too all over the place for me to really love it.

  • hey guys, i hate spammers as much as the next guy but I make some music that i really believe in and if anybody wanted to check it out i think people who like my bloody valentine would like it. anyway if you're feeling nice check out this channel and listen to from morning until the end of the day. Thanks!

  • this is still the best song ever.

  • Truth is Kevin Shields dragged his penis across an out-of-tune violin for all the sounds on this album, just sampled and tuned to different pitches.

  • ...Je veux que ton cœur soit heureux!

  • fuck you bitch ill take as much acetophenone as i want niga i can handle ma drugs!

  • @LebaronDePropane i think its the bass... me and my friend were tripping about how much bass they used and how good it sounded at the show!

  • @LeBaronDePropane it's the sound of angels crying

  • best thing to ever come out Ireland. take that Bono. lol

  • Masterpiece ,too !!!!

  • A Masterpiece. We need more of this these days

  • @LeBaronDePropane It's a flute.

  • SNIX SNIX SNIX

  • Ahhhhh. Is this a dream?

  • my favourite shoegaze song, mbv 4evaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing the ambient drone the guitars make. the chords aren't complex either.. the last shades of it's synergy to my perception is amazing.

  • A pleasant shade of red

  • i don't understand why this doesn't have a video

  • One of the most beautiful songs of all time.

  • I can get an almost perfect guitar match to this with a fender jazzmaster, a NY big muff pi, and a Vox ac30. Make sure you use the tremelo arm the whole time (lots of people think it's a chorus pedal but it's actually the trem).

  • @LeBaronDePropane It's the amazing technique of Wall of Sound, google it ;)

  • Could somebody explain how they get the sound from 0:08-0:12? Is that the guitars or what?

  • @LeBaronDePropane Welcome to the unsolved enigma that is Kevin Shields.

  • @LeBaronDePropane Are you talking about the high pitch melody? That's a sample being pitched up and down with a keyboard. I imagine at that time (1991 god im old) they were using Akai S1000's.

  • Comment removed

  • @LeBaronDePropane for the guitar, not the keyboard melody, grab yourself a marshall stack, crank it, put it through a big muff and a distortion pedal like a marshall guvnor or shredmaster, or you can get a ds-2, plug the remote jack into the output of the big muff so you can turn them on at the same time and model the distortion from editing their levels, but ur gonna need a jazmaster to really get it.

  • Comment removed

  • @LeBaronDePropane to get the keyboard sound out of a guitar youll need a nice chorus though. recommend the small clone.

  • @LeBaronDePropane from what I understand it is all foot pedals

  • @kevincormier1 whammy bar actually

  • @LeBaronDePropane It's a synthesizer, I believe. Gorgeous melody.

  • @DrDavidHowler this album had no synthesizer, it's all guitar

  • @BabyLove578 Kevin Sheilds is the most underrated guitarist of all time.

  • @MrticTac921 i know it sucks

  • @LeBaronDePropane Sounds like a keyboard synthey sound with some pitch bend

  • @LeBaronDePropane

No, probably some sort of keyboard or noise generated via computer.

  • @LeBaronDePropane It's guitar. Kevin shields used a shit-ton of pedals to make the sounds on this record.

  • @LeBaronDePropane I'm pretty sure that's a synth or something

  • @LeBaronDePropane It's tough to tell, but based on the wavering sound at the end it sounds like the guitars (because it sounds like he's using the tremolo arm), but to get the tone to that place would take a ridiculous amount of effect boxes and a massive Marshall stack, so it's not exactly practical.

  • @TheNatedogg56 Keep in mind shoegaze music tends to push the limits of pedal/guitar effects. So I'm pretty sure it's a guitar.

  • @LeBaronDePropane it's a synth

  • @LeBaronDePropane I'm fairly certain that Kevin Shields probably spent hours trying to make a guitar sound like that when he could have done it with a synth in minutes.

  • @LeBaronDePropane Pitcher shifter + compressor than can modify the attack of the sound + slight phaser

  • @LeBaronDePropane Its VERY likely. Ive seen great covers where they use a guitar for that "solo". But it could be a different instrument. They rarely use different instruments (From the albums I've heard), like in Moon Song, they use bongos or something in that line... I highly believe its a guitar with the addition of simply outstandingly-stylized pedals and such.

  • @LeBaronDePropane According to Kevin Shields, they just use guitars for those type of sounds. I have no idea if they do anything like recording it and increasing the treble and pitch. All I know is that (stripped down) it's just a guitar.

  • @LeBaronDePropane A flute

  • @t3hpwner3r was a flute live. on the record, it is a guitar.

  • @EroticVultures No shut up

  • @t3hpwner3r not going to happen. it's a flute when they did it live. it's a guitar on the record. Sorry, that's just the truth!

  • @EroticVultures Stop fabricating stuff on youtube EroticVultures or I will report you

  • @t3hpwner3r it's not fabricated you worthless moron

  • @EroticVultures Reported to the police for repeatedly lying about flutes. You're looking at some serious time here liar pants

  • @LeBaronDePropane hey man, I highly recommend you get the 33 1/3 book about Loveless...it's quite cheap and very interesting. that noise is a guitar run through a few octave effects (two Whammy pedals I believe, and of course Kevin is using a tremelo arm)....live, they used a flute player to get that effect, back in the day...

  • Without a doubt in my mind, the greatest song ever.

  • Does anybody know how to get that kind of pitch bent guitar sound? like it would be sweet to play one chord continuously and use a pedal or computer program to alter what chord is being played with a kind of portamento effect going on. Thanks to anyone with an idea

  • FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE , THIS SONG IS AFTER AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR GOOD CHARLOTTE

  • @ben2k1111 Good Charlotte? Oh yeah American kiddie metal crap

  • The last great rock album. Still sounds like the future. Never mind Nevermind.

  • I remember being terrified the first time I listened to this song. It was my first My Bloody Valentine song, and I remember being enchanted by the melody and vocals, but terrified by its sheer volume. It was unreal.

Happy Birthday Loveless. You'll always be the best album of the 90's.

  • happy birthday "Loveless". 20 years today this album was released

  • I'd like this if the distortion actually had a point, all I hear is noise inside a rythm and a voice too low to even be heard. You may call this art, I call it boring repetitive noise.

  • @jevimetal13 It's like my speakers are shitting right in my ears.

  • @nkelly1432 *Brohoof*

  • @jevimetal13 I take back my previous statement. It's actually pretty good, you just have to be in the right mood. brohoof

  • @jevimetal13

Nigger you said 'brohoof' so I know your fucking gay. If you choose to equate yourself with My Little Pony fans your opinion on anything is invalid.

  • @jevimetal13 i like how he's going on multiple video's and saying he doesnt like the band, go listen to something you like? I FEED TROLLS!!!!!

  • @ChaosTitties I actually like expanding my musical horizons, not staying with just what I like. I have an open mind, and was told to check this. Thought it was crap. Commented. Is that trolling or expressing my opinion?

  • @jevimetal13 why am i even commenting on this

  • @jevimetal13 PUTOOOOOOOOOO IGNORANTE.

No habria discusion?.

    Paz tio

  • @jevimetal13 The point of the voice being hard to hear and somewhat distorted is that the vocalist is trying to make his voice more of an instrument. I honestly think it works.

  • @GrayFox1203 Is it for that purpose or because he's trying to hide the fact he's not a good singer? I vote for the second.

  • This is music. This is art.

    Music is not a commodity.

  • @StAraqiel Deep, I want to have sex with you.

  • We've come from instruments to wanting to have human voices to human voices to be an instrument.

  • I have to agree fully with you horsehospital, they were truly awesome at the Appollo that night. My ears were ringing for days after...

  • Why do people insist on Commenting back and forth at each other?

    Enjoy the music.

  • everytime springs come i think about that song

  • What.....real music with real voices and instruments and everything???.....no gold teeth nigger screaming about raping something??...where have I landed?

  • @31531552 Don't be racist, asshole

  • @muslimmetalman Racist??..what on earth leads you to think I am a racist sherlock?...I'm white and I am proud of that fact and I made a perfectly valid point. You know , if you don't like white or being white let me remind you white men brought us the car,airplane,steamship,electricity,phone,T.V.,computer,radio,cycles, space travel, all communications post fire, and on and on. We all owe a great debt to the white man. All i said was it was nice not to see some gold tooth talentless nigger ruin

  • @31531552 Actually, the white man are in debt to the black man for being dicks to them for hundreds of years, enslaving them, and then not having to deal with a backlash. So you can fuck right off.

  • @SK8BRDDUD123 The black man actually is in debt again to the white man for bringing his ancestors over from Africa, and now he lives here in America free to be anything he wants to be including president of the nation..if not for the white man bringing his ancestors here he would still be in Africa with a fucking bone in his nose getting his head cut off from some Hutu or Rawandan murderer or chasing AIDS..So if you are white you are a limp wristed dumb fuck that has bought into all this shit

  • @31531552 No, mate, i haven't and am not. We went to there country, took them from their people. It is the least we could do to bring them over here. And you clearly know little about African conflict. If it weren't for their corrupt governments maybe they could progress, but they block the way of charity. And i'm sure a lot of people have been buying into the ideal that we actually help.

  • @31531552 What a cock.

  • you're just as "stupid" for repeating the same message over and over because he expressed his opinion that actually has a reasonable explanation..... your an idiot! your an idiot! [you can't even spell you're correctly]

He disputes that this can't be classified as pop since it is "underground". But if you consider Pop a style, it's essentially -replicating- the style of music commonly associated with Popular production-oriented music. Dreampop and Synthpop are not mainstream, but they are pop

  • this is such a great song

  • Shoegaze <3

  • noise pop

  • Loveless may be the most ambitious album of the last 20 years. The fact that people are STILL holding out hope that Shields will get back in the studio 2 decades later is evidence of that. Personally, I hope this is the last we hear from him, because it's more than enough. Loveless is like the girl you marry whom you could never have pictured yourself with. You can't quite explain why she's the one for you, but you don't care, because being with her is fuckin awesome.

  • @mrw21 Even if they don't ever return to a studio, they have already given me a dream come true by reforming for the gigs in 2008. I genuinely cannot ask for one more thing from life in terms of music, I'm not joking, not one gig since MBV reformed and I saw them at Manchester Apollo has fired me with excitement like that and possibly only Talking Heads could surpass it although I doubt it because I don't think they'd live up to my hopes. MBV surpassed them. Had BAD tinnitus ever since though!

  • why does this remind of mellowdrone's elephant..

  • At first I thought that this album is just a noise

well, it's just a noise, but noise with a soul

  • @gogolplex74

No it isnt noise, it still has structure to it, true noise music is just random shit on the spot, this isnt noise music.

  • @GEETARS3 well but it is noisy

  • @SpellboundHellhound There would need to be a clear definition of 'shoegaze' and 'indie' first though.

  • >that feel when I'm the only kid my age that listens to this kind of stuff

This is just really fascinating music.

I sometimes feel bad for those who don't know about it, but sometimes I feel some people just don't deserve to know about it.

    Anyways, perfect song.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX yeah, I feel the same, but theres a lot of teenagers listening to Shoegaze judging by the youtube coments!! =)

  • @StenooLive I suppose, but I meant to say in school.

I wasn't being clear enough, my apologies.

    Haha, but I'm glad.

  • @StenooLive Shoegaze inst an old classical thing bro. Ever herd of the horrors? a contemporary shoegaze band (with a post-punk influence but so did MBV when they first started out). Anyhow try the horrors out if you aint already. Peace.

  • @splinter360 horrors are incredible! i saw them like 2 weeks ago. really great show

  • @XxC0pyrightxX

    Thats exactly how I feel!

  • @XxC0pyrightxX I'm 15 and this is the shit

  • @muslimmetalman Ah, I'm glad.

    I'm younger though.

    I also agree.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX how old are you?

and are you religious by the way?

I'm just trying to find more about double minorties. Thanks

  • @muslimmetalman I'm one year younger than you, so I'm 14.

    Yes, I'm a little religious.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX

Why did that comment get thumbs up? The whole thing reeks of faggotry and people like it? The fuck?

  • @ihavekankles Hmm, you sound quite upset.

Sounds like something is going on at home?

Perhaps your father brutally rapes your small cunt.

    Could it be?

    Earthier way, you have aids.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX

Pathetic attempt at insulting anyone including me. If I were 12 I might be bothered, but I but I'm not so I'm not. The only one who has outed themselves as a massive faggot is you with that comment 3 weeks ago.

You combined trying to to greentext on youtube with that cliche comment of "i'm special unlike other people my age because i listen to less popular music". It's fucking sad, pal.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX

AND you like MLP -- that seals it, you really are a gay retard.

  • @ihavekankles You have no right to judge what I watch when I assume you have not seen any of it yourself.

I do not feel the need to justify the liking of a TV show to you.

I'm going to watch My Little Pony; your response is irrelevant.

    "gay retard."

Oh yeah, this coming from a person who favorites Justice and Neutral Milk Hotel.

Therefore, that must mean your opinions don't count.

    Makes perfect sense.

  • @XxC0pyrightxX whoa whoa whoa. I agree that dude shouldn't be judging you.. But Neutral Milk Hotel is totally amazing..!

  • Respond to this video... ps, it's a bit ironic that you're judging his taste in music out of anger of him judging your taste in shows, no?

  • @XxC0pyrightxX >using greentext on YouTube

  • @ifhgsfj ISHYGDDT

  • @XxC0pyrightxX >that feel when someone thinks he's on 4chan

  • Comment removed

  • Happiest sad song ever.

  • I listen to this song when I'm high, drunk or sober. Good music is good music no matter what mood you are in.

  • 1,000th Like :3

    Love this band!

  • mumble mumble mumble

  • VEENU_UB:HIGH POWERED POPS;BRILLIANT COMPOSITION;CAN' T LEAVE IT
