Great job, but the lazy swing is missing. Granted, that WAS the most difficult and overlooked element of Bonham's playing, but it's also what made him stand out from other simply hard-hitting players.
Bass playing is the best part of the song,it took me a few months to get it together and sound proper, the drum parts I was playing at 12 yrs old.For me stringed instruments seem harder to memorize,I guess Im better at drums than bass, this is a HARD song to really nail on the bass, not any sit in my room player can master it,its a tuff one, those who can nail I give credit .
with in the first 30 seconds i was so drawn in, this is how you know its the bass and drums that reach your soul and heart while the guitar and vocals reach your ears
every musician is important in any band (they all have their own role to play within the band). You need a strong rhythm section to keep the groove and timing in the band and you build up from there. Guitar and bass get the time from the drummer. Bass gives the groove. Guitars shred etc etc... Apart from that... I thought this was brilliant :)
I haven't the slightest idea how people get the idea that drums and bass are the most important instruments in a band. On average, what would someone be more likely to listen to: drums and bass only, or guitar and singing only? I mean, seriously.. Not knocking the rhythm section at all, cuz i showcase them heavily in my own compositions, but by no stretch are they more essential
@GuitarGreek006 the bass and drums may or may not be the most essential instruments but they're the most relied upon. you need a drummer to help keep everyone in time and then you need a bass player to lock in with the drummer and keep the groove going/ play the progressions underneath the solos, if you don't have those things you're going to have a pretty empty sounding band and by saying people would listen to just guitar and vocals more is taking the original statement out of context.
THIS IS JUST TO UNBELIEVABLE!! For the first time i'm my life I see Ed Greene on drums,, The very guy that play for non other than the "guru of love" BARRY WHITE! Yes Barry White,,,, and the LOVE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA!
Yes that's him on that sizzing solo on "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby" IM JUST totally blown away, Totally fickin unbelievable!!! YOU DO IT ED!!
awesome.. i can't play any instruments, but i love hearing good music. i remember the first time i heard this song.. john paul jones rips it. and you 2 guys have a great groove.. good job.
Very, very nice and sooo funky!!! Every thing's groovin' and so in-the-pocket!! I didn't miss the guitar or voice at all. An inspiration to all those that play in the rhythm section!
My Grandpa on drums!... hes into R@B and i love to play to metal haha he hates the double bass! I love it! But he can read drum notes so well and i barely can do the basic notes!
@HipCovers Ed Greene is a legend. If you've heard all those Barry White productions, that's him on the drums. The guy was one of the top drummers, and in demand, drummers on the West Coast during the 70s.
I'm sorry but i'm not agree with you. The bassman follow the song in a perfect way...like the original JPJ, while the drummer only keep rythm...but he never change when he have to do it. Seems like he doesnt know the song...(infact he reads the notes on the paper). Maybe he has just to learn the song. (sorry for my bad english....)
This is just great! Perfect synch between the drum kit and the bass. I think this is the best bass line from Led Zeppelin. Well done guys. Also it would have been much more original if Ed Greene only had the bass drum, the snare and the hi-hat.
Bass isn't quite loud enough. But superb job by all. The drummer is like a freakin atomic clock here, excellent timing. My only question is how can you bear drumming with only a high hat? Needs at least a crash! =O
@rockermetalhead1200 That's sheet music, not tab, and it's not all that strange especially for jazz drummers or just for songs that have lots of small changes.
Ed Greene, what can I say. You are the funkiest!! I love every record that you played on from the first Lee Ritenour, to Billy Griffin's Hold me tighter in the rain to the Steely Dan stuff. Your shit is slick and it is funky man. Love it!
