  • 21-22 HES EVIL!

  • he is a cool bird.

  • lol i love these birds. and well all birds you can get to talk and sing stuff like that. A friend of mine he used to have something like this and the bird loved tv. And would do different sound effects to. The bird would go nuts if any star trek show came on. xD. IT would do different voices from tng to. that and sound effects. It was kick ass xD. The bird like data and picard the most. being youd hear make it so number one like all the time from the bird.

  • ooooooh he's so awesome!!! i must get one of my own! *giggles*

  • love him

  • I'm a great believer that the parrot should choose its owner. They are very opinionated!

    I recall someone wanted me to adopt her white cockatoo. The cockatoo was very friendly to me, and let me massage around his face.

    But then the owner started talking about how she was surprised he liked me, because she said he attacks her son, dog, and other people.

    I decided not to adopt the cockatoo after hearing that! Because I like a bird that is not going to hurt the human beings around me.

  • Can I ask what a 'sleep cage' is?

  • A sleep cage is what many parrot owners use in addition to their usual big cage.

    It's so their parrot can sleep in a quiet room away from tv noise and light as it's important parrots have twelve hours quality sleep a night to prevent them being grouchy the next day!

    A sleep cage is normally a small cage with a couple of perches and food and water, no toys needed at bedtime!

  • Amazon's need quality sleep. If the light is always on, they may think its breeding season, and start to defend their territory.

  • Yes, she gets a full twelve hours undisturbed sleep in the dark. In the lighter months she has a blackout cover over her cage.

  • That might be one reason she's so good natured.

  • She's fine with my boyfriend, who she belongs to, she usually lunges at me in typical Amazon style though! I still love her mind you but I wouldn't want to live with her!

  • Those are nice. I had one and I used to climb a tree and she strugles to climb the tree just to be next to me or in my arm

  • a ha ha ha

  • hehe aww how cute

  • It sounds kinda evil at the start. O.o But it gets better. XD

    ~~~~SIA
  • im getting my Yellow Crowned Green Amazon tommrow. shes 5 years old. I'm up the the challange of Training her and im very excited
  • How exciting! Best of luck with your new girl! :-)
  • truly gorgeous man, nice music too
  • Do parrots like to have another parrot as a companion, or are they happier with people? Why shouldn't a parrot roam the house? (Sorry to be so ignorant, but I love parrots, but know enough to not get one -- too inexperienced to be sure I could make one happy.)
  • It sounds like in the beggining he is saying,"now go to it, do it "do it, "wanna think about it?", ha ha ha , beautiful boy! Funny too. I want one of these he's so funny!!
  • He looks pretty content to me...when they sit in that position they are RELAXED...moreso when they are mimicking sounds. Mine does it all of the time. In fact if I approach him at times when he's busy mimicking he would rather sit there and do his "thing"--parrots are wonderful pets. I love mine, he's a blast.
  • Now there speaks someone who knows a thing or two about parrots! ;)
  • Thank you. Yes I do know much about parrots and love them very much. I got a chance to visit Parrot Jungle in Miami, Florida....it was awesome....so many beautiful parrots, macaws, and so forth. My Taino is a green cheek amazon and he's got some personality!!!
  • thats anoying!do u hear that every day?
  • Not in the least bit annoying to a parrot lover.
  • he kinda sounds like he's plotting something evil in the beginning. :D
  • *giggle* I agree. Lol, I want a grey someday - going to teach it to go MWAH HAH HAH HAAAAH! Would love it to do it in the night if someone was sleeping over in the same room as its sleep cage. Hah!
  • at the begining sounds like
    muhahahaha
    :D
    cute ~
  • cutie
  • Happy Charlie Parrot.
    :)
  • You should let the parrot be free and around the house. He doesn't look like a happy parrot.
    Watch the video called "Arturito singing" for a happy parrot.
  • What on earth are you talking about? Doesn't look like a happy parrot??! He is NOT shut in the cage, if you'd read my description you'd see I said he put himself to bed, the cage door is open.
    As for saying he doesn't look like a happy parrot, explain please?? Is he plucked? Does he look unhealthy? Is he quiet?
    If you watch his other videos you'll see he is free to enter and leave his cage as and when he chooses.
    Get your facts straight before making accusations like that, idiot.
  • I think Charlie looks a very happy chappy indeed.
    Obviously the comment about him roaming the house freely is made b y someone who doesn't own a parrot!
  • Arturito isn't happier--just more hormonal. With his eyes pinning and his tail spread, he'd be likely to bite. Charlie seems at peace with the world.
  • my nan has one of these parots, its alot older though, actually nearing 40 i think, the feathers on its chest are white now and its beak is a bit mangled but it does the exact same thing :) only human thing she can say is "hello maggy may" as thats what is usually said to her :)
  • i dont understand what he is saying but it is really adorable
    p.s. i really like his laugh, it's so COOL!
  • My bird is the same species as your bird, and he has a HUGE crush on your bird!
  • Is this neat bird a yellow faces? How old. I am thinking of buying an amaon. Any pointers.
    Robin
  • Charlie is a Yellow Crowned Amazon, not sure how old he is as he was given to my boyfriend by the family of his chiropractor after he died a couple of years ago.
    If you've never owned a parrot before please do lots of research! It's not to be taken lightly!
    I recommend you join parrot link (Google it, should be right there at the top), lots of very experienced owners/breeders there.
  • I have a Timney grey and a maximillian pionus. Use to have a red front macaw. Just was curious how this one was , I am looking at the yellow shouldered. But really was wondering how they really were to take care of for this species. Are they pretty independent.
  • I'm not an expert but I do know Amazons are well known for being rather head strong at times! They need to know who's boss!
    When Charlie's on his own we leave the tv on for him and he has plenty of toys. If there are people in the house but not in the same room as him he will start singing and chatting until we go back in but that's common to all parrots I guess, that's how they call for attention.
  • Timney Greys are easily intimidate by Amazons, which have more outgoing personalities. The benefit of Timneys is that they are less neurotic than Congo Greys.
    If you put my Amazons up against any Timneh, I know which one would bring down the house... and then pick his beaks with the other bird's bones after the performance. (Just kidding :-)
  • I've got three CAGs, Charlie belongs to my boyfriend but my CAGs and I often go and stay at Mark's house and the CAGs are far more outgoing than Charlie!
    Also, none of my CAGs are neurotic, I know it's always quoted as being the case but it isn't always true :-)
  • Maybe it's because the two young ones, Mojo and Shinda, have been introduced to new toys, food and people right from the moment I brought them home but they aren't afraid of anything! Which is great as I don't want to have to wait weeks before giving them new toys etc! LOL!
    Henry, my 45 year old CAG, is also not afraid of anything! I adopted him a few months ago and he's a wonderfully well-adjusted old boy! :-)
  • Perhaps you know what you are doing with your Congos. Amazons can put up with a noisy environment, noisy rambunctious children, other birds and pets, and a total absence of routine. Amazons can also tolerate separation from their favourite person without resorting to feather plucking. They can tolerate living outside, if the temperature is above freezing.
  • I did a LOT of research before deciding on and bringing home my Greys and so far I think I'm getting it about right!
  • The Congo of my vet's assistant started feather plucking, so she asked me to take care of the bird, but it was still feather plucking, even as I was scratching the back of his head.
    The problem is that the Congo had somehow bonded with her daughter or her daughter's dog, because when they left the house, the trouble started.
    I suggested that the Congo should be with them. She said her daughter was already hiding the dog at her dorm, but I think the Congo needs her more than the dog IMHO.
  • Absolutely agree, the bird should take priority in my opinion.
  • That might be a Yellow-crowned Amazon, or it might be a Panama Amazon. Who knows...
  • Charlie is a Yellow Crowned Amazon, the beak and toenails are the wrong colour for a Panama.
  • You mean that the Panama's should be much lighter, right? But I'm not really convinced. And you can find Yellow-crowns that are pretty light too.
    Your parrot looks so cute, just like a petite 12-13 inch Panama, not a 13-15 inch Yellow-crowned.
  • She is lovely! :-)
    Panamas have horn-coloured beaks and nails with no dark areas whereas YCs have the darker beak and nails.
    This is what we discovered after much research on the 'net anyway after Mark inherited Charlie from his chiropractor of all people!!
  • For an idea of size, have a look at my 'Mojo and Shinda' playlist. Charlie is a bit bigger than Mojo and a bit smaller than Shinda!
  • awwhh
  • awesome laugh hahahhaa
  • Yeah, he laughs 'dirty old man' style!
  • Cracks me up some of the music people play in the background to make their birds talk.
  • That was just MTV2 in the background. If I'm choosing a specific type of music to get Charlie going it'll be Muse every time as their songs always do the trick!
  • Funny, I love it.
  • this bird is very cool!
  • Indeed he is!
  • Charlie's amazing! It must be as much of a bless, interesting company, closeness and a curse for the constant yelling!
  • The only time it's rather annoying is if we're watching an action move because the louder the soundtrack, the louder Charlie will sing, laugh and shout! He's extremely close to Mark (my BF) but other than when I look after him he never lets me near him without lunging towards me!
  • Does Charlie like listening to Joy Division? My Yellow Naped Amazon looks similar to Charlie, and does quite a bit of chatting, laughing, singing and whistling. Parrots are great characters...mine always cheers me up.
  • Charlie enjoys listening to any music, the louder/heavier the better! He also likes it when the hoover or drill are being used, or when we watch a noisy film. Basically he loves noise and will try and out-sing/shout/laugh anything!
  • LOLZ!
    KILLER evil laugh!
  • he sound like hes whispering...charlie ++
  • Yes, he is! He says it over and over again!
  • It's really a boy's pet lol
    He sound like your boyfriend?
  • Oh he's def a boy's bird! He's only let me stroke him once and that was when I looked after him at my house for a week. Soon as he was back home he went back to lunging at me when I go too near! He mainly sounds like Gilbert, his previous owner, but has picked up a couple of words from my BF. For example, when my BF's on the phone he often says 'yeah' during the conversation, Charlie's got that one down to a fine art and sounds just like him!
  • Charlie is adorable. I also have a Charley who is a Yellow Crown except he does not talk. He is around 18 years old. Thanks for sharing Charlie with us.
    Amy from Chelmsford,Ma.
  • Thanks Amy! My boyfriend has only had Charlie since last November. He inherited him from a man named Gilbert so much of what he says includes the word Gilbert! For example, he'll often say 'Say goodnight Gilbert, goodnight Gilbert' then laugh! Gilbert obviously used to say that to him every night! Apparently the voice Charlie speaks with is just like Gilbert's! I'd love to know what song he sings.
  • He's too cute. I have a Yellow Nape named Rocky who is 14 years old. She, yes she..lol was in a rescue when I first got her. Her first owner was an elderly lady who passed away when Rocky was 3. Most of Rocky's words come from her as well as her laugh. She even calls herself a good broad..LOL Thanks so much for posting his video..
    Amy
  • your amazon is so adorable
  • My OW Zon, Daisy, is going nuts over Charlie! She is singing to him and all that! I have never seen her get this animated to a vid before.
  • hes not a blue front...hes actually a yellow crowned or a panama..id have to see him sideways
  • Sorry, 'BF' stands for boyfriend! He's a yellow crowned Amazon :)
  • its me again! u gotta get him to say Muse things. or have you already?!?!?!
  • Hiya Lisa! On believe me I've tried! I looked after him for a week and repeated the word 'Muse' over and over but I've not heard him say it :( It's possible he says it to himself in private though! :)
