Also genetic studies show that modern bulgarians are close to iranians, and there are many iranic words in the bulgarian language, also there are cultural similarities.

you seem to not understand that it doesn't really matter what your genetic makeup is. national identity is a choice you can make. for instance you can call yourself Bulgarian even if you are black (i know one guy who does) if you are a citizen.

that is not entirely true. during the middle ages rulers conducted mass expulsion and deportation. it is actually proven genetically that romanians/albanians and italians have more thracian than modern bulgarians although we inhabit the lands of the ancient thracians currently. these people were displaced by mass migrations of slavs in the 5th century and onwards.

I know both the theories well, while you know only the turkic one. The religion was zoroastrism but later after the heavy influence of turkic tribe, it mixed with the turkic believes. look, jigov, i dont reallz care about this = i am neither turkic, nor slavic, so this isnt an issue of mz personal ethnic agenda so to say.
I have never said that bulgarians are turkic, i just said that PROTOBULGARIANS were of turkic descent. the term BULGAR remained, but after the slavs came into what is now called bulgaria, protobulgarians (khan asparukh etc.) disappeared and the people became slavicized.
as for the 19th century balkan nationalism which is full of hatred...

toward the turks as former opressors and "underpeople", which was a dominant wave in the mainstream europe-centrist culture (turks were muslim, non-european etc.) - its a well known thing, as well. just take a look at misha glennys work at least. however, things never were that bad so that bulgarians, being aware of their cultural superiority, didnt mix with the turks. relations between ordinary people were quite relaxed, thats why i am saying - do not trust 19th century ethnic myths too much.

Also i am 100% sure that you know nothing about Bulgarian culture. Cuz if you knew at least little you would never recognise it as turkic. Turk = Nomad = good knowledge for animals that need, warriors, feeding with attacking and stealing (which is not bad for that time). Bulgars - Knowledge about Farmiin,Stone Builidng,Gold,Silver craftsmanship,Huge Religion pantheon (probably use indian or persian) and Also Warriors and etc... i can continue with the differences till morning.

jigov, i know quite a lot about bulgarian culture. turkic peoples were nomadic, but look at the turks ow - are they nomadic? no. at least for the last 800years they are sedentary. these things change, you never have nomads forgood or sedentary peoples for good. so what, are turks no more turks because they arent nomads as their ancestors were? protobulgarians were turkic, but they camefrom a wooded area of what is now tatarstan, and they were semi-nomadic.

Well your mestake Bulgars befor and Bularians today are almost the same thing. Yes we mixed, but still Dominating part is Bulgars. In Bulgaria blue eyes and blonde hair is VERY RARE, but not only this. The Culture of Bulgaria today is still in big parts proto-Bulgarian, but mixed with Thrakian and just a little slavian. (only a few rituals and traditions) Even the names today are Bulgarian. We did not slavicized because we were dominating. Ruler never mix with the others

Why would you say very rare? Where are you from? I grew up in Sofia and I'd say most of my friends have light colored eyes - blue / green and grey. My eyes are hazel-green. My family is half blonde (father's side).

My argument is: Bulgars are very old people, part of the Indian-Europian family, Turks are mongolid people (mongols,Tatars,Hazars)Bulgars mixed with them in Volga Bulgaria (50% of them are muslims today) and still Bulgars are dominating part not others, Here Bulgars mixed with Slavs and Thraks and still BG are Dominating. 55% DNA - Bulgar... rest is Slav+Thraks. Wester you go more slavic DNA you get. (Serbia,Slovenia,Slovakia) There is not Turkic people on Balkans.

Have you ever heard of Polovtsy? you know why they were called so by russians? search it and it'll give you some knowledge about ancient turkic tribes as "mongoloid" people. or just look at the studies conducted on avars, huns and other turkic people and you'll see they were perfectly caucasoid.
yes, modern anatolian turks are a mixture of ancient turkic tribes, anatolian, balkanic, semithic, iranian peoples + armenians. just as other peoples.

@Jigov, i think it's not too wise to say that rulers never mix with the dominated populations = just look at the Y haplogroups of european peoples (male line) and female chromosome lines and you'll see that.
and sure, modern bulgarians are a mix of protobulgars (turkic), thrakians who inhabited the area and invading slavic tribes. peoples never die out, they mix, assimilate and became part of a single ethnic group.

I will tell you one real proof. The title of Bulgarian rulers were KanasUbigii. this is Iranic title. The title "Han" is turkic, and always stay at the end of the name - Chingis han, Bulgarian rulers: Kanasubigii Kubrat,Asparuch,Tervel,Kotrag,Omurtag. its never Kotrag Han its KanasUbigii Kotrag. Anyway, turkic origin of Bulgars is a comunistic theory, its based on nothing.. like all comunistic theories. Proof me that Bulgars are turkic please?

First off it's Michel Platini. But regardless that is very antiquated view of nationality. French on its own is not even an ethnicity so it's even less so. French are originally descended from Franks (or germans).
these days if you become a citizen and identify yourself with the culture you can be called a member of that nation.

I am sure, no one man whose Nation is host can feel good in multicultural society(I am from Serbia and i can live with Hungarian,Bulgarian,Romanian,Croatian national minorities cause we share christian/european cultural heritage but never with Gypsies and Albanians).

that is not entirely true. during the middle ages rulers conducted mass expulsion and deportation. it is actually proven genetically that romanians/albanians and italians have more thracian than modern bulgarians although we inhabit the lands of the ancient thracians currently. these people were displaced by mass migrations of slavs in the 5th century and onwards.

There is not "Turkic" origin, because turkic means the same like "Barberian" or "Thrakian" just different empires had different name for the people who invaded them. Rome - Barberians, Greeks - Thrakians, China - tü-kü or Turku . The fact that you are not well informed doesnt change the history.
