@salinarrrrl69 - this song well preceeds Spinal Tap. Manowar = Kings of Metal and if you don't like it make you own vid for others that has Dire Straits or summat like that!
Ya, it's a good thing these scenes are ultra realistic, because four people died in the making of it. Seriously, I'd take the CGI if it meant not KILLING PEOPLE for my movie. It's so funny that people love this when it's seriously messed up.
30 cameras and three pilots later, what a rocking movie!..Ideal song for this clip, sends shivers down my spine, love it! Howard Hughes was totally rock'n'roll, so far ahead of his time ( was that a real cause for his mental illness and how much of what has been said about him can be trusted??)
It also looks good because Howard Hughes put huge money into the production, waiting months until those majestic clouds finally showed up. Hughes also fractured his neck trying to fly a stunt sequence himself, in a squirrelly Thomas-Morse Scout which he'd never even flown before. "Nothing is impossible to the man who won't listen to reason", as it were.
Millionare Howard Hughes was a pilot in WWI and wanted to show the audience EXACTLY what it was like to be an ace.
The problem with the CGI movies now is that no one has lived through WWI and can accuratly show us what went on up in the sky at the time. Now they just want to show us what Star Wars would look like WWI style.
I've only seen trailers for "Flyboys" and "The Red Baron" (2008), but this movie kicks the CRAP out of what I've seen thus far! CGI = computerized garbage imitation.
Excellent footage and the book of Revelation may be a relevant comment but I am not a fan of this music and not so sure Uncle Howard would have endorsed it
It looks awesome good because they used REAL planes, not that unreal CGI-crap in "Flyboys" or in this new Richthofen-movie. But there is a big error in this video. Manfred von Richthofen has never flown the Fokker D7 in combat.
Yes, Lothar von Richthofen did fly the D. VII but he never made it to the rank of "Rittmeister". At the end of WW1 he was only "Oberleutnant" or "First Lieutenant" if the american term is used.
So it is obviously that here his brother "Rittmeister" Manfred von Richthofen is portrayed, which never flew the D.VII in combat. Only the prototype at the beginning of 1918.
@germaneagle81 Well, but in that films like "Flyboys" isn't only "unreal CGI-crap"! Many of these planes are from "Martin Kindernays Flying circus"! A real Flying Machine!
have you never heard Manowar before, this song is epic. Your musical tastes are somewhat s**t i bet you still listen to britney spears and the backstreet boys. oh wait sorry Ja Rule or soulja Boy.
i must tell you i have never heard of manowar before...and im a musician!!! ive been playing guitar for two and a half years and play the same genre...but i was not impressed when i first heard this song...i felt that the main riff was too much like hearts baracuda...maybe if i keep listening to it, it would grow on me...but i am glad to hear a band i havent heard yet
What is the title of this movie - film? Any body knows?

for those talking about Manfred von Richtofen did not flying D7, he had a brother, named Lothar von Richtofen, who flew the D7.

Of course the planes in this video are real. This movie was made in the late 1920s -- they didn't have CGI back then!

Is fly boys a unofficial remake?
similarities
Both set in ww1,With volunteer Pilots flying for the RAF against the early Luftwaffe.
Both had a Bi-plane crashing into a zeppelin in a suicide attack.
Obasiliasfilosofos 2 years ago
It was the RFC in WWI...and in Fly Boys the volunteers are flying for the French...

Yes, some of these are real planes, you are right there. With my comment I was aiming at the dogfight scenes which are almost totally CGI.
germaneagle81 9 months ago
@germaneagle81 Yeah! You are absolutely right!
krtek810 9 months ago
Wow,dogfight between the Fokker D.V.II and S.E.5 from 2.20 to 4.40 is the best aerial combat scene i have seen!
German wants to kill the bomber, turns out the english fighter but pulls away to get the bomber again and finally shot down by the S.E.5!
There were WWI combat pilots hired to fly in Hell's Angels!
Look how the Fok turns and the face of the german pilot shortly before he gets hit,as if he would be chased in a real combat!
