@wanako4eva Going strictly by ear, I'd say this sounds a lot like Bebop or Hard Bop. Well known artists which should be easy for you to find include Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

In terms of albums, I recommend either Mingus' "Mingus Ah Um" or Coltrane's "Blue Train".

I remember how epic this was when Spike was fighting Asimov in Session 1 and I total loved this track. Then back in High School around 2002 I used this track in my video editing class and edited the car chase scene from the Steve Mcqueen Bullitt movie. My technology class teacher liked it a lot and I got an A on it. He said that was epic for editing a scene in for a classic.
