Hey, what scales, chords, modes, are you doing for the intro?
Also, in the piano solo, the 2nd chorus when you get to the Bb-Eb7-Abma bridge, what are you doing there? Sounds like you're changing the chords and doing some whole tone scale or something?
I'm working out of a quartal framework around a C tonal center for the intro. If you want to think of a scale, I suppose you could roughly attribute a dorian scale to what I've done here.
The spot you're talking about, I continue to work with a motif that ended the last section, consisting of a half step up, and a major 3rd down. It gives the sound of a half diminished chord and perhaps an altered dominant, but this is incidental to the development of the motif.
This particular performance of this tune, I do use a lot of whole tone and augmented sounds throughout, to arrive at some funny notes, as the melody encourages. And I think that is what your ear is picking up on.
Put your name in title because you are using the Bill Evans name
